Sermons on Revelation 5:6

Then I saw a Lamb who appeared to have been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.I saw in the middle of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the middle of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth.

… looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne. What John sees is confusing, because he hears about a lion, but when he looks, what he sees is a lamb. And don't think mighty ram, okay? Right, like go heels here. This is not what we're talking about. Think small, helpless lamb. In fact, the normal word for lamb in the New Testament is omnos. But here the word used is arneon, very unique word, hardly ever used at all in the New Testament, but it specifically means a little or a pet lamb. This is a small, weak, helpless looking creature. And even more than that, this lamb looks as if it had been slain, meaning that the lamb bears the marks of abuse and suffering. The Lord Jesus, who though he was the son of God, the very one at the center of the throne, came to earth, not as a lion, but as a lamb, lived as a servant and died in weakness under Roman suppression. …

Behold The Lamb - Louie Giglio
Louie Giglio, 2025-11-24

… on both sides and you know the story, no one's worthy to open it, to break the seals and to open the scroll but then verse 6, then I saw a lamb, John who saw the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world now is in heaven seeing the lamb of God who has taken away the sins of the world. He looked as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. By the way, this is maybe a little more core class than preaching Sunday, but feel free to amen anyway, even though it's core class, because we are in the living word of Almighty God, and now we're in heaven. How do we get there? Understanding what's going on in forever and in the future, and there's a lamb with seven horns and seven eyes, the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth, and he, the lamb, went and took the scroll, and he, when he had taken it, was worshiped by four living creatures and 24 elders who fell down before the lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God's people. And they sing a new song. We've got 24 elders and four living creatures, and they're worshiping who? The lamb of God. …

… without blemish or spot. Revelation chapter 5 beginning verse 6, and between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a lamb standing as though it had been slain with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. and he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the lamb, each holding a harp and a golden bowl full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. Then down in verse 11, then I looked and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, the voice of many angels numbering myriad of myriads and thousands of thousands saying with a loud voice worthy is the lamb who was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing and I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea and all that is in them saying to him who sits on the throne and to the lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever. …

John MacArthur, 2023-12-10 · Scripture reading

… is from the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals. And I saw between the throne with the four living creatures and the elders a lamb standing as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him who sat on the throne. When he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, Worthy are you to take the book and to break its seals, for you were slain and purchased for God with your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign upon the earth.
