47 just before we lay hands on our children. I think it's very, very fitting. verse 29 and the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons after him. God told him to make the garments in the first part of the chapter, but he said the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons after him to be anointed in them, to be consecrated in them. The son who becomes priest in his place shall put them the same garment on for seven days. And when he enters the tabernacle of meeting to minister in the holy place. And then I want to go over to Numbers chapter 20. Or Numbers chapter 20, I believe it is.
44 And verse 25. Now Aaron dies. This is this is something. Aaron was the first high priest. He was the priest of Israel. And now he's dying and his sons are about to receive his garment. His son is about to put on the same garment his father wore. It's a generational garment. That's what I'm preaching on. Passing on a generational garment to your children and your children's children. Take Aaron and Elie and Eliezer, his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor and strip Aaron of his garments and put them on Eliezer, his son. For Aaron shall be gathered to his people and die there. I mentioned in the nine o'clock service.
36 I love that phrase. He'll be gathered to his people. God's letting you know that when your family dies in the faith, your people are waiting on you on the other side. In heaven, you die unto your people. You go where your people are if you're right with the Lord. And notice what he says here. And strip Aaron of his garments and put it on his son and he shall be gathered unto his people. And so Moses, verse 28, stripped him of his garments and put them on Eleazar. And Aaron died there on top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain. A brand new generation wearing the same garment the father wore. When the garment was made and God gave the instructions, He said, make sure the garment that you're making for Aaron will also be worn by his sons and his children following him.
42 I believe today that my mission is to stand and proclaim and ask God to lay a blessing upon our families. I'm believing with all of my heart that God will bless every family represented under the sound of my voice. And when hands are laid upon children in that family, God will recognize that family as blessed. The most complicated and challenging thing in life sometimes can be family. And yet God still designed it. The family is God's plan on earth today. Strong families make strong churches. Strong churches make strong cities and communities. And strong communities make strong nations.
39 No wonder the number one thing that Satan is fighting in this room more than anything else is to destroy the blessing of God upon families. The enemy wants to attack every family and divide them and destroy them. What we need is a baptism of strong families in this nation right now. God can refocus a family's love from one to the other. It is not God's will for us to be our own enemies with one another, but God wants to re-flicker the flame that is burning low in every marriage, in every family, and in love one for another.
33 God lay a blessing on our families today in Jesus' name. Moses, take Aaron, God said, and take his sons with them. And I want you to anoint them for service unto me. I'm calling this family. I'm placing a special anointing on this family. I'm going to lay my hand on him and on his children and his children's children, his wife, all of them. I will bless this family. They will be unique unto me. Make garments and make sure that they have a distinctfulness. When that garment is seen on that family, everybody in the community will know that family is different from other families. You say, well, what does that got to do with me and my family? I'm not in the priesthood.
28 Well, really you are. Because 1 Peter chapter 2 and verse 9 says, when you come to Christ, you are part of a royal priesthood. We don't go to a priest. We go to our high priest, Jesus Christ. And he says to every man in this room, you are the priest of your family. And every single mother, you are the priest of your family. And every person of faith, whether your children are serving the Lord or not, you grandparents, you are the priest of that home. And God says, your family, because of your covenant with me, is not like other families in my eyes. There is an anointing on my family. Hallelujah. There is a blessing on my family. There is a covering over my family.
24 We're not perfect. We never will be perfect. But he's perfect. The Lamb of God is perfect. His blood is perfect and his word is perfect. And he said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house. Clap your hands and praise the Lord for that. The question that I want to ask you this morning is what kind of garment are you passing to the next generation? You see, you will not pass on what you talk. you will only pass on the garment that you wear if I say Jesus is my priority but the family never sees me wearing Christ on Monday and Tuesday and Thursday and Friday that's the garment you are literally making a garment for the children in your family every time you come to God's house, you're sewing it together. Every time you read this book, every time you go on prayer walks, every time you seek God's face, God says you are giving a garment and it's not just for here and now, but it's for your children. It will be passed from generation.
47 Even when you die spiritually, there is a generational garment. That's why it's so important to not let a choir praise the Lord for you. Every time you praise the Lord this morning, you were creating a garment of faith, a garment of praise, a garment of prayer, a garment even sitting here this morning. The fact that you got up and came to church is not wasted time. You are forming a spiritual garment over your children that will outlive you. your prayers never die they never they never expire they never go away the bible said even your tears are put in bottles and your prayers are poured out on the throne on the altar in heaven as incense you're forming every time you come in this room and you're throwing up your hands and you're letting your children off in the children's ministries and they're being taught the word There is a spiritual garment that is passed from mom and dad to the children.
