But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil. But solid food is for those who are full grown, who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. But solid food is for fullgrown men, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.

Into The Dark Realm – Part 5
Jack Hibbs, 2026-10-07

… I'm sure most often, by far most often, we're never aware. Hebrews 5, verse 14 on this point. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age. That is, by the way, who are these people of fool age? Those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Did you hear that? You want to grow up? Get involved. Get into the fight. You know what's going to happen? By exercise and use of spiritual truth and engagement in the spiritual battle, your faith will grow, your walk will grow, you'll be a mature Christian, and listen, you're going to be discerning about what's good and what's evil. And by the way, let's be honest. Evil and good show up dressed in good. Good is good. Evil looks good. Good is standing there and it's good. Evil shows up buying the same exact suit that good has on. How are you going to know? by exercising and by the use of you being a Bible-believing Christian engaged in this battle, you will, so to speak, sharpen your senses to what is demonic and what is of God. …

HOW TO OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD
Ed Young Jr., 2026-09-13

… faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called. Fight it. Not only do we fight it, we do something else. We identify evil. Hebrews chapter five, 14 says, solid food is for the mature who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. you've got to know your opponent. Did you watch the game last night? I'm talking about the game. Texas versus Ohio State. What if, okay, okay. What if when Texas hit the field, what if they were like, who are we playing? I mean, what if it was just the University of Texas and their opponent didn't show up and their entire schedule this year was just question marks? You would go, oh, that's ludicrous, Ed. Well, that's how ludicrous a lot of us are when it comes to fighting the good fight of faith. We've not identified the enemy. We've not identified greed and anger and lust and pride and gluttony. Fight the good fight. Identify the enemy. Expose the enemy. …

… solid food belongs to those who are of full age. That is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. That's a favorite verse for me for a lot of reasons. One is just because it's so strange. It so violates Western culture. It'd be a lot easier in an Eastern culture to adapt to this particular word. He says, he basically says this, your maturity as a believer is going to be measured by your ability to train your own senses to recognize the difference between good and evil. Your senses, sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, senses. look at it this way. Everything about you was perfectly designed to recognize and fellowship with God. Everything about you, every sense, every personality trait, everything in you that God put in you was designed so that you can recognize him and commune and fellowship with him. your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you I can still hear my mom's mom my grandma quoting this verse I think she was trying to help me she would quote this verse for me you know how can a young man cleanse his way and then she'd go into this one your word I've hidden my heart that I might not sin against you let's stop and look at that that concept for just a moment. Your word I've hid in my heart that I might not sin against you. Do you know what happens when you worry? You're actually planting a lie into your heart until the roots …

Subtle Until Suddenly - Sarah Jakes Roberts
Sarah Jakes Roberts, 2026-02-15

… How do we know who's of full age? Full age is those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and bad. When we exercise our senses, we can discern both good and bad. You want discernment? Look at your senses. Interrogate them. Am I seeing this right? Am I hearing this right? Or is my brokenness and my ambition blinding me from what this moment is? Paul has a fully embodied faith. This is what I am asking you to make your pursuit as a believer. to have a fully embodied faith that Jesus senses would become your sense. And we see this happen with Paul. We see his sight change. We see his hearing change. He heard Stephen preaching and martyred him. But then he heard the Macedonians calling for his anointing after his conversion. We saw his touch change. He went from dragging people out of their homes to dragging devils out of people's body. We saw his touch change. And when we find him in the text, Paul has been transformed. …

… Don't ignore them. Well, I love Hebrews chapter five, verse 14. Those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern between both good and evil. In other words, God and his spirit are gonna give you discernment. Everybody say discernment. You need to develop and grow in your discernment. Discerning between right and wrong, between good and evil. And by the way, you never stop discerning. I'm a parent of four children. I've got to discern where are they at, what's going on. I have my wife. I'm trying to discern how is she doing, what are her needs. I lead a community. What are the needs of my community? How can I help serve? I'm trying to discern in the aftermath of the fires. How can we help both best serve? What do we need financially? What do we need practically? You've got to develop in your discernment because when you're dating, you've got to discern. Is this right or is this wrong? Is this from God or is this from me? …
