I Didn’t Ask | Reggie Dabbs

It's time for us to realize that the world is going to let us down. The world is going to disappoint us, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through Jesus. And if we are the answer, we must be the answer. I get to do a lot of public schools and I'm not able to say Jesus. And my favorite are elementary kids, literally pre-K four to sixth grade. So when I do that, I say stuff like this. Everybody repeat after me. Everybody repeat after me. Say, I am a hero, not a villain. Okay. Come on. Say, I am a hero. Now, how do you teach your little kid that I'll do this. I was the other day, I had a college student saw me at the airport and they walked up to me and all they said was I'm Batman. And I went, shut up. Now let me explain. Okay. So when I'm with elementary kids near the end of my assembly program, I put it like this. Well, one day I had to do schools. It was the week of Halloween and they made me go to Ohio. I hate Ohio. Let's just get that out of there. Okay. …

From Groans to Glory
Guest speaker, 2026-07-19

Oh, death, where is your victory? Oh, death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus, our groans will be as nothing to what will be revealed on the last day of all history. On that day, Jesus will return. One day, he will come back for us. One day, he will destroy all the decay and groaning and fertility of creation. One day, he will restore all of creation to its beauty and wonder. Oh, it'll be a new creation, and we will experience the redemption of our bodies. We in the church have been confessing this confident hope for centuries in the words of the Apostles' Creed, I believe in the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Of course, it hasn't happened yet. But I believe we get glimpses of that glory to be revealed even now. In our home, we have a two-year-old golden retriever named Luke. …

The Coming Of The King – Part 3
Jack Hibbs, 2026-06-03

… Hey, I thought you were so powerful. I thought you were so cruel. Well, it is, but Christ broke the grave. The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and all God's people said amen to that. Amen to that. Absolutely. And that strength is the righteousness of Christ, which is the technical term is imparted. Christ, by his work at the cross, imparts his righteousness to all who believe. I know that's hard to fathom, and maybe it's impossible to fathom, which is why we need faith to just believe him. But according to God's ledger, according to God's record keeping, he sees you completely righteous in Christ he see he doesn't see you with all of your sin issues and all of your weirdness we're all weird just get get over it we're all weird but in Christ Jesus you've been born again and made alive the last part of us to be made alive will be our bodies. Your mind is being renewed by the word of God, and your spirit has been quickened or made alive by the Holy Spirit the moment you were born again, the Bible tells us, and that last part of that trichotomy, body, soul, and spirit, is that the body will be either transformed at the resurrection moment of the rapture, or raised from the dead, and you'll meet the Lord in the air. That's what belongs to the church. We'll see this more and more. …

The Coming Of The King – Part 2
Jack Hibbs, 2026-05-27

… or hell, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus satisfied the law. Listen, Jesus satisfied the law by his perfect life. He filled it up, so to speak, because he was perfect. He met all the demands of the law. Only God can do that. Only God can meet the demands of the law that he gave. Christ did that. And by doing that, he disabled sin because, listen, And by disabling sin, he satisfied the law. So the law was no longer looking because it had become satisfied. Are you hearing me? and your life is hidden in Christ. You say, well, I'm not sinless. No, you're not. Neither am I. But as a believer, you're in Christ. And now the power of sin, because the law has no power over you, sin has no power over your life. You've been set free from that. When you and I give in to sin, it's because we choose it. We're no longer slaves to it. We are slaves to Jesus now. …

Second Chances and First Impressions
Michael Zeigler, 2026-04-26

… and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Therefore, my beloved brothers, sisters, be steadfast. immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord, your labor is not in vain. That's from 1 Corinthians chapter 15. The song that Brian sang for Stacey wasn't at first intended to be a love song. The song is titled I'll Be. It hit the charts in 1998, peaked at number five, and has been trending on wedding reception playlists ever since. Maybe you recognize the chorus if you're around my age. It goes, I'll be your crying shoulder. I'll be love's suicide. I'll be better when I'm older. I'll be the greatest fan of your life. It might not sound like much, but apparently over one million Dr. Phil viewers voted it as the best wedding song ever written. The songwriter's original intention, however, was 180 degrees different than how fans have received it. …

