Scripture reading: Luke 24:1-9 3:33
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were puzzling over this, suddenly two men in radiant apparel stood beside them. 5As the women bowed their faces to the ground in terror, the two men asked them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee: 7‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’” 8Then they remembered His words. 9And when they returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.

34 so stand in my body take over my mind and think your thoughts take my mouth and speak your word bless your word and now give power to your word and may your word go forth with such power that none of us online or in the house will leave this encounter this experience the same way we came speak lord for we are listening in jesus name amen amen hallelujah praise god with me for our music ministry y'all he got up i'm so happy that he got up I want to call your attention in this service to Luke chapter 24 and I'm going to begin reading at the first verse of the 24th chapter of the gospel according to Luke. I'm going to read from the English Standard Version translation of the Greek New Testament. It reads, but on the first day of the week at early dawn they went to the tomb taking the spices they had prepared and they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. But when they went in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel.

02 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, why do you seek the living among the dead he is not here but has risen remember how he told you while he was still in Galilee that the son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise and they remembered his words and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the 11 and to all the rest you may be seated in God's presence I want to put tag on this text and for a few moments with your prayers I want to talk about from being shook to experiencing him cook from being shook to experiencing him cook Has life ever sucker punched you?

05 You know what a sucker punch is. A sucker punch is when you are minding your own business and suddenly out of nowhere a phone call comes that flips your world upside down. You are shook by a sucker punch. a sucker punch is when you are trying to do good and then something bad causes everything you are building up to fall apart when that happens a sucker punch can leave you shook and already I'm in somebody's kool-aid I've called out your flavor because you know what it's like to feel shook shook by a sucker punch I I I remember when it happened I saw the highlights it was played on loop Rudy Tomjanovich was playing for the Houston Rockets they were in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers and a a a fight broke out and Tomjanovich ran in the direction of the fight and Kermit Washington saw him coming and turned around and hit him.

25 It caught him in the face. Tomjanovich went down. He sustained injuries that left him broken both physically and emotionally for quite some time. He was shook by a sucker punch. I'll hang out right there because life will do that to you. You will find yourself, my sisters and brothers, caught off guard by something, a crisis, a catastrophe, if you please, that will mess your world up as you were trying to build it up. and then you get hit by a sucker punch, a sucker punch that you never saw coming, a sucker punch that will mess with your mind. It will shatter your spirit. It will break your heart. A sucker punch can leave you shook this week in my own experience.

23 Please know I'm not here to preach to y'all. I'm here to testify that that's what life will do. this week I received a phone call that a death had taken place in my family of a 38 year old nephew I am still shook by it and here it is my sisters and brothers shook by a sucker punch of sorrow that can leave you in grief it will cause one to feel shook I guess that in a real sense is what happened to Faye Wells. Faye Wells, a sister who graduated from Duke and Dartmouth, did everything right, living in Santa Monica, California in a fancy condo. And when she comes home one day, she discovers that she had inadvertently left her keys in the condo. The door is locked. She calls a locksmith and when she called the locksmith she was let in but her neighbor thought that she was breaking into the condo as a consequence they called the police on Fay Wells and within a minute police surround the condo and they call her out when she comes out with her hands up she sees all of these guns that are pointed at her. She is tripping because she simply is living her best black life and now she finds herself having the police called on her because of someone who because of the color of her skin had concluded that she did not belong in that apartment. Can Can you imagine how Faye Wells must have felt to come out of her own place and see police guns pointed at her?

19 Y'all, she is shook by a sucker punch of racism that made her feel that she was othered and she did not belong. Her testimony long after the experience was that she never could feel safe in her own home because she was shook by a sucker punch of racism. I'm simply saying that life every now and then will throw a sucker punch at you that will leave you shook. Who am I talking to that came to church on Easter Sunday? yeah you look good but nobody knows the trouble you've seen you look good but internally you have been shook shook I think that's why Jay-Z put it like this Jay-Z said my death my nephew died from a car my nephew died in a car that I bought I'm fighting to believe it's not my fault I hope y'all get what Hove was testifying. He was believing that when his nephew died, please don't miss this.

