In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.And in like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered;

For All In The Family – Part 2
Jack Hibbs, 2026-10-04

… It's who you know. Romans chapter 8, verse 26. You guys okay? We're not even close to being done. Good. Likewise, the Spirit also. Holy Spirit helps in our weaknesses. I love this. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought. But the Spirit, that is the Holy Spirit himself, makes intercession for us. Really? With groanings. The word groanings means words that cannot be articulated. It's not German, it's not Hebrew, it's not English, it's not Russian. This is wild. In fact, the words translated deep, guttural sighs. No words, just a sound that could fill a library. the Holy Spirit knows. He makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now, he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. What does that mean? That means many times, look, I say this sarcastically. We pray like this. Yeah, I pray. I pray all the time. …

… who gets in us and ministers to us, in us, through us, and for us, and around us. And the Bible even lets us know when we pray, go ahead and read Romans chapter 8 verses 26 and 27. It says we don't even know how to pray as we ought to because of our weakness. And the Bible calls it in the old King James, our infirmity. It has to do with strengthlessness when we just ain't got it. And I don't care how long you've been going to church every now and then. You fall on your knees and pray and the words don't come to your right. Every now and then when life is hurting you and beating you down and messing with your mind and hurting your spirit. In those moments it's hard to find words to say when you want to pray. But that's when the Holy Spirit comes along and helps us. The Holy Spirit takes our prayers and polishes those prayers, takes them up to God, and y'all, the prayers get answered even if we didn't have words to say. …

… God's people in accordance with the will of God. Again, that's from the pen of the Apostle Paul in the book of Romans chapter 8, verses 26 and 27. Few passages reveal the tender heart of the Holy Spirit more than this one from Romans chapter 8. We are accustomed to the powerful actions of the Holy Spirit. Fire falling on Pentecost. The Red Sea opening for Moses. The doors opening for Paul. Because of the Holy Spirit, Ezekiel saw dead bones rise. We're accustomed to the mighty visible acts of the Holy Spirit, yet church, of equal import is this, that the Spirit of God curates and translates the incoherent prayers of the weak until they are heard in the throne room of heaven. The Holy Spirit curates, that is, cares for, and translates, that is, puts in appropriate language, the incoherent prayers of the weak, the sick, the feeble, the lonely, the addicted, the isolated, the imprisoned, the weak. and makes them worthy of being presented in the tribunal of heaven before the presence of the Trinity. …

… I feel some kind of way likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities for we know not what we should pray for as we are. I'm scared to ask him for stuff because I have asked him for stuff that almost killed me. How many people can admit it? I have asked him for stuff that wrecked my life, that broke my heart, that drove me crazy, that had me up at three o'clock in the morning and I brought it on myself. we know not what to pray for as we are. The beginning, one of the first principles of wisdom is to figure out that you don't know as much as you think you do. My God, this is good Bible class. This is good. The moment you stop worshiping your opinion and your decision, you open up to have a God in your life. But as long as you worship what you have in mind, that becomes an idol to you. and he's going to tear down every idol. …

Yeah, Romans chapter 8, verse 18 through 28. When you have it, say amen. Paul says, for I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to even be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. I could stay there all day. I could just put up a tent and camp out in my backyard and stay on that text all day. I reckon that the sufferings of this present time, anybody got some sufferings? The suffering of your present time is not worthy to even be compared. Don't even put it in the same sentence. It's not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. The whole earth is waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God, for you to peel back your flesh and show who you really are. Come on, talk to me, somebody. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly. …

Putting God Back at the Center

… In chapter 8 verse 26, it says, The Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know what to pray for as we ought. But the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. But He says right there in the beginning, He goes, The Spirit has to help us in our weakness because we do not know. We do not know what to pray for as we ought. When you go into prayer, don't you usually go and go, I know what I need to pray for. The Bible says, no, you don't. You don't even know what you're supposed to pray for. You need help even for that. and he says the spirit is the one who will help you pray according to the will of god because if you close your eyes and just start talking you're going to pray according to your own will see this is what humility is about even as i pray remember who i am speaking to first thing I do is say who am I about to talk to and then secondly the Bible itself says you don't know how to pray to him you need the Spirit's help when you pray do you pray humbly do you come before God trembling at who he is I can't believe I'm speaking to you and you say Holy Spirit I don't even know what to say right …

When you close your eyes to praise you, thank you. God. I don't know what to pray. I know that I don't know how to pray as I ought. I need the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for me according to the will of God. And God, I'm about to pray to you right now, but I don't know what to say. I don't know how to pray according to your will. …
