What that does is help your hearers enter the world of the text. By making it visible, you make it real and relevant and meaningful to them. So next, I want you to hear two expositional points from Chuck. That way, you can see how Chuck does it. It'll be a city without darkness. Again, phenomenal thought. Verse 23 tells us the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it for the glory of God has illumined it and its lamp is the lamb. I love the way that reads. The lamb is the lighted lamp. What a beautiful thought. 22.5 tells us there will no longer be any night. …

… for the former things have passed away. And he who was seated on the throne said, behold, I am making all things new. Chapter 22, verse one, then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, brightest crystal flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb to the middle of the street of the city. Also on either side of the river, the tree of life with its 12 kinds of fruit yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of that tree were for the healing of the nations. … For the former things have passed away. And he who sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write, for these words are true. And they are faithful. He said to me, It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega. the beginning and the end. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things. I will be his God and he shall be my child. Clap your hands and rejoice. You really want to go to heaven. Revelation 21 verses 4 through 5 says that when we get to heaven, God shall wipe all tears from their eyes. There shall be no more death, neither crying. Neither shall there be any more pain. The former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. He said unto me, Write these things, for they are true and they are faithful. Don't let the people forget that this life is not just about here and now, but we're headed into eternity. And you need to know heaven is real. Heaven is true. God will wipe every tear from your eye, and He will make all things new. Everybody shout, I want to go to heaven. I want you to think with me for just a moment. Give me your mind. Give me your imagination. There will be no more war in heaven. There will be no more death. There will be no more sorrow. …

… And Scripture is faithful, Titus 1, 9, holding fast the faithful word. Revelation 21.5 and 22.6, these words are faithful and true. God is faithful. Christ is faithful. And Scripture, therefore, is faithful. And then the ministers of that Scripture and the servants of God and Christ must be defined by faithfulness. Faithfulness in what sense? to Christ in their relationship with Him, and faithful to Scripture in their handling of divine revelation. The commendation of faithfulness is given to a number of people in the New Testament. Timothy in 1 Corinthians 4, 17, you're in that chapter. Go down to the bottom, sort of the bottom of the chapter, verse 17. For this reason, Paul says, I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ. I walk with Christ and in Christ. Timothy follows me in doing the same, therefore he is faithful. He will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, and he will remind you of what I teach. …