29 It's already enough to get shook. Don't miss this by the death of someone that you love, but then to feel that you could have had something to do with it. That is a sucker punch that will leave you shook. Who am I talking to that is feeling right now that life has left you shook because you've been hit by a sucker punch? I think in a real sense I am describing what it means to experience trauma. Yeah, that's the word I've been looking for because when something traumatic hits you and hurts you, it can be a sucker punch that will leave you shook and when it leaves you shook. You know what it means, don't you? Because whenever you've experienced trauma, there are lingering after effects. I'll see if I can make it plain. On the one hand, one lingering after effect is that loop where it keeps playing over and over again. It's like you want it to stop, but it's like a replay that keeps on playing on loop and because it keeps on playing on loop you want to move forward but it keeps yanking you backward and when it yanks you backward you feel it afresh because you were shook and not just shook but on top of that you were shook by a sucker punch that didn't get you not only do you find it playing on loop but on top of that you discover that when you have been shook by a sucker punch my sisters and brothers that somehow some way it becomes frozen in time no you are frozen in time you want to move forward but you can't move forward because you're frozen by what happened back then that still haunts you and handcuffs you and hinders you and hurt you even right now.

34 You got hit by a sucker punch and it left you shook. And somebody came. I see you on Easter Sunday. You're looking good. But you're honestly, you're testifying. Yeah, Freddie, you talking to me. I got hit by a sucker punch and that sucker punch left us shook. That sucker punch left me wondering if I'll be able to bounce back and get back up. That's exactly what happened to the women in this text. The text lets us know if you go back to chapter 23, it's amazing. Sisters refuse to give up as their beloved Lord and liberator, their savior and sin bearer, their teacher and transformer is being lynched on Friday. And y'all, they were hit by a sucker punch. Imagine, go with me back just a week before.

29 It's Palm Sunday and Jesus rides into Jerusalem during a choreographed demonstration. It's a march on Jerusalem during Passover. Now, you get Passover, don't you? Because Passover was a commemoration and celebration of God's liberating move back in Exodus where the book says that God said everyone whose doorpost is covered with the blood of the lamb, you're going to experience a Passover that will pave the way to your exodus and emancipation. You will not experience what others experience, not because you're better than them, but because you're covered with the blood of the lamb. you are going to be set free not because you are smarter than other people but because you are covered with the blood of the lamb.

28 I'm giving y'all shout material and I'm simply trying to say some of us are still here not because we've always been smart or sharp, not because we've always been the best but because we've been covered with the blood of the lamb. And so because they were covered with the blood of the lamb, the Bible lets us know that they were then set up to be set free. They're emancipated. And so Jesus and Jews from all over the world have come back to Jerusalem to look back on what God had done. They are experiencing what Professor Gray Carr of Howard University calls the momentum of memory. It's what the Ghanaian, Akan people called Sankofa. They are looking back in order to move forward. They are understanding that sometimes you've got to be energized by what God has done so you can look forward to what God will do.

30 Dr. Harry S. Wright told us at Bishop College, I know what God can do because I've seen what God has already done. That's a hallelujah right there because somebody who is stuck like Chuck in a jacked up situation right now, God sent me to let you know, just remember what God has already done. This ain't your first rodeo. This ain't the first time that you've been in a jacked up situation. And the same God that did it back then can do it right now. I know what God has done because I've seen what God. I know what God can do because I've seen what God has already done. Preach, Freddie Haynes, I think I am. And so watch this. The text lets us know it's Passover and they come in to the Hosannas in Jerusalem. It's a choreographed march on Washington.

24 That's what Marcus Borg suggests because you understand that this is Passover and understand according to Marcus Borg on the other side of Jerusalem Pilate was coming in on this side Jesus is coming in Pilate who is of course the overseer for the Roman Empire Pilate's coming on one side Jesus on the other side in a real sense there are two parades one is a parade of liberation. The other is a parade of domination and Jesus comes in. No wonder the crowd cries out, Hosanna. Hosanna. Hosanna means what? Save us. Deliver us. Liberate us. And Jesus is coming in and when some of the overseers, the religious overseers hear what's being said, knowing that Pilate is coming into town.

