Robert Jeffress, 2026-09-23

… of the Pharisees the Pharisees didn't rejoice when sinners come to God they hated it and you see that in the reaction of the older brother look at verse 25 now his older son was in the field and when he came and approached the house he heard music and dancing and he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be and he said to him your brother has come and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has received him back safe and sound but the older brother became angry and was not willing to go in verse 28 so the father leaves the celebration and he goes outside to talk to his older son and he begins to entreat him, to beg him. And when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with harlots, you killed the fattened calf for him. Now, I think if we're all honest for just a moment this morning, we're have to say we're somewhat sympathetic with the older son. Don't you feel …

Annie F. Downs, 2025-08-04

But I told you this isn't a story about the prodigal son. It's a story about what? Two sons. We got to talk about this other son. Verse 25. Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. So he called one of the servants. He didn't ask his father. He asked a servant. Called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. Your brother has come, he replied. And your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound. The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out. This is the second time we see the father chasing after the son, right? The father went out both times. The father went out and pleaded with him, but he answered his father, look, all these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed you, your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. …
