Sermons on Proverbs 11:24

One gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor. There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty. There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. There is that scattereth, and increaseth yet more; And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth only to want.

… people don't know how to live a blessed life because they don't know how to be generous. But look what Proverbs 11 24 says. It says the world of the generous gets larger and larger, but the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. Now that's a powerful piece of scripture right there because some of y'all won't even share french fries. You hear what I'm saying? You're just stingy. You're just mean. But I'm trying to think about in the kingdom of God, generous with whatever we have, our gifts and talents, our finances, our love, God says people's world get bigger and bigger. But if we hold back, if we try to keep it, if we try to keep it only for our family, our for and no more, God says that your world gets smaller and smaller. And some of you are in such a tight space, not because that's where God wants you, it's because where you have been having your faith at for generosity. Over the years, God will bless you and you won't give anything. God will expand you. You won't share your knowledge. He gives you more contacts and you won't hook nobody else up. And then I'm gonna let you do whatever you need to do with the word that God places on your heart. OK, but the word tells us in Proverbs chapter 11, verse 24, one of my favorite scriptures. It says the world of the generous gets larger and larger, but the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. A lot of people are trying to figure out why things that were once booming are now decreasing It's because the generosity factor went down You used to give so much you used to share your contacts when you didn't have many Like when you didn't really know nobody if you could help somebody you would now you done got up a little bit on top And somebody asks you for anything and you feel like sharing with them may be a threat to what you're doing And God says, no, no, no, no, no, you're doing it backwards because the world of the generous gets larger and larger. But the world of those who have to keep everything to themselves and keep all of it for them and make sure that just me and my four and no more have anything, it gets smaller and smaller. …

… There's a verse here in Proverbs 11 that I want you to look at. Proverbs 11 verse 24 I make reference to this every once in a while because it fascinates me so much I love these verses that just kind of rattle your brain and I don't know if this one does that for you but it sure does for me there's three verses we're going to read verse 24 there's one who scatters yet increases more there's one who withholds more than what is right but it leads to poverty verse 24 again there's one who scatters, that is referring metaphorically as one who is generous, okay? There's one who scatters, yet he increases all the more. There's one who withholds more than what is right, it leads to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will himself be watered. Now, these two verses are dealing with generosity. Look at verse 26. people will curse him who withholds grain but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it I love that verse because in the middle of a subject of generosity, he says if you grow a crop and you sell it, you make a profit, you're being generous. …