25 At the same time, they try to quiet the crowd. Jesus, being the revolutionary that he is, says if these hold their peace, the rocks are going to cry out. Jesus was welcoming their hosannas. And the book lets us know that Jesus then goes into the temple when evidently Parliament Funkadelic is playing And Jesus sees the money changers exploiting the poor. And Jesus says, I'm going to turn this mother out. And the book lets us know he messes with the money of those who are in power. And now they set him up to take him out. All week long, they are doing what they can to see how they can get him. imagine the women who are with him as they hear the drumbeat of a calvary conspiracy that is taking place and before you know it betrayed by one who walked with them before you know it here come the roman police before you know it he is taken from judgment hall to judgment hall Before you know it, the text lets us know he is beaten by the Roman police.

44 Before you know it, all that is going, all that had been going right suddenly has gone wrong. They've been sucker punched. They are shook as they watch their Savior's nail to a cross, hung high, stretched wide. wide from the sixth to the ninth hour he dies in darkness all because of a sucker punch that left them shook look at the sucker punch the sucker punch I love this the sucker punch had to do with the weaponizing of a system in order to go after those who were othered I think I'll park right there because that's what those in power do. They weaponize the system for their own advantage and the disadvantages and terror of those who are othered and marginalized. Yes, my sisters and brothers, you've got to be careful about who you put in power because some folk, watch this, they ain't got enough security to know how to handle power. Do you know what Jesus did with his power the bible lets us know this ain't in the sermon it's free but it just hit me Jesus watch this is hungry in Matthew chapter 4 because he's been fasting 40 days and 40 nights the bible tells us the devil says if your son of God turn stones into hot water cornbread Jesus said no man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from God and then the book lets us know 10 chapters later he's in the wilderness and y'all know what happened the book says it's a crowd that is food insecure and then Jesus says y'all we need to feed them to his disciples and they say but we ain't got nothing but a two piece and five biscuits he says that's all I need he takes it multiplies by dividing and feeds the multitude he used the power to feed the hungry but not to take care of themselves.

48 I'm trying to let you know when you have people in power who are only about themselves, then what they will do, they will get $3 billion richer from the time they got elected. What they will do, they will weaponize their power and the military to start wars that are unconstitutional, unjust, and unnecessary, and people are getting killed unnecessarily because you don't want us to read the Epstein files. And so you do everything to make sure we don't read the Epstein files. May I help y'all right quick? Because when you have, I'm about to shout you, when you have, uh-oh, prostituted religion and politics in bed together, then you have Paula White saying Trump is just like Jesus. what the hell are you talking about Trump and Jesus ain't got nothing in common oh I got one thing I found out that they have in common and that is Trump is in the Epstein files as much as Jesus is in the Bible I'm on one today.

10 I'm letting y'all know that right now. I'm on one today. Yes, I am. And so watch this. Watch this. I love it. I love it because here is Jesus getting lynched. The women are shook. He's taken down from the cross, put in a borrowed tomb. I will shout you right quick and say the old preacher would say that the only reason he got a borrowed tune because his credit is so good, they knew he'd pay it back. That was good and y'all didn't even shout. I'm going to go ahead and get my own shout on. And so the text lets us know that Jesus is dead. The women are shook by a sucker punch. A sucker punch of injustice. A sucker punch of oppression. A sucker punch of prostituted religion. and the powers of Rome, a sucker punch has left them shook.

08 And the text says, chapter 24, verse 1, but. okay okay I'm I'm I know I talk fast so every now and then I gotta slow my roll so y'all can get it because I gave you a shout oh I know what's up you're in Easter clothes so you don't shout in Easter clothes so I understand so I'm gonna say this as nice as I can and if you don't want to shout I get it okay but I'm gonna read it to you at the end of chapter 23 it says on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. Chapter 24, but I didn't say it right. Let me go back another verse. The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment, but I still didn't get y'all. I got to go back some more verses.