53 Don't teach them to be inconsistent in church attendance because the garment you make them is the one they'll wear. this is a priority. As a matter of fact, success begins on Sunday. This is not some little entertainment center here. This is a big deal. I want my children to love God's house. I want my children to think that is essential more than anything else. That house of God is essential.
25 Because that's what will get them into eternity. Nothing else. Hallelujah. What we wear is not what we profess. It's what we wear. Wear the garments well, dad. Wear the garments well, mom. Teach your kids. Number one, there's three quick garments I'm going to give you. Number one, the garment of praise. It's found in Isaiah 61 in verse 3. It says, put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. In other words, every parent needs to be a worshiper and appraiser. You wear the garment of praise. And when you do that, your children will catch that garment of praise. It's very important that you be deliberate in being a worshiper. If dad doesn't worship, children don't worship 99 times out of 100.
27 I've watched it through the years. And I'm telling you that we got to get beyond ourself and get out of our own head and understand worship isn't just about here and now. I'm preparing a garment of praise. When I stand up here and I sing and I preach, I understand that my father wore a garment of praise. My mother, who's sitting down here, 91, I guess, 90, she's just 90. Well, she's just 90. She don't want me to put extra year on her, but, but she's got an old garment that's being passed down to me. When I go see her in the mornings, she, she will have her Bible open. She will have something going on. She will either be praying or have something on the worshiping. She's going to be in the word. All of that has been passed to me and to my siblings and to my children and my children's children and on and on. The same thing with Cherise. We are blessed because we can give our children a garment of praise. You teach them how to throw a baseball. You teach them how to throw a football. You teach them how to swing a golf club. You teach them how to hit a ball. Why can't you teach them how to praise the Lord? Why can't we do that? Why can't we pass on? If you're going to teach them how to cast a rod and reel, teach them how to throw that hand up and just get it up. If you have to grab it and lift it up in the middle of the praise service. The other morning, Sharice and I had the baby and she's seven right at eight months. And I guess she is eight months now. And we were leaving and Sharice, Sharice said, watch her, watch her, watch her. And she, and she said, praise the Lord. And little bitty dot, dot put her hand up just like praise the Lord, dot, dot. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Lift your hand and praise the Lord. If I ever needed you, I need you right now. Come on, praise the Lord. There she goes. She's giving you a Pentecostal. She was, she was shaking a little bit. Hallelujah. How many of you believe we ought to praise the Lord so good that it's not a strange thing to hear our children play in church at home? Amen. Sometime I saw one of, one of our friends,
32 the Pentecost sent us a video of their granddaughter and she was saying, she had on her little outfit and she was riding one of those little cars out in the yard and she said, praise Jesus. Hallelujah. And I said, somebody's doing something right. When's the last time your child said, praise the Lord. When's the last time they raised their hand? Maybe they never see it in you. I'm not being self-righteous or ugly. I'm just saying this ought not to be the only place you worship. What really matters is in your car sometimes or in your house. And when they see you going through stuff and it doesn't defeat you, but you throw that feeble hand up when you're going through hell and tears are streaming down your face and you give him the sacrifice of praise, that stuff gets in your children. It'll outlive you. It will be passed down. Everybody take a praise break and give God some glory. He's going to bless your family.
33 psalms 145 and verse 4 said one generation will praise him unto another generation and declare his mighty acts isn't that beautiful that from one generation to the other to the other they'll be praising the lord and then there's another garment it's called the garment of faith. In 2 Timothy chapter 1 in verse 5, Paul says something astounding. He says, Timothy, the faith that I see in you, I saw first in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice. And now I am persuaded I see it in you. I want you to know that his father's not mentioned. She was a single mother and a grandmother, but that old granny started a, a, a garment of praise and a garment of faith.
34 And he said, the faith that I see that I saw in bygone years in your grandmother and in your mother, I see it in you. I see a faith in you faith. What is that garment of faith? is teach your children that God can do anything.
