… And this is how it's going to happen. John records it in Revelation chapter 19, verse 11. It says, then I saw heaven open and a white horse was standing there and its rider was named faithful and true. For he judges fairly and wages righteous war. His eyes were like flames of fire and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except him. He wore a robe dipped in blood and his title was word of God. The armies of heaven dressed in the finest of pure linens followed him on white horses. From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God. The Almighty, the juice flowing, like juice flowing from a wine press on his robe and his thigh was written King of Kings and Lord of Lords. all I'm telling you is that Satan's greatest desire will be to be worshiped the question I have for you my last point are you fulfilling Satan's greatest desire has the enemy convinced you that life circumstances are too hard that God's worthy to be praised have you have you been an unknowing cooperator in the biggest Ponzi scheme in history. …

… And he will come again on a war horse. Revelation chapter 19, verses 11 to 12. But in his first coming, in this first advent, he comes on a cult of a donkey offering amnesty. Second, verse 9, he comes to accomplish that peace. He's not just the mouthpiece of it. He's the one who achieves it. Verse 9, behold, your king is coming to you, righteous and having salvation as he, humble and mounted on a donkey. now there's two pairs there you got the righteous and having salvation and the humble and mounted you can hear the exaltation there mounted on a donkey i only got time for the second for our purposes the second one makes the key contribution to what we need to know about Zechariah 9. The word here for humble, I describe it in English as a passive term. A more literal translation would be humbled and mounted on a donkey. So humbled and exalted. So humble is not saying what the donkey is. …

… He's coming. I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse whose rider is called Faithful and True with justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself and he is dressed. How is the one coming on the white horse dressed? He's coming to wage war. Man, I bet he is bulked up. I bet he's got onto impenetrable armor. I bet he is fierce. How is he dressed on the white horse? he's dressed in a robe dipped in blood. he's dressed in grace and his name is the word of God. And then the very last words in the Bible. Do you know them? someone said, I am coming quickly. Yes, come Lord Jesus. Close, very close to the last ones. The very last words in this book. Of course, you know what they are now. What are they? …

… In Revelation 19, 11, at the very text that is describing the return of Christ in second coming glory, it says, "'I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it is called faithful and true, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.'" God is faithful. Christ is faithful. And Scripture is faithful, Titus 1, 9, holding fast the faithful word. Revelation 21.5 and 22.6, these words are faithful and true. God is faithful. Christ is faithful. And Scripture, therefore, is faithful. And then the ministers of that Scripture and the servants of God and Christ must be defined by faithfulness. Faithfulness in what sense? to Christ in their relationship with Him, and faithful to Scripture in their handling of divine revelation. The commendation of faithfulness is given to a number of people in the New Testament. Timothy in 1 Corinthians 4, 17, you're in that chapter. Go down to the bottom, sort of the bottom of the chapter, verse 17. For this reason, Paul says, I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ. …

Hope for the Remnant (Zechariah 12-14)
John MacArthur, 2023-03-10

… verses 12 to 15. But it all culminates in what we read in Revelation 19. Listen to this. This is another look at the triumphant arrival of Christ. I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written on him which no one knows except himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood. His name is called the Word of God, and the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it he may smite down the nations, and he will rule them of the rod of iron, and he treads the winepress of the fierce wrath of God Almighty. When he arrives, you have universal worship, just hurrying to an end, verses 16 to 19. …