06 It was the first day of preparation and the Sabbath was beginning. The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. Verse 24, chapter 24 before verse 1. But on the first day of the week at early dawn. I'm going to go ahead and Freddie Haynes remix it. That stuff. Freddie Haynes remix it. Chapter 23, he gets lynched. Chapter 23, he dies. Chapter 23, they are shook. Chapter 23, they have a gut punch. Chapter 24, but. Okay. All right. I got to help y'all. You do know I ain't smart like Pastor Magruder who did a brilliant homily during the communion. So I don't have all those words like him. So I don't even know what a conjunction is. But is a conjunction. And I found out what a conjunction was when I was kid because I was watching Saturday morning cartoons and they had a song come on on Schoolhouse Rock and Schoolhouse Rock I hope they bring that back because they even taught civics on Schoolhouse Rock and how to pass a bill on Capitol Hill but but one of them was what a conjunction junction what's that function the function of a conjunction connects what's before with what's after it means if you have an adversity of conjunction like but yet however how be it whatever's on the front side of the conjunction is about to get overruled by what's on the backside of the conjunction.

48 And so in chapter 23, he got lynched. Chapter 23, they are shook. Chapter 23, they get a sucker punch. I want to stop right there because some of y'all been in chapter 23 and you've been shook by a sucker punch, but it's Easter Sunday. And I came to tell y'all on Easter Sunday, but weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning you meant it for evil but God meant it for good the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life I like that I like that because the text lets us know they're shook and about to find out he can cook.

41 How you find out how God cooks when you've been shook? Number one, this shouts to me right here. The text lets us know that you show up and you experience God showing out. Now, I got to give you sisters some major props because none of my boys showed up. Sunday morning, it was the sisters who showed up, though shook.

22 That's why I know, and y'all, they were black women. They had to be black women because that's black women all day long. Black women have been shook, shook by an economy that targeted them. And 400,000 black women who had jobs before this administration don't have jobs right now because they were targeted by this administration. But somehow, sisters, keep on showing up. Why do you say they were targeted, Freddie Haynes? because it's 400,000 black women and the most educated demographic in the country is black women. So how you gonna have black women as the ones who ain't got jobs now? It's because they were targeted. But sisters, keep on showing up. Show up, sisters, show up. Black women, show up.

14 Aren't you glad that black women have shown up? Some of y'all wouldn't be here if a black teacher didn't show up. Some of y'all wouldn't be here if a black mama didn't show up, if a black big mama didn't show up, if a black grandmama didn't show up. Some of us are here because sisters keep on showing up.

36 I'm so glad sisters show up. I love how sisters show up because the text says they show up. And y'all, they're shook. It's early on Sunday. And they show up to embalm the body of an enemy of the state. As a consequence, all of his followers are being watched, but they still show up. They're wounded, but they show up. They're hurting and heartbroken, but they show up. And I'm just convinced that God said, since y'all have the audacity and the faith and the hope to show up anyhow, I'm going to show out for you. Because the text lets us know they get there and watch this.

35 The stone is rolled away. You didn't shout. The stone was too heavy for them to roll it away themselves. And so God made reservations of a way out of no way. So by the time they showed up, the way had already been made for them. I'm going to stop and give y'all a moment to shout. Every now and then, God says, you just keep on walking anyhow. And by the time you get there, I'm going to have reservations with a blessing with your name all over it. But you got to show up. Show up, show up, show up. Stone is rolled away. They go inside and now they shook Samoa. His body ain't there. Oh my God. And while they are shook from the sucker punch, now they're trying to recover from another punch.

31 And two men stand there in dazzling white and they say, y'all chill. It's gonna be all right. He ain't here. He's risen just like he said. remember what he told you I gotta get y'all because here's the beautiful thing the beautiful thing is they're shook from the sucker punch and that's when they discovered because they showed up God showed out God showed out you're shook from a sucker punch but you keep on showing up anyhow So Prince Larell, your main man is here, so I got to give him a story of our favorite player, Steph Curry. Steph Curry, Steph Curry, that's a bad boy right there. Steph Curry is the greatest shooter to ever pick up a basketball. He's changed the game.

