The High Cost of Unbelief
Skip Heitzig, 2026-09-20 · Scripture reading

… The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, to set at liberty those who are bound. And then he closed the book and he said, today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. In other words, I am the one that scripture is speaking about. They didn't like it. They got upset because he said that. They took him to the brow of the hill in Nazareth to throw him off. Now he comes back a year later. and it's like he wants to reach out one final time, this time with his disciples in tow. He comes back to Nazareth. A lot has happened in that last year. His fame has spread. He has made many disciples. The crowds are huge. Many people have been healed, but he has met in Nazareth with unbelief, Not doubt, unbelief. And you need to know there's a difference between doubt and unbelief. Doubt is not the absence of faith. …

Jack Hibbs, 2026-05-27

… were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. Why? It's his first coming. That was his first coming. And here's what's amazing. He stopped at that period that you have in your Bible right there. If he would have kept reading, his next line would have been, and to bring the vengeance of almighty God. He stopped. He didn't keep reading. Why? Because the vengeance of the almighty God is coming at the end of the seven year tribulation period. we've been rescued by a little period right there amazing there's more look at malachi chapter 3 verse 1 kind of the same thing behold i send my messenger and he will prepare the way before me and the lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple you've read that in the new testament haven't you even the messenger of the covenant and you now know what that is whom you delight behold he is coming says the lord of hosts you know what if i would have kept reading in malachi 3 verse 2 if i if i get through my notes you'll see that would have been a lot of trouble because verse 2 tells you that he will bring vengeance and judgment upon the nations he stops god's promises Matthew chapter 21. …

Chad Veach, 2026-05-03

… The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began by saying to them, today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. Isn't this Joseph, son? Jesus said to them, surely you will quote this proverb to me, physician, heal yourself, and you will tell me, do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum. All the people in the synagogue, walk in verse 28, put it on the screen. All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. And they got up and drove him out of the town and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built in order to throw him off the cliff. they said to Jesus, you're not welcome here, buddy. You're not, we, no, you, we don't believe in you, man. And they escorted him to the, to the, to the brink on the cliff. …

… from the book of Isaiah, and then he concluded it by saying, today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. There's that word again, fulfilled. Jesus taught that he was the fulfillment of the Hebrew Bible. Well, one time he even said this, if you believe Moses, you'd believe me, because he wrote about me. Moses, way back then, was writing about Jesus. John chapter 5 and verse 4. Do not think that I've come to do away with the law, he said in the Sermon on the Mount, or the prophets. I did not come to destroy, I came to fulfill. Christ is the fulfillment of prophecy after prophecy. Interesting, Locato, but what difference does that make? Impressive. But I've got a cranky boss. I've got too many deadlines I've got an achy neck I've got a challenging week what does all this have to do with me simple Jesus wants you to know that you can count on his voice that he has an explanation he has an authoritative opinion as to how to lead your life and to the degree that you and I listen to him, things move well. …