Clay Anderson | To Die is Gain
Clay Anderson, 2026-04-20

… The sting of death is sin. The power of sin is the law, but thanks be to God who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. You do not have to walk to the gates of death because Christ possessed them for himself and he turned them for his people into the gates of heaven, into the entrance into eternal life. Paul continues, therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. What can we do because of the benefits of Christ's death? Well, first, be steadfast. Do not stop bringing your sins to the foot of the cross, the very place where Christ promises to pay for them, to bury them in the ground and deal with them no more. He is ready. He is willing and able. He wants to wipe your record clean. And so, if you are not in Christ, bring your sins to him. And if you are, continue to. Be steadfast. Do not waver, Christian, from the simple gospel message, the truth, that we are sinners in need of a Savior. …

Not in Vain
Guest speaker, 2026-04-19

… The Apostle Paul helps answer this question in today's reading from 1 Corinthians. I'd like to read to you from 1 Corinthians 15, verses 50-58. Paul writes, I tell you this, brothers. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. …

This Body Must Be Raised: Four Reasons for Your Resurrection
John Piper, 2026-02-07 · Scripture reading

… One. abound what does abound mean means do lots of it abound in the work of the Lord that's your studies right now it's what he's given you to do so because you're going to be raised from the dead don't be a slacker The language of verse 58 of 1 Corinthians 15 is paradoxical. I love it. Be steadfast and movable, do lots of work. Like an oak tree, not moving one inch, no matter what winds blow, and doing lots of work. That's a remarkable paradox. And our job, our goal here at this school is to try to make oaks of righteousness out of you that don't budge from anything in the truth of God's word. You don't budge. You're a tree, immovable. And you go all over the world doing work filling up your one life with work that he's given you to do. That's an amazing picture, isn't it? There's a correlation between life now and working and the resurrection life coming. If there's no correlation, the verse makes no sense at all. Since you're raised, your work is not in vain. …

… because of the empty tomb. I'm already a winner. Oh, look at this one. I love this one. First Corinthians 15, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. It's kind of like, have you seen this on social media? When they say, you know, um, they, they make fun of like somebody on the team that was on the team. They're on the group project. They did nothing to help the group project, but they still get the A? You know, or they point out an athlete that's like, didn't do nothing to help, but they still got the championship. That's like you and I with Jesus. We did nothing to get the victory. Jesus did all the work on the cross, but we... but I'm standing in righteousness. I'm standing justified. I'm standing born again. I'm standing in victory. What did you do to earn it? I didn't do anything to earn it. Well, what did you, how, how come you deserve it? I don't deserve it. That's called grace. Grace is undeserved blessing and unmerited favor. I'm not trying to get a victory. I'm living from a victory. I already, come on, we already won. We know how the story ends. Come on, clap if you believe that the devil has been defeated and the God of peace will soon crush Satan underneath your feet like a Toronto Blue Jay. …

… The strength of sin is the law, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ because he died under the law for my sin. Therefore, it's been removed from me. Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, you should be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord because you know, because of the resurrection of Jesus, that in the Lord, your labor is not in vain. Here is Paul's summary of the difference that the truth of the resurrection should make in our lives. Number one, because of the resurrection, death has no more sting for you. Death, whether our own or the death of a loved one, is life's hardest experience because it feels so permanent. But y'all, if the resurrection is true, it's not permanent at all. It's just a temporary change of address because Jesus took the sting out of death. The sting of death is its permanence. That's what Jesus took into himself on the cross so that when he went through death, because he took the sting of sin, death for us would just be a temporary rite of passage. Sometimes we'll say things like, I lost my dad to cancer, or I lost my wife or I lost my baby. Friends, you have not lost them. We know exactly where they are. …

Easter 2018
Francis Chan, 2018-04-01

… that is written, death is swallowed up in victory. Oh, death, where is your victory? Oh, death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord, your labor is not in vain. Amen. It's more powerful than anything any of us could say. It's the Word of God. And the Bible says the Word of God is like the rain from heaven. It comes down and it always accomplishes what it needs to do. Like the rain doesn't fall from the sky without hitting the dirt and, you know, making the seeds do what they do. You know, it's going to accomplish. And he says, in the same way, that's what my word does. Just read it, and it'll accomplish something here. That's different from my words. …
