Sermons on Romans 5:7

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a good person someone would even dare to die.For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the good man some one would even dare to die.

… how we have peace with God, through faith. Because we believe, Romans 5, 6 through 8, that very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. He died for us. And it's through faith in what he has done that we are reconciled to God. This is the good news for every non-Christian friend who's in here this morning. Hear the good news. God has poured out the wrath due sin upon his son, and he has said to you sitting here in this room, if you will trust in him to save you from your sin as Lord over your life, he will remove all your sin forever. then he goes on in Romans 6 to describe how through faith in Christ we're dead to sin and alive to God this changes everything about how we live now Romans 7 that doesn't mean we don't struggle with sin we do for what we want to do we don't do what we hate we do it's kind of schizophrenic Paul we want to do good evil's right there with us waging war against the law of our mind making a prisoner of law at work within our members then Paul says who's going to rescue us And the answer, thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. …

Tremble at God's Word
David Platt, 2026-09-30

… Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. God demonstrates his love for us in this. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more will we be saved from God's wrath through him? For if in our sin, not only is this so, but we rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom we have now received reconciliation. Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men because all sin, for before the law was given, sin was in the world, but sin is not taken into account where there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over the nation who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam who was a power over the one to come. …

A picture of reunion. Relaxation. Welcome. Welcome. Restoration. To come to a porch is to come home. Did you know that your heavenly Father has a porch? And it's framed with planks of mercy and kindness and grace. And over the doorway, welcome home. This is the big message of the Bible. and is certainly the big message in a chapter of the Bible in the book of Luke. At the heart of the gospel of Luke is the heart of the gospel of God. And over the next nine weeks, under the title, The Porch Light is On, we're going to work our way through this wondrous chapter and I gotta tell you I'm so excited I've been thrilled about this looking forward to this day for months months because you get Luke 15 God gets you and I'm so excited about it, I'm going to go ahead and give you your homework assignment. Two assignments, two tasks. Number one, over the next nine weeks, would you please read Luke 15 every week? …

we want to offer a prayer at this time. And it could be that you know personally or have some kind of connection with someone who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our country. And you would like to stand on behalf of that person. You won't be asked to say anything or do anything. But as we pray, if you want to stand on behalf of somebody, please do so. And this prayer is a silent prayer. And so we'll just get it started. And you talk to your heavenly Father. Thank him. Respond to him as he leads. Okay? Gracious Father, now we honor those who were so willing to give soul. much. Through Christ we pray and all God's people said Amen. You can be seated. You know what I wish? I wish that everyone understood what we are doing here today is infinitely more important than what the Spurs will do tonight. Just saying. I love the Spurs. I'll be watching the game. But long after that game is over, what we do here will continue. …

… I want to tell you the hardest part is behind you. Paul says in Romans 5, verse 7, very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. The hard part is behind you. Verse 9 says, If he has justified you by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him? The hard part is behind you. He already hung there. Stop living in your shame. He died for it. The hard part is behind you. The hard part was accomplished for you. By the grace of God today, I command you to be clean. I command you to allow his grace to wash it away, to wash off the residue of the regret and the failure. The hard part is behind you. I want everyone standing all over this church. No one moving. No one distracting. …