28 He's changed the game. And I want to say that to everybody. Please never content yourself just to excel at whatever game you're in. You want to get in it and change it. Make it better. Okay. Steph changed that game. Steph changed that game. Y'all, several years ago, Steph got injured in a game. Went out. They tended to him. Wrapped him up. And he came back. And then Steph hit eight for eight three-pointers. After being injured. Right. he got injured and he could have stayed out the game but he came back showed up and went eight for eight not just on you know free throws but three pointers after the game they asked him how you gonna play better after the injury than you did before the injury and Steph responded it with the sermon. Steph said sometimes it takes an injury to lock in.

39 okay I'm gonna come talk to y'all because they missed every shout I thought they would get that thing sometimes when you get injured that's when you lock in and when you lock in that's when you give it your all you get focused because the injury has hurt you but it hasn't stopped you and now you give it your all because you get locked in and you show up and you keep on playing Okay. All right. I really thought that would get y'all. It didn't, but it's okay because it's Will. So this week I was preaching in New York and every day, every day, and I have a restaurant in New York. It's The Goat. And it's my favorite restaurant. And I went to that restaurant every day, every day. They know me now because I went there every day. And And the last day I was there, waitress said, can I just place your order?

37 Because, you know, I know what you like. And when the cook saw you come in, he started your order. I said, okay. So anyway, sitting down in my seat, minding my black business. and then they escorted someone else in. And they escorted this brother in. And the brother says, Pastor Haynes, congratulations, man. I'm so proud of you. I said, okay, God bless you. What's your name? He says, oh, you don't know me, but I know you. I'm here in New York now. And God has been so good to me. And y'all, he just starts talking. there's something about my face I think where where kids like to race me and and adults think I want to talk and so and I'm fine I'm fine that's cool that's cool and so and so he said Pastor Haynes God has been so good to me I got to tell you what happened I'm about to shout right now because Pastor Haynes God has done something that I just didn't see coming last week at this time you couldn't have told me I was going to stay in New York but pastor God made a move just this weekend I went to a play I'm on my way to a play and the taxi cab I'm in has an accident I hit my head on the thing in front of me and I'm bleeding as a consequence but I got to get to this play because I had been given free tickets to this play pastor Hayes I go to the play and when I get to the play I'm bleeding still and so I go to the bathroom to put something to cover up the blood I go to my seat and while sitting in my seat Pastor Haynes I'm sitting there and I'm thanking God I at least get to see the Michael Jackson play because I've heard it's absolutely amazing Pastor I'm sitting in the seat I'm enjoying the play but I'm also thinking about the fact I'm to have to move back to Dallas and I'm going to have to move back to Dallas because everything

44 is falling apart for me in my desire to go to medical school and then he dropped this he said pastor the person sitting next to me said you know you're bleeding and he said I said yeah I am I tried to stop it but it didn't he said well put this on it and he took something out of his pocket gave me this handkerchief and covered it up. And then he said at intermission, I want to take a look at it. I'm the chief surgeon of so-and-so hospital. He said, oh, wow, that's awesome. I am trying to get in medical school at, and I forgot the name of the school. I'm trying to get in medical school, and they rejected me, and I can't get in. And he said, well, I'm the chairman of the board of that school, so guess what? You're in. I just need to make sure that you're taken care of right now. And pastor, do you know I'm in medical school.

40 I am starting this summer. He also told me I'm going to work in his office. Pastor, I was about to quit, but because I showed up after the accident with blood on my forehead, I now have hope and I got my healing. because pastor if you show up you never know how God will show out and then he said pastor God be showing out don't he I'm trying to say to somebody God be showing out has God ever shown out for you and done something that you know you couldn't have done yourself is there anybody here who can testify God be showing out. Show up. Show up. Thank you, Jesus. But then the text says not only did they show up, but then they receive inspiration at the place of their injury.

40 Who? Freddie Haynes. So you show up and God shows out and then you get inspiration at the very place where you're injured. God says, I don't have to remove you from that place. I can step in the place where you are and then reframe it. Oh my gosh, I'm about to shout. Pastor McGruder, this gets me. I want you to unpack this, okay? Because you can kill this thing. The brothers say, listen, don't y'all remember what he said? he said the son of man stop right there I knew I was preaching in front of y'all so I had to do my homework and I unpacked the term or the phrase son of man do you know what son of man is son of man please don't miss your shout son speaks of new beginning of man humanity so etymologically Jesus is seen as the new beginning of humanity.

