This is Paul the Apostle in his ministry team. By the way, they had been ministering for days and this slave girl was somehow lingering near the entourage in some way. so she had a spirit of divination a demon spirit of telling the future or prognosticating they can't tell the future unless it's something that they can read or know about by what's proclaimed but demons know human conduct and we're probably pretty predictable so she had a spirit of divination she met us who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling that's demonic this girl followed Paul and us and cried out saying these men are the servants of the most high God who proclaim to us the way of salvation is there anything wrong with what she said? not a word what she said was exactly perfect it was the vessel from which it was coming from It was the individual. …

So this demon-possessed woman now starts following the apostles. She was shouting, these men are servants of the Most High and have come to tell you how to be saved. Actually, this word she said could be translated, she shrieked. So here's Paul and Silas walking along through Philippi. She's behind him screaming out, they're servants of the Most High God. This woman's really getting on my nerves. And it's interesting because in the original language it says she had the spirit of python. And what that means is there was a myth that the python snake guarded the temple of Apollo. And so there was this weird demonic thing. And so Paul cast the demon out. Well now the people who were controlling this woman, effectively trafficking her, pimping her out, if you will, and making a lot of money off of her were outraged because this witchy woman was their source of income. …

And the scripture tells us she's possessed with a spirit of divination. She is controlled by a demonic spirit. and it's manifested that she is bringing a lot of money to the people who owned her by her telling the future.
