The armies of heaven, dressed in fine linen, white and pure, follow Him on white horses. The armies which are in heaven, clothed in white, pure, fine linen, followed him on white horses. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And the armies which are in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure.

The Coming King
Robert Jeffress, 2026-08-25

… his name is called the word of God. This is the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. And notice in verse 14, the description of the king's army and the armies, which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following him on white horses. Who is this army from heaven that follows him? Some people say it was the angels. Maybe. The tribulation saints. Maybe. Maybe it was the Old Testament saints. It's the church. It is you and I. How do I know that? There was that description. They were clothed in fine linen. Remember we saw earlier that the bride was making herself ready in fine linen, which is the righteous acts of the saints. Now look at a description of the warrior king in verses 15 and 16. And from his mouth comes a sharp sword so that with it he may strike down the nations. What is that sharp sword? It's the word of God. John MacArthur, 2023-03-10

It will be that whichever of the families of the earth do not go to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain on them. If the family in Egypt doesn't go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them. It will be the plague with which the Lord smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booth." One religion, and you better show up. This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths, which indicates to us that even in the kingdom, people will be born who are unconverted and rebellious. …

The battle is set. Here's the Antichrist. Here are his armies. They have come to make war on heaven's king. They are going to make war against him. Jesus followed with the armies of heaven, coming this time not for his church, coming this time with his church after the seven years of the tribulation. Here's Antichrist, this braggart, belching up blasphemies, ready to make war with him. And the battle ensues, and it's over with two words. Jesus says, drop dead. He destroys them with the sword that goes out of his mouth. His word, the same word that spoke them into existence will speak them into oblivion. The battle of Armageddon. Next, the millennium and the glorification of the Savior. Revelation 20, beginning in verse 1. Here's what he's seeing now. And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and the great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, Latin a millennium, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years should be fulfilled. …
