For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith.

… Christ, and what you still need to learn, and how your character still needs to be shaped. And God is trying most of all to build your face up, okay? Romans 1.17 puts it this way, The just shall live by faith. This is one of the most important verses in the Bible, because it tells us that we don't just get saved by faith. We also need to walk by faith. That's what we said last week. Just as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so also walk in him. You didn't work hard to get saved. You just trusted God. So that's the same thing you need to do to walk with him, is just continue to trust him. And listen, if you could figure out exactly what the formula was for your life, for the exact sequence of events it was going to go, if someone could give you a map and it was written out, you're going to do this for this long and this is how it's going to go. …
… In Jesus' name, amen. Our text this morning is Romans chapter 1, verse 17. I promise we will not normally take only one verse. You're panicking just a bit. There are 433 verses in Romans. So one sermon for one verse would be a little extreme. I think, Lord willing, the next sermon will have two or three verses. We will move ahead. But there are certain verses which do need a sermon by themselves. And I can't promise, but some verses later in the book may need more than one sermon themselves. And this is such a magnificent verse. Let me begin reading at verse 16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it, that is in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith. As it is written, the righteous shall live by faith. We saw last week that word for, gar in the Greek, and you will become acquainted with that word throughout this series. …
… so Paul is going to get in our grill a little bit are you ready for this four things Romans chapter 1 verses 14 through 17 the first thing I want you to notice is and this is Paul speaking I just kind of wrote down kind of what I thought he would say the debt I owe number two the drive I show and number three the decision I make and number four the deal I take I just outlined for you maybe the most important verses in scripture because these verses kick-started the protestant reformation do you know what the protestant Reformationists. I'm glad you asked because only three people lifted their hand. The Protestant Reformation was a 16th century movement that challenged corruption and unbiblical teachings in the Catholic Church. It was an emphasis on salvation by faith through grace, an emphasis on the authority of scripture, and an emphasis on birthing Protestant churches. Martin Luther, John Calvin, Zwingli, and Knox were a part of the Protestant Reformation. …
