1Therefore, since Christ suffered in His body, arm yourselves with the same resolve, because anyone who has suffered in his body is done with sin. Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;2Consequently, he does not live out his remaining time on earth for human passions, but for the will of God.that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.3For you have spent enough time in the past carrying out the same desires as the Gentiles: living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and detestable idolatry. For we have spent enough of our past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and having walked in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries:4Because of this, they consider it strange of you not to plunge with them into the same flood of reckless indiscretion, and they heap abuse on you. They think it is strange that you don’t run with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you.Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:5But they will have to give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. They will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.6That is why the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. For to this end the Good News was preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed as men in the flesh, but live as to God in the spirit. For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.7The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and sober, so that you can pray. But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:8Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:9Show hospitality to one another without complaining.Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.Use hospitality one to another without grudging.using hospitality one to another without murmuring:10As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another. As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;11If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God. If anyone serves, he should serve with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; if any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.12Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you, as though something strange were happening to you.Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you:13But rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory. But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice, that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy.14If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you.15Indeed, none of you should suffer as a murderer or thief or wrongdoer, or even as a meddler. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men’s matters. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men’s matters:16But if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but glorify God that you bear that name. But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter.Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.17For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God?For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don’t obey the Good News of God?For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?18And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?”And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?19So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should entrust their souls to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.
