Man. Father, just reading those 19 verses is testimony of how far our culture has fallen from God. Lord, we pray that if these truths that we just read were being lived out in our nation today, everything would change. Dear God in heaven, we pray that in our own lives and in the lives of our state and our nation, that there would be revival, that there would be a great move of your Holy Spirit. While there's yet time, you haven't returned yet. We're still alive for such a time as this. May none of us leave this building today thinking some ho-hum way of Christianity, some boring way of Christianity. May it not be. God, move in our midst, we pray. We ask it in Jesus' name and all God's people said, amen. You may be seated, church. And as we look at this today, diving in, I want to remind you of the great way that God speaks to us to open up our understandings in our mind. We're obviously in the book of Proverbs, and a proverb is a pithy, quick way of God giving you and I a profound truth in a sentence. If you reverse it in that one sentence, you can expound upon it into deep and profound depths. A proverb. Those of you who are educators, listen up, this is pretty cool. A proverb from the scriptures, you look at them and the way that they reveal information and understanding is somewhat miraculous. Why? It's because a proverb …
Father, we pray that you, by the power of your Holy Spirit, the word of God open before us. We seek to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ. And God, we thank you that our ultimate goal is to be wise in this world until we get to heaven. so Lord make us a wise people a Bible people and Lord we pray that we would be transformed today and Lord obviously this is a very very practical book and we pray Lord that from the oldest among us to the youngest among us that all of us Lord would experience the supernatural deposit the bestowing of the Spirit of God in this area of wisdom, we ask. In Jesus' name and all God's people said, amen. You may be seated. Today's message is titled, Getting God Right. Getting God Right, the Bible says, and listen to this, not only does the Bible say, if you have any sense of perception whatsoever, you can agree with this, that the things that God has assembled together speak about God knowing what he's doing. Look at nature. Look at creation. God knows what he's doing. Even though it's fallen, you and I live in a fallen world. There's death and mayhem. But with all of that fallen witness that you and I experience, you and I know, no matter who we are, you can be an atheist right now. You know right from wrong. You know good from evil. And how do you know that? You know that …
Or do you think that your conversion is in your own power, and that you can turn to God when you please? Is it because you have been born of godly parents that you are so secure? or do you imagine that you are in a fair way to be converted? Do you think that what you have done in religion will engage God to pity you, and that he never can have the heart to condemn one who has lived in so orderly a manner? or do you think that you are indeed converted already? and doth that encourage you to take a liberty in sinning? Or are you secure, because you are so stupid as to think nothing about these things? Do you let these concerns wholly alone, and scarcely ever think at all how it will be with you after you are dead??Certainly it must be one or more of these things which keeps you in your security, and encourages you to go on in sin. Examine therefore, and see which of them it is. 4. Be persuaded to leave off thus flattering yourselves in your own eyes. You are here informed, that those who do as you do, commonly continue so doing till their punishment actually comes upon them. Thereby you may be convinced of the vanity of all such flatteries.