54 Man, when they were singing that last song, and even the one about the name of Jesus, there's so much power in that name. And if ever there needed to be churches that proclaim miracles still happen, you can still get a miracle. You can still recover. You can still see it. Let's not give up on signs and wonders and miracles. If you need a miracle, Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever. If you believe it, say, I believe. I have the garment of faith.
30 Pass on the garment of faith that God can save anybody, that God can heal anybody. And Aaron's generation and need to wear that garment. We need to, you know, we need to still have some oil, anointing oil in our homes. And we need to anoint the children every once in a while. We need to lay hands when they get sick. We need to teach our children that faith matters in this family. That we believe God will do it. And I've had to stand and believe when I wasn't seeing it. But faith is the substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things not seen. We walk by faith, not by sight. Hallelujah. And when you can't see it, if you can believe it, God can do it. the call of the spirit to Aaron's sons it's not just to Aaron it's not just to admire your daddy's garment admire your mother's prayer life admire your granny and your grandpa's walk with God and that's great that's great for them but he said that garment was made with you in mind that when God designed it, he made it fit you in the present generation just as good as it did grandma and grandpa and mom and dad or just mom. It doesn't matter if you've got one person of faith in that family, there's a garment waiting for you to put it on.
11 the garment was not supposed to be made for him and his generation only, but it was designed with multiple generations in mind. Wear the same garment that your previous generation wore, one of faith, one of praise. You see, the garment of prayer and fasting still wears well in this generation. The garment of sanctification and holiness and purity and keeping yourself for marriage still wears well in this generation. the garment of living a sober life, of living a life of consecration, of staying away from wickedness and immorality.
14 It still wears. You've got that covering. All you have to do is put it on. Repent of your sins, be washed, and put that garment of faith and that garment of praise on. It'll fight your battles. It's your greatest weapon. I'm telling you, there's a lot of fasting going into that garment. There's a lot of prayers going into that garment. There's a lot of church services that you weren't in, but because somebody who loved you was in those services, that garment has been formed. And many times when I'm preaching, the Lord will whisper to me and say, well, you preach pretty good today, but I'm gonna tell you why it had nothing to do with you. Your parents formed the garment and you just put it on. Somebody clap your hands if you believe that grace is working stronger than iniquity. That the blessing is stronger than the curse. That what kept other generations will keep this generation.
09 in Jesus name wear it God's calling you in your 20s God's calling you in your teens God's calling you in your in adolescence he's calling our children and he's saying they're mine and when we pray for them in just a moment and I'm on my last point But when we pray for them, it's the garment, not only a praise and the garment of faith. But lastly, he said, make them garments of anointing and consecration for this generation too.
55 There is the Aaron's sons who live in houses they did not build. And they drink from wells they did not dig. And they get to eat the harvest that they did not plant. And I think about the young people that have a call of God, even in our college, that have come in. And there's a call of God on you. And we don't say this from looking down our nose, but you didn't dig this well. And you didn't build this house. People sacrifice. You know, one of the stories that I was reminded of last week that someone told me, her daughter actually, that Sister Jordan, who still is not able to come to church like she used to, but she watches online. But we were in the little bitty church down the road. And we were in our first building program.
52 She couldn't sing and she couldn't preach. But that woman could cook. and she's the best cake maker that I have ever ate a cake from is that not true Sharice you know it's the truth that that's not throwing shade on her I'm just saying that not everybody's gifted like this woman with these cakes she made and if you've ever had any you know what I'm talking about. She used to make us cakes every Christmas and it was in turtles, caramel turtles with pecans in the middle of them. Mind your own business. Let's go. Now, now, now listen to me.
36 You know what she did? She, she got so burdened and believed that we could buy that property down the road and build that old sanctuary that's down there. And she said, I can't give a million I can't give $100, but I can bake some cakes. And she started baking cakes. And before she knew it, she was given hundreds and even thousands of dollars baking cakes all week long and selling them to people and giving the proceeds. that's what I'm talking about that's what I'm talking about and all of you who are sitting here somebody else did this because they were wearing the garment so you could sit there but here's my challenge to you you're supposed to put on the same garment same kind of consecration, same kind of sacrifice. Do you know how much we fasted and prayed to get where we are today? Now we need a new generation who will not have one foot in the world and one foot in the church. We need some people who will come up and say, I'm not gonna, I'm not just gonna hear the stories about the good old days. These are the good old days.