48 I'm having myself a good, I'm gonna just preach to myself. Jesus is the new beginning of our humanity. Which simply means whatever happened back then, Jesus says it's a new day now. And since it's a new day now, don't you allow your back then to get in the way of right now. Because I'm setting the stage for you not yet. the Son of Man is going to be handed over into the hands of sinful men. The word for sinful is wicked men. Wicked. Have you ever felt like you were in wicked hands? Have you ever felt like our country is in wicked hands? These are wicked hands, y'all. wicked hands wicked wicked wicked hands with wicked hands and as a consequence you see wicked hands where where somehow we got money to fund a war that is unconstitutional it's unnecessary and yet premiums have gone through the roof people are struggling to make ends meet and now he's saying We don't need to have child care services funded by the federal government.

13 We don't need to have Medicare and Medicaid funded by the federal government. We'll let states do that. What kind of clown have we put in office as the president of this country? My Bible lets us know that we have a responsibility to prioritize those who are poor, those who are struggling, those who are suffering. We pay taxes not for you to fund wars that would justify your ego and distract us and gaslight us from what's really going on. But we pay taxes so that we can take care of one another. That's what this nation should be about. And so watch this, watch this, watch this. So we're in the hands, he's in the hands of wicked people who will lynch him. But the text says on the third day. He coming back.

08 And the text says, and they remembered his words. Okay, I'm going to shout y'all in the balcony. They remembered his rhema. Rhema, rhema, rhema, rhema. I got to do this, rhema, rhema. Rhema in the Greek, it means word. And so they remembered his word. They remembered his rhema. but but it's not the same as logos word rhema watch this is a word that speaks of what has been customized tailored fits it's a rhema word it ain't it ain't off the rack it's it's it's a word that fits you and speaks to you right where you are Okay, I'm not coming through.

05 Let me, oh, I got to do this. So, so, so listen, as you know, I'm old school. So as a consequence, I have old school flashbacks to, to, to parties and dances. And, and like when we were at now defunct, but never dead Bishop College, when we threw parties and of course the alphas threw the best parties. And so it's like the alphas, we were just all of that. I mean, we were the handsomest and then we were the smartest and then we threw the best parties like all in one. It's like, my God, my God, how are you going to give us all of that? And so we threw the best parties and we looked good and then the honeys would come to our parties because they knew we were the smartest and the handsomest and the parties were jumping. And so back then, back then, back then, you would ask the sister to dance. You would ask her to dance and you would jam through the dance, okay?

03 And so some, and you know, and see, when I came along, hip hop was coming into Vogue or was coming in. And so you had, you know, you had a hip hop, a hippie. Yeah, yeah. And Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. It's like a jungle sometimes. It makes me wonder how I keep from going under. don't push me because I'm close to the y'all done been in church all your life huh so y'all with some of them parties and and then then at the same time R&B was still hot and so you had Marvin Gaye I used to go out to party and stand around because I was too nervous to really get down I mean I mean We had all that jumping off.

56 And then my best friend, Marvels, and I, we would DJ. I wish y'all had seen us DJ. I was DJFD. I would do that thing. But here's what I'll never forget. This is the main point I'm trying. All that was free. But here's the main point I'm trying to let y'all know. And that is sometimes sisters would be like waiting to get asked to dance, but a song would come on. And the sister would be like, I ain't waiting. and she would invariably do one of these that's my song and she would just start dancing nobody asked her but that was her song and every now and then God will say something to you every now and then God will get a word to you and and if you got the sister anointing you ought to say that's my word that's my word all things work together for good to those that love God and are called according to God's purposes.

00 That's my word. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. That's my word. Let me go ahead and quit. So, so, so I think I told you about you show up, watch God show out, and then God will inspire you at the place of injury. But then here it is and I'm done. Text shouts me because the text says that they remembered his words and went and told the 11 and everybody else. sisters were the last at the cross and the first to share the good news no let me say it right to preach the gospel that Jesus was alive and well women were the first to preach the gospel which lets me know that and I'm gonna say this and I'm asking you to receive it prayerfully.

