For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see?For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees? For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?For in hope were we saved: but hope that is seen is not hope: for who hopeth for that which he seeth?

Tremble at God's Word
David Platt, 2026-09-30

… Not only so, we ourselves have the first fruits of the Spirit. We groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons of redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that's seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for it? He already has. But if we hope what we don't yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We don't know what to pray for sometimes. The Spirit intercedes for us with groans that words can't even express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accord with God's will. And we know that in all things, in all things, in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew, he predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called. …

Be Careful How You Wait - Heath Hatmaker

… Establish your hearts for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Paul writes this in Romans chapter 8, verse 24. He says, for in this hope we are saved. Now, hope that is seen is not hope for who hopes in what he sees. But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. Again, back in the Psalm, Psalm 40 says, I waited patiently for the Lord and he inclined to me and he heard my cry. He drew me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and he set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. Later in this book, in Isaiah chapter 40, it says, even youth shall faint and be weary. Young men shall fall exhausted, but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. And that's just a few points, scriptures, passages, encouragement in God's word where he teaches us how to wait. …

… Come on, give me a second. For we are saved by hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For what a man seeth, Why does he yet hope for it? Come on. But if we hope for that, we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. See, this is how he purges you. This is how he fixes you. In the waiting for what you hope for, he purges the desires of your heart. he changes what you need he changes what you desire he changes what you value and he didn't answer you when you threw your temper tantrum because God is not excited about how you feel I feel some kind of way likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities for we know not what we should pray for as we are. I'm scared to ask him for stuff because I have asked him for stuff that almost killed me. How many people can admit it? I have asked him for stuff that wrecked my life, that broke my heart, that drove me crazy, that had me up at three o'clock in the morning and I brought it on myself. …

Yeah, Romans chapter 8, verse 18 through 28. When you have it, say amen. Paul says, for I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to even be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. I could stay there all day. I could just put up a tent and camp out in my backyard and stay on that text all day. I reckon that the sufferings of this present time, anybody got some sufferings? The suffering of your present time is not worthy to even be compared. Don't even put it in the same sentence. It's not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. The whole earth is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God, for you to peel back your flesh and show who you really are. Come on, talk to me, somebody. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly. …
