Final Judgment
Robert Jeffress, 2026-08-28

… according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. They are judged according to the books. Now, please stay with me on this. So important you understand this. Did you know God keeps two sets of books, so to speak? There are the books and there is the book. The book is the Lamb's book of life that records the name of everyone who's ever trusted in Christ as Savior. We saw it in chapter three. The names in that book were written down before the foundation of the world. That's the book of life. But it says the unsaved were judged according to the books, that is, according to their deeds. Why are non-Christians judged by their works? Two reasons. First of all, because they've chosen to be judged by their works. The unbeliever is somebody who said, I don't need that gift of forgiveness that Christ offers. I don't need his grace. If he died for my sins, he needn't have bothered as Ted Turner once said. If a few girlfriends and a few drinks are going to send you to hell, so be it. The great billionaire said, that's what the unbeliever says, I don't need the grace of God. I'll roll the dice. I'm good enough to get into heaven. God says, fine, we'll judge you just like you want to be judged by your works. The only problem with that is the standard of our works is not other people. It's Jesus Christ himself. …

The Coming King
Robert Jeffress, 2026-08-25

… now in Hades awaiting his final trial at the great white throne judgment and his final sentence, which will be to be thrown into the lake of fire, to be tormented day and night forever and ever. The first two occupants of that lake of fire will be the beast and the false prophet. And we'll find after Revelation 20, after the thousand years of millennium, the reign of Christ, at the end of those thousand years, Satan will be cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20, 10 says, the great dragon, Satan will be cast into the lake of fire where the beast and the false prophet are. To me, that's fascinating because Satan doesn't enter that lake of fire until a thousand years later. And yet a thousand years later, when Satan is dispatched into the lake of fire, It says the beast and the false prophet are still there. It doesn't say they were there. They are there, meaning they are still alive. And that is the awful truth about hell, the final judgment place of the unsaved. …

And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Oh, listen now, verse 15. And anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. The setting is described. A summons is delivered. the whole population of mankind stands before the great white throne. But I won't be there. And by God's grace, my family won't ever stand before the great white throne because we settled out of court. I decided I'm not going to stand before the judgment seat of God. I'm settling out of court. I say Jesus is my Savior. Every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess. And whatever you do, you don't want to go to hell. But the only thing worse than going to hell is if you take your family with you because of your hard heart. That's the first part of my sermon. I just finished with an exclamation point, point one. …

The Resurrection of Everyone (John 5:25-29)
John MacArthur, 2022-04-17

… And they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. If your name is not in the book of life, you're going to be judged by your deeds, and your Your deeds will not be sufficient. Whether the body is in the ground or in the sea, every unbeliever will be at that judgment, and they will be judged for their sins, and then sent to the eternal lake of fire. For all that we celebrate in the resurrection of Christ, and rightly we have done that today and lifted up our hearts in praise for all that we are grateful for, for all the joy, for all the hallelujahs, for the resurrection of Christ. That's only for those who listen to His voice, who know Him and have received life from Him. …

… dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Hallelujah. Man, I... I was on my face Friday night just going, God, I've worshipped you and have believed in other things that you say so much easier than this. But let me take this at face back. Let me take it for what it says. I mean, this is written black and white. Jesus' words in red, you know, over and over again. Like, his wrath is no joke. and just like I trust his holiness, just like I trust his love, I'm going, God, I mean, it's just one of those times where I'm just going, God, if I never believed, man, I just don't want to come to the end and deceive myself. …
