… I want to call your attention in these few moments to the book of 2 Corinthians. And while you are getting 2 Corinthians chapter 9 verse 10, would you praise God with me for this amazing choir? They have blessed us just powerfully. Yes, Lord. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. 2 Corinthians chapter 9 verse 10. Vincent, when I was at now defunct but never dead Bishop College, our dean my first semester, freshman year, was Dr. Harry S. Wright. Dr. Harry S. Wright introduced me, because I had never heard of it, to Clarence Jordan's cotton patch version of the Bible. Clarence Jordan was a brilliant New Testament scholar, advocate, and activist who in the deep south as a white man used his privilege for those who were underprivileged and then had the nerve to take the Bible they had used against us and showed us just how wrong they were. And so I want to read from 2 Corinthians chapter 9 verse 10 from the cotton patch version of Paul's epistles and listen to what it says in verse 10. …

The Laws of Sowing and Reaping - Part 3
Rick Warren, 2026-09-01

… Because if I plant them all, some of that stuff is going to pop up and crop in 30-fold. Look at the next verse, 2 Corinthians 9, verse 10. For God, who supplies seed to the farmer and bread to eat. By the way, where's all the seed come from? It comes from God. The seed that the farmer has comes from God. For God who supplies seed to the farmer and bread to eat will give you more and more seed. Give you more and more seed to plant and will make it grow so that you can give away more and more fruit from your harvest. Now this verse is a promise about being generous with money. But it applies more than to just money. The more you give away, the more you're going to get back. This is the law of the harvest. And one of the things that seeds are, are our words. You need to start thinking of your words as seeds. And when you say words, you plant them in the minds of your children. …

A Legacy of Grace | J.D. Greear

… Whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. The God who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness as you give. As you give, you're gonna be enriched in every way. Obedience in giving, Paul says, obedience in giving is the means by which God grows and multiplies the richness of grace in our lives. Giving is like a seed, he says. A seed you put into the ground and it multiplies into all kinds of enrichment. It comes back much greater than what you put in. You say, well, what kind of enrichment are you talking about exactly, Paul? Well, look at what Paul says. Verse 11, you will be enriched in every way. What does in every way mean? Would every way include financial enrichment? As in when you give and trust God that God will increase you financially? Yes, that is certainly included in the word every. Every is a big old expansive word, isn't it? …

Money Matters: Part 1 - The Benefits of Giving
John K. Jenkins Sr., 2026-06-16

… time to do all five verses i haven't time i don't have time to verse 10 through 15 but verse uh 10 says now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food supply and multiply Apply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. Somebody say, God wants to increase the fruits of your righteousness. What does it mean? He wants to open up doors that you could have never opened. He wants to provide blessings to which you would have never gotten had it not been for the grace of God and the power of God and the presence of God. He wants you to be able to experience it all for his glory and for his honor. I don't know where y'all are, but I'm on a high. I'm giving God praise. I'm shouting. I'm giving him thanks. Amen. I'm counting my blessings. Amen. I know it works. Y'all don't have to, you don't have to listen to me. You don't have to do anything I'm saying. …

Turn the Cat Around | J.D. Greear

… ingrained fear, Paul says, verse six, he who sows sparingly will reap sparingly. He who ever sows bountifully, we'll also reap bountifully. Verse 10, the God who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness as you give. Generosity, Paul says, is like a seed that you plant in faith. Planting a seed always involves taking a risk. Taking that risk usually feels scary. I remember reading about an excruciating choice that a lot of Midwest farmers faced in the 1930s. Many, many farmers had moved out west because the ground was fertile, and for a while, things were great, and they kept getting these bumper crops. But then in 1931, the Midwest entered into one of the worst sustained droughts in American history. And by the end of the 1930s, many of these farmers were on the verge of bankruptcy. Now, it looked like the drought was starting to end, but there was of course no way to be sure and here was the dilemma that many of these farmers faced in the fall of 1939. Planting seed meant that you were putting about a month's salary into the ground and if no rain came then that investment would be lost. Many of these farmers had just enough grain left to feed themselves and their families for one more year. If they planted these seeds and no rains came. All would be lost and they would be left destitute. Thankfully, the rains …

Generosity in Community
David Platt, 2025-09-10

… is an example. Paul points to these churches in Macedonia. We're going to see him kind of lift them up as an example. And the second passage we're going to look at is 2 Corinthians chapter 9, verse 6 through 15. And what this is over here is basically some truths based on this example. So we're going to be all over the place going back and forth, just turning between these two chapters. But to try to get this picture, let's camp out on these two passages. 2 Corinthians chapter 8, verse 1. Paul writes, service to the saints. And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will. So we urged Titus, since he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part. But just as you excel in everything, in faith, in speech, and knowledge, in complete earnestness, and in your love for us, Okay, go over to the next chapter. …

… Move down to verse 10. Now may he who supplies seed for the sower and bread for food supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruit of your righteousness. While you are enriched in every way for all liberality which causes thanksgiving through us to God. The phrase that I want to camp on for just a few minutes here is found in verse 10. May he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of righteousness. Once again, notice the connection between fruits of righteousness and generosity. But here's where the Apostle Paul breaks down what is given to our life. Let's say you receive a paycheck. You receive an inheritance. You receive whatever it is. You have income coming into your life. The apostle Paul breaks it down into two realms, bread and seed, bread and seed. So let me discuss those two realms for you in a moment. But first, my approach to our finances is that I take the 10%, let's say I have $1,000, I take $100 out, it is not mine. …