04 God is so amazing that the source of your deepest pain can be a setup for your highest purpose. okay I'm gonna talk to y'all over here because they didn't get that thing but the source of your deepest pain can be a setup for your highest purpose why because when you've been hurt in certain ways it gives you a sensitivity you're not judgmental you don't look down your noses at people who've been through what you've been through because you know what it's like you know how it feels and God says I didn't cause that to happen, but I'm going to use what happened in order to use you as an instrument for healing in the same place where you've been hurt, in the same place where you've been broken. So some of you are trying to figure out, God, what's my calling? What's my purpose? Just remember where you've been hurt. Just remember where you've been broken and God brought you through that thing.

09 you're still here and God says I'm going to use you now where you've been bruised so you can heal somebody else Now, I love that because all of this has got me back to my subject. When you've been shook, you're going to experience and watch God cook. Now, I'm going to tell you all something. I just, oh, I love us. We're so amazing. I love everybody, but it just, I just, I just, what God did with us, creativity. Oh, Jesus. And it's like when we play sports, whatever we do, we just bring flavor. Just flavor.

02 And if you watch basketball, watch basketball like I was watching Friday Night and Don Staley. Oh, yeah. Don, that's a bad sister right there. And an old boy nearly got embarrassed on national TV. Because Don loves Jesus, but she's from Philly. And North Philly. And you just don't do that with a sister from North Philly. And then I told the first service, I'll tell y'all, I was in church watching.

36 Don't judge me, okay? I was preaching seven last words, Father Flager at St. Sabina in Chicago. And so, so Carolyn and Knight and I, we were seated together, but upstairs before we went to church, we're watching the game and, and Yukon is winning and South Carolina's losing. And, and so they call us, say, y'all, it's time to go to church. We got to preach. And so, okay, we got to preach. So, so, uh, don't judge. No judge. No judge. Okay. So, so we go downstairs and me and Carolyn are sitting next to each other. And so Carolyn, I see her on her phone. So I'm thinking it's her sermon on her phone. My sermon's on my phone. And Carolyn has the game on.

22 You never know what we're doing on these phones, you know. And so I hit her and she said, I said, hallelujah. And thankfully somebody was preaching. So when I said hallelujah, it was like. and then and then went back to the sermon and then the game was over and so she hit me showed it to me and I said look at God nothing was going on in church and so I just oh God is just good God is just and uh so so so anyway uh game is over and then my notifications because I follow Don Staley my notifications come up that old boy came for her he came for her and and and it upset me because it's like I wish I was there because in the name of table turning Jesus you know I mean it had been on and popping and so so so I wasn't there and and she handled it because you know she's a sister and so so I'm watching the game and win the game and all that stuff but during the game something happened that I got to give to y'all whenever we make a shot that's like phenomenal, three-pointer, what have you, and we run back down the other end of the court, we don't just run back down the other end of the court.

01 We got to show you that we just did something. I got to show y'all what happened. Sister made the shot. Shot goes in. you know what she's saying watch me cook I just got through cooking that's what you just saw you saw me cooking and that's when God gave me my subject for the sermon right now because God let me know you think she can cook you think she can make a shot God said watch me cook watch me cook on Sunday morning and my son gets up from death watch me cook I'm simply trying to say if you walk with God long enough, life is going to leave you shook. But don't you let shook have the last word because God will go to cooking. All things work together for good to those that love God and are called according to God's purposes. Watch God cook. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Watch God cook. Weaving may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Watch God cook. God is a cooking God. If God before you who can be against you watch God cook. Be anxious for nothing but by everything with prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God and the peace of God that passeth all understanding will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Watch God cook and when you see God cook you may testify Can't nobody do me like Jesus.

47 Can't nobody do me like the Lord. What God took. God sent his son. They called him Jesus. He came to love. He'll let me forgive. He lived and died to buy my pardon. An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives. And because he lives, I can face tomorrow. because he lives. All fear is gone because I know he holds the future.
