… She said what are you talking about? Where'd you see that? He said right here in the scripture Revelation 8.1 says, when he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for 30 minutes. Okay, Paul, they didn't like it. Here we go, y'all. This is my Bible. I am what it says I am. I have what it says I have. I can do what it says I can do. Today, I will be taught the word of God. I boldly confess my mind is alert. My heart is receptive. I will never be the same in Jesus name. God bless you. I want to talk to you today about God controls your doors. We all have dreams we want to accomplish and things we're believing for, but sometimes we wonder how it's going to happen. Will I meet the right people? What if I don't get the scholarship? What if the loan doesn't go through? We end up striving and straining, trying to force doors to open and frustrated because we didn't get the promotion and upset because this person walked away. We think we have to do it all on our own. The good news is God is your doorkeeper. He's in control of the doors in your life, what opens and what closes. You're not at the mercy of fate, luck, and if this person likes you. …
… judgments and all of the bold judgments that are to come. Chapter 8, verse 1, when the lamb, that is Jesus broke the seventh, the final seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. When the seventh seal is broken, it means the scroll is completely opened. And everyone in heaven can see all of the final judgments against the earth. They can see all of the trumpet judgments, all of the bowl judgments. And when the heavenly residents see what awaits this earth, there is a collective gasp you can hear in heaven. There's an eerie silence. That's what you have here, this eerie silence as everyone awaits these judgments. Look at verse two. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God and seven trumpets were given to them. Who are these seven angels who stand before God? We don't know. It's conjecture. Many people believe it's the archangels. people like Michael, angels like Gabriel, special angels who will be given each one one of these trumpets to sound. Trumpets are very important in scripture. I've listed here five primary uses of trumpets in the Bible to announce ceremonial processions, to assemble Israel for war, to announce the new year. Trumpets will be used in the future to regather Israel at the second coming of Christ. And finally, there'll be a trumpet that will announce the rapture of the church. Remember 1 Thessalonians 4, for the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the what? The trumpet of God. …
… But first, let's just walk through Revelation 8 through 11. Revelation 8, 1 opens by telling us that at the opening of the seventh seal judgment, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. Up until now, the scenes in heaven have been quite boisterous. People falling on their faces, worshiping around the throne, proclaiming Christ's worthiness, casting their crowns at his feet. But here, at the beginning of chapter 8, all the praises stop, and not a word is spoken. There's complete silence in heaven for about half an hour, and that's because the last of the seven seal judgments has been opened, which introduced us to a new round of judgments called the trumpet judgments. All in all, there are three different sets of judgments presented in the tribulation. There are the seal judgments. That was Revelation 6 and 7, which we've already covered. Then there are the trumpet judgments. That's what we'll look at today. And later we'll cover the bowl judgments, which will be in Revelation 15 through 18. Each of these series of judgments consists of seven judgments each, so 21 in all, and all of them take place during this seven-year period that we call the Great Tribulation. Now, remember, there are a couple different ways to read the book of Revelation. …
… through the rest of the book. Let me read you the opening five verses, which will be all that we can cover this morning. When the Lamb broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. Another angel came and stood at the altar holding a golden censer, and much incense was given to him, so that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense with the prayers of the saints went up before God out of the angel's hand. Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire of the altar and threw it to the earth. And there followed peals of thunder and sounds and flashes of lightning and an earthquake. Now, a little bit of background. The climactic final judgment that takes Satan out of his place of dominion in the world and restores that dominion to the Lord Jesus Christ is taking place in these visions that the Holy Spirit gives to the apostle John. …
