… Well look at this verse. First Peter chapter one verse four. God has reserved a priceless inheritance. It's bigger than any IRA or retirement payout you could possibly have here on earth. God has reserved a priceless inheritance for his children and it is kept in heaven for you. I don't know if you knew that or not. But when you get to heaven, you're not just gonna get there, you're gonna be honored, you're gonna be rewarded, and you're going to receive your inheritance based on how you lived your life for Christ. Let me show you one more. Matthew 25, verse 34. Jesus is speaking. He says, come, you who are blessed by my Father, take your inheritance. The kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Look at that verse closely. God knew before he created the universe that he was gonna create you. And God knew that you would be one of the ones who chose to love him, to trust him, to put your faith in him. …
… of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled and unfading, kept in heaven for you. No matter what your life looks like, no matter what pain you are bearing and suffering with right now, I need you to understand that to be a Christian means that you say, I'm still alive today. And because I'm still alive today, that must mean that God still has blessings in the future like he did for these people. From this day, I will bless you. Well, if I'm still alive, I guess I'm gonna believe it. I'm gonna get to see those blessings. But I haven't yet. I don't know how badly you've messed things up. I don't know what relationships you've damaged, what trust you have broken. I don't know what your proverbial harvest looks like right now. I don't know if you have a good crop right now. But because of verse 19, I know this. If God were truly done with you, you wouldn't be here right now. …

… that's die, and be with Christ, which is far better. And then he went on to say, or hang around with you guys. Next verse. 1 Peter 1, verse 4. Jesus Christ died for us so that we might inheritance an incorruptible, undefiled, that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you. How's that? Wow. You want to talk about retirement and pension plan? Jesus is it. One final one, Acts 4. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. And that name is? Father God, we come to you today. God, we pray now in the name of Jesus. While every head's bowed and our eyes are closed and we are sitting still. We don't want to be a disruption. We pray now, Lord God, for the opportunity that's going to make some people very nervous in a moment. People are going to want to leave. I pray that you'd keep them in their seat. …
… has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation to be revealed in the last time. You know, we are living in a culture where hope is fading fast. I read something this week by the World Health Organization that said there is a profound, widespread sense of hopelessness that is currently affecting many people. People are anxious about the future. They're anxious about current events. They're worried about the economy. They're worried about the political polarization in our own country. And several surveys have noted that a record number of people, especially young people, are feeling depressed and anxious and have a lack of hope. A little article in Psychology Today noted that almost 50, 50, 5-0, 50%, half of our population are feeling depressed and even hopeless. and one of the biggest reasons for that is people are always looking down at one of these things they're looking down at their phones all the time they get a 24 7 dose of reality every time they look down at their phones and they hear of wars and rumors of wars and unrest and government shutdown and terrorism. We're always exposed to it because we're looking down. You know, Jesus tells us to do exactly the opposite, to look up, not look down. Jesus said, when these things begin …
… through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, unfading, kept in heaven for you who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. So if somebody asks you this afternoon, so what are you hoping in? You say, I'm hoping in eternal life. Death is a doorway to Jesus. I believe all my sins are forgiven. I don't have any guilt anymore because of Jesus. And I'm going to spend eternity happy with Jesus. And they'll say, why do you believe that? What will you say? Well, there's two answers right there. You say, because I've been born again. Second, you say reason number two, Jesus was raised from the dead. Now, if you're like me, you think that's not enough. Got to give a reason for the reason. And then you got to give a reason for the reason for the reason. ad infinitum, until you get to an absolutely incontrovertible argument. …
… underline that of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable undefiled and unfading underline inheritance and that inheritance is kept in heaven for you who is the you? You who are being protected okay by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Blessed be God and the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by his great mercy. Somebody holler as loud as you can great mercy. You have great mercy working in your life. Don't know what that is? God's compassionate, divine kindness overlooking your faults, working things out for your good. Because of his great mercy, say this loud too, he's given us a new birth. That means I don't care how you were born, you can be born again. In Christ, we get to get in the water like we did in our mother's womb when we were in the water and in the ambiotic fluid. You were born the first time you came out the water. …
… from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls." Marvelous portion of Scripture. And I want to draw your attention to two statements. One of them appears in verse 6, at the beginning of the verse, "'In this you greatly rejoice.'" This is a statement of fact. …
… There is prepared for us an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you." Again, Peter is saying, based upon the regenerating work of God out of His great mercy, we have been given a hope that lives because Christ lives. And when that hope is realized, we will receive an inheritance imperishable, undefiled, unfading, reserved in heaven for you. It's reserved in heaven for you and for no one else. That is the security of our salvation. Further, he says in verse 5, that we are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. The full revelation of our final salvation and the receiving of that glorious heavenly inheritance is for us and no one else, and we are protected by the power of God for that final revelation. So Peter is literally affirming the security of salvation, the security of salvation. You will one day be in glory, as it says at the end of verse 8, and greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, because you will obtain as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls." This is security. …
… Put this verse down. First Peter, chapter 1 and verse 4. Peter's talking about what we have in heaven and he says we have an inheritance, incorruptible and undefiled that fadeth not away reserved in heaven for you. Incorruptible. Incorruptible. You see, our Lord spoke of that where the maws can eat it, the rust can corrode it, the thieves can get it. Our Lord is saying, you better have a safety deposit box in heaven where the foul breath of decay and the gnawing tooth of time and some thief cannot get what belongs to you. Incorruptible, undefiled. That means that it's not tainted money. It's not tainted wealth. Doesn't have a curse upon it. Unfading. That means no fees, no court costs, no taxes, no inflation. Can't take it away. Reserved in heaven for you. That's pretty good treasure. Jim Elliott, that missionary who gave his life to take the gospel to the Acre Indians and was slain there by the Acres, run through with a spear. Fine young missionary, died in the prime of his life, but he wrote these immortal words in the fly leaf of his Bible, no man is a fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. That's pretty good philosophy. You see, he's talking about a treasure in heaven. That's what our Lord is talking about. Now, how can you HAVE TREASURE IN HEAVEN. HOW CAN YOU HAVE TREASURE IN HEAVEN? …
