And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

… judgment. The unbelievers will be judged according to their works. And what is the result of that judgment? Look at this verse 15. And if anyone's name was not written in the book of the life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Jesus called this place Gehenna, the Valley of Hinnom, Those of you who have been to Israel, you've been there before, no doubt. You know it's located outside the walls of Jerusalem. It was a garbage dump for Jerusalem for many, many years. It was a place the sewage, the refuse would be dumped. It was a place where criminals' bodies, after they were crucified or executed, would have been left to decay. In the Old Testament times, that same valley was the site where Israelites, following the pagan god Moloch would burn their infant children alive. It was a horrible place. In fact, Jesus described it as a place just like Gehenna, hell of weeping and wailing and of gnashing of teeth. There was no more cursed place than Gehenna. And it is that place, Jesus said, that best describes that endless eternal weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth that awaits those who die without Christ. And listen to me, ladies and gentlemen, it is that place that Jesus died to save you from. …
… now in Hades awaiting his final trial at the great white throne judgment and his final sentence, which will be to be thrown into the lake of fire, to be tormented day and night forever and ever. The first two occupants of that lake of fire will be the beast and the false prophet. And we'll find after Revelation 20, after the thousand years of millennium, the reign of Christ, at the end of those thousand years, Satan will be cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20, 10 says, the great dragon, Satan will be cast into the lake of fire where the beast and the false prophet are. To me, that's fascinating because Satan doesn't enter that lake of fire until a thousand years later. And yet a thousand years later, when Satan is dispatched into the lake of fire, It says the beast and the false prophet are still there. It doesn't say they were there. They are there, meaning they are still alive. And that is the awful truth about hell, the final judgment place of the unsaved. …
… Revelation chapter 19, Revelation 20 says, if any person's name was not found written in the Lamb's book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire and tormented there day and night forever and ever. Here is the awful truth about hell, ladies and gentlemen. if you die as an unbeliever without receiving God's forgiveness, once you have spent 10 billion trillion years suffering the torment of hell, you will not have reduced by one second the time you have left to spend there. That's not the words of Robert Jeffress. That's the word of almighty God here in the Bible. That's the fate of those who die without Christ. But finally, there was an announcement of blessing for those who are obedient to the Lamb, those who refuse to take the mark and follow the Lamb wherever he goes. Look at verses 12 and 13. Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven saying, write, blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds will follow them. Unlike unbelievers who will be persecuted forever and ever, those who die in the Lord, that is, they are in Christ. They have been forgiven by Christ. They are blessed. That word blessed in Greek literally means happy. Happy are those who die in the Lord. He doesn't say happy are those who are left behind. He says happy blessed are those who die in the Lord. …
… were opened, just the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books according to what they had done. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. So, that passage there is a helpful way to think of it. There's a book of life chosen by God from the foundation of the world. Your name is written in that book of life, and you who are chosen, profess faith in life in a moment in time and embrace Christ. So, there's a book of life, and you can't be erased from that. And then on the day of judgment, Revelation 20 says, there's books. Okay, your name is in the book of life. Now, what evidence do we have to corroborate that this wasn't a mistake? Let's get down the books. So, this idea of some judgment according to works that our deeds will be open for all to see as a confirming piece of evidence is taught in the Bible, and it's taught in our confessions. …
And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Oh, listen now, verse 15. And anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. The setting is described. A summons is delivered. the whole population of mankind stands before the great white throne. But I won't be there. And by God's grace, my family won't ever stand before the great white throne because we settled out of court. I decided I'm not going to stand before the judgment seat of God. I'm settling out of court. I say Jesus is my Savior. Every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess. And whatever you do, you don't want to go to hell. But the only thing worse than going to hell is if you take your family with you because of your hard heart. That's the first part of my sermon. I just finished with an exclamation point, point one. …
… And they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. If your name is not in the book of life, you're going to be judged by your deeds, and your Your deeds will not be sufficient. Whether the body is in the ground or in the sea, every unbeliever will be at that judgment, and they will be judged for their sins, and then sent to the eternal lake of fire. For all that we celebrate in the resurrection of Christ, and rightly we have done that today and lifted up our hearts in praise for all that we are grateful for, for all the joy, for all the hallelujahs, for the resurrection of Christ. That's only for those who listen to His voice, who know Him and have received life from Him. …
… every one of them according to what they had done. And if anybody's name was not found written in the Lamb's book of life, He was thrown into the lake of fire. That is the second and ultimately the eternal death. Friend, I cannot emphasize to you strongly enough the importance of what you do right now with Jesus. He offers his resurrection to you. That's what Paul had given his life for people to know. He offers his resurrection to you now if you repent of your sin and submit to him as Lord and Savior. Some of you listening to me right now, you are going to resurrect to eternal glory. And others seated right beside those people, you are going to resurrect to eternal judgment. Listen, for some of you, for those of you that are in Christ, here's the good news. This world, this world is as close to hell as you're ever gonna come. All the pain, all the stuff we go through in the world, that's as close to hell as you're ever gonna come. …
… dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Hallelujah. Man, I... I was on my face Friday night just going, God, I've worshipped you and have believed in other things that you say so much easier than this. But let me take this at face back. Let me take it for what it says. I mean, this is written black and white. Jesus' words in red, you know, over and over again. Like, his wrath is no joke. and just like I trust his holiness, just like I trust his love, I'm going, God, I mean, it's just one of those times where I'm just going, God, if I never believed, man, I just don't want to come to the end and deceive myself. …
