… and spoke with me saying, come up here and I will show you the bride, the wife of the lamb. And John says, the angel carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. Look at verse 11. Having the glory of God, her brilliance was like a very costly stone, as a stone of crystal clear jasper. The word translated jasper could be any number of stones. Most people think it's a diamond. And what John is communicating here, and we'll see it over and over again in this chapter, is this city is going to be flooded with light. It's going to be absolutely filled with light. That is the chief characteristic of this new city, the new Jerusalem. Now look at verse 12. And it had a great and high wall. The new Jerusalem is going to have a great and high wall with 12 gates. And at the gates, 12 angels and names were written on them, which are the names of the 12 tribes of the son of Israel. And not only that, look at verse 14. And the wall of the city had 12 foundation stones. …
… will, of the kingdom. John is carried away in verse 10 of Revelation 21 in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed all that God has prepared by way of His city. He showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, not built by men, but coming down out of heaven from God. And then he describes this city as having the glory of God, brilliance like a very costly stone, a stone of crystal-clear jasper like a diamond with a great and high wall, and so forth and so on. The city in the future, one world government under Messiah, will be the city built by God. Before that, though, before that city, there will come world peace, a false peace. Real peace comes with the Prince of Peace, but there will come a false peace. Let me show you that, Matthew 24. Matthew chapter 24 and verse 3. The disciples have come to Jesus, and they ask Him this very pertinent question, verse 3, Matthew 24, tell us when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming and the end of the age? …
… And Scripture is faithful, Titus 1, 9, holding fast the faithful word. Revelation 21.5 and 22.6, these words are faithful and true. God is faithful. Christ is faithful. And Scripture, therefore, is faithful. And then the ministers of that Scripture and the servants of God and Christ must be defined by faithfulness. Faithfulness in what sense? to Christ in their relationship with Him, and faithful to Scripture in their handling of divine revelation. The commendation of faithfulness is given to a number of people in the New Testament. Timothy in 1 Corinthians 4, 17, you're in that chapter. Go down to the bottom, sort of the bottom of the chapter, verse 17. For this reason, Paul says, I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ. I walk with Christ and in Christ. Timothy follows me in doing the same, therefore he is faithful. He will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, and he will remind you of what I teach. …
… said to me, Come and I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb, and He carried me away in the spirit to a mountain great and high and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, and it shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a precious jewel like jasper, clear as crystal. It had a great high wall with twelve gates and twelve angels. And then he goes and gives us this vivid description of this heavenly city that measures as a cube and it's fifteen hundred miles across the city. It's only a thousand miles across Texas. Can you imagine a city that measures four square fifteen hundred miles by fifteen hundred miles by fifteen hundred miles? the mileage and the math here is symbolic. It's the furlong times twelve is what it is in the New Testament. That is that this city is enormous in its scope. Have you ever been to Palestine? Have you ever been to Israel? How many people here have ever been to Jerusalem? …
