… Judge not. And with the measure you use, it'll be measured back to you. I need you to say it one more time like you drank coffee this morning. Everybody say, judge not and you will not be judged. And with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Look at Luke chapter 6 verse 37. It says, judge not and you will not be judged. No, no, y'all don't have to just let, this is me now. It's me. Condemn not and you shall not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will it be put into your bosom. the last last verse for with the same measure that you use it'll be measured back to you this may shock you but the word money was nowhere in those verses but every time we hear Luke 6 38 it's at offering time give hey y'all about it sit can't toy out and it will be given back to you good measure press down Shaken together and run. …
… It says, judge not that you be not judged for with the judgment you judge, you will be judged. And with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Let me ask you a simple question. Was the word money mentioned anywhere in that scripture? Okay, I just I just want us to be very clear. So I want you to say this statement with me. Say judge not and you will not be judged. And with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. Turn to Luke 6 37 and I want us to say that one more time. Everybody say judge not and you will not be judged. Come on say it like you drink coffee this morning and with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. Look at the first sentence and the last sentence of Luke 37 and 38. It says, judge not and you will not be judged. No, you don't got to say it. …
… the offering of what he has given to us. in Luke chapter 6 verse 38 Jesus said the same give and it will be given to you good measure, press down that's amazing, put that in your head give and it will be given to you good measure abundantly, press down shaken together I used to have a boss when I would work for him during high school summers he would say I've got so much work going on. I've got so much work, it's like putting 10 pounds of work in a two-pound sack. You see that picture? 10 pounds of work in a two-pound sack. God says, you give to me, and this is what I'll do, because you're faithful at whatever it is. I'm going to see that you're responsible for more. And so God gives back. Jesus goes on to say, running overflowing into your bosom, for with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. Jesus is announcing, get involved, care, don't be an island. …
… with the same measure that you use it will be measured back to you now this may shock you but the word money is nowhere in that verse either yet every time we hear luke 6 38 it's that offering time give and it will be give it back to you good measure shake your nookie come on somebody shake and like that we do all of that I've done it before. Okay. But money was not mentioned in that verse. It's because I think God is trying to teach us a bigger principle that that giving is bigger than just giving finances. Giving is the cornerstone piece of the Christian life. And so what we do is we relegate it. Come let's think about it anytime we think about giving we think money like that's the first thought like we want to give like oh they want money again lord jesus but what happens is i believe the enemy has distorted or perverted this word giving just to think of money so that we automatically check out or we automatically say you know i don't got enough of that or you already know where it is and so we distance ourselves from a key of the kingdom that will allow us to reach purpose because we automatically think it's just talking about money. …
… the one who sows sparingly will reap sparingly here he's talking about giving if you're sparing in your generosity God will be sparing in his blessing here's how Jesus expressed it Luke 6 38 give and it'll be given to you good measure pressed down shaking together running over be put into your lap for with the measure you use it'll be measured back to you I love that verse. The first part, by the way, always made sense to me. Give and it'll be given to you. But this last part here, it always confused me. Like good measure, press down, shaking together, running over. I never knew what that meant. And I was always too embarrassed to ask. Always thought it sounded a little bit like a Jewish dance, you know, good measure, press down, running over. As far as I know, this was not a Jewish wedding dance. Jesus was using a farming analogy. In fact, it was supposed to be a little humorous. You see, if you were a harvester, and that was a common job in those days, the way that you got paid is the landowner would let you keep the final basket of grain that you collected every single day. …
… will be put into your lap. Luke 6.38 we need to get the context here to understand verse 38. In Luke chapter 6, Jesus has instructed his disciples on how they should treat others. And then he tells about how they will be treated by the Most High, who is your Father. So verse 37, look at the previous verse. Judge not others, and you will not be judged by your Father. Condemn not others, and you will not be condemned by your Father. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven by your Father. That's how the pattern works. Treat others on earth well with an explicit view toward the benefit that comes from heaven. Jesus' ethic here is plainly not the natural human ethic that says Treat others well and they will treat me well This is just natural human I treat somebody well, they treat me well No God in the picture at all Jesus is explicitly denying that As his ethic Verse 34 If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? …
… number three. I love this last one. It advances God's kingdom and it ushers in the overflow. It advances God's kingdom and it ushers in the overflow. Luke 6, 38. Give and it will be given to you a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. It will be poured into your lap. If you'd like a translation on that verse, you know what the Bible's telling you? you can't out give God. Give and it will be given back to you. How does it come back? Press down, checking together, running over into your lap. In other words, you give one way, it comes back every way. I give my tithe. Now I'm blessed with peace on my pillow. I got joy in my spirit. I got strength in my body. I've got, come on, I've got relationships. it just happens in every area of your life. And so not only does it transform me, but watch this, I get to advance God's kingdom. I get to partner with God's work in the earth. …

… refused to give and they were struck dead by the Holy Spirit. I remember Acts chapter 20 when Paul says to us, it is better to give than it is to receive. I've memorized Luke chapter 6 verse 38 that when you give it'll come back to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. I remember 2 Corinthians 9 that God loves a cheerful giver and who among us has not heard enough of Malachi chapter 3? Will a man rob God but yet you've robbed me in tithes and in offerings. One of the scriptures that is used to encourage and promote giving comes to us in the New Testament about this widow that Jesus sees in the temple as she gives. Her story is recorded in Luke chapter 21. But this morning, this evening, I want to read Mark chapter 12. If you will turn to the end of Mark chapter 12, I want to read in the New International Version about this widow and her giving. …
… I'll rebuke these things that have been devouring your income. Luke chapter 6, verse 38, Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosoms. For with the same measure that ye meet, it shall be measured to you again. Dear friend, you hold the key in your own hand. Oh, I wish I could tell you this. I wish I could get this in your heart. Dear friend, God wants to bless you. God wants to open the windows of heaven upon you. Here it is. Listen, recognize your failure. Restore your fellowship. Release your finances. Receive your fruitfulness.
