Sermons on Proverbs 3:12

for the LORD disciplines the one He loves, as does a father the son in whom he delights.for whom Yahweh loves, he corrects, even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights. For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. For whom Jehovah loveth he reproveth, Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

For All In The Family – Part 2
Jack Hibbs, 2026-10-04

… read the word of God together. We are in part two of our message titled, for all in the family, for all in the family. Proverbs 3, verses 11 to 18. Last week we started, well not last week, but the week before that, we started the first part of this. We're in the second part today. And so I'll read verse 11. If you pick it up in verse 12, nice and loud. So verse 11 begins, my son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor detest his correction. For whom the Lord loves and directs, just as the Father and the Son, whom He likes. Happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding. For her her shoes are buried in the pockets of silver, and remain in the final gold. Wow. She, notice she, her, wisdom. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Thank you Jesus, Lord. Verse 17. Her ways are ways of pleasantness. …

Success Without Succession Is Failure
Robert Jeffress, 2026-09-16

… says, my son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord or loathe his reproof, correction, for whom the Lord loves, he reproves even as a father, the son in whom he delights. The sign of God's love for you and me is that he disciplines us when we stray from him. The way we demonstrate love toward our children is we refuse to allow them to get away with rebellion against us or against God. One writer said it this way, the parent must convince himself that punishment is not something he does to the child. It is something he does for the child. The parent's attitude toward his disobedient youngster is this. I love you too much to allow you to behave like that. Number seven, successful parents are those who spend time with their children. Now I'll admit there's no proverb specifically that says that, but it's certainly inferred by everything else we've looked at. It takes time to communicate spiritual truth to your children, to lead them to faith in Christ, to understand, develop, and maximize your child's bent. …

… these words in Proverbs 3, 12, about the reproofs that God sends into our life. For whom the Lord loves, he reproves, even as a father, the son in whom he delights. It's because of God's love for you, but He brings correction into your life, even when that correction comes from the jerks in your life. I'm sensing that God's Spirit is stirring in the heart of someone right now who needs to wake up and receive unsolicited counsel from a friend. Maybe it's you. May God grant you the courage to respond to His gentle call. Well, it's the final week in July, and this is one of my very last days to offer the book I've written on this topic. It's called The Solomon Secrets, Ten Keys to Extraordinary Success. The book includes a chapter on the sensitive issue we address today. It's filled with time-tested wisdom from the Bible, all designed to accelerate and advance your healthy and prosperous life. Solomon teaches us how to experience financial freedom, how to cultivate healthy relationships at home, and how to connect with our children. …

… But as I journey through life, I learn that discipline is a form of God's love. Proverbs 3, verse 11 through 12 says, My child, don't reject the Lord's discipline. Don't be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. Now, I know I'm speaking to all of the perfectionist type A, people who are people-pleasing maybe. I get it. We get it mixed up, and we start to think that when we receive criticism, that it's linked to our identity, and we start to believe that we're a failure. When we get disciplined from the Lord, we want to hide. But in reality, God's discipline is a sign that you are his beloved. You're his child. This is where your identity is truly found. And I just want to encourage you, God is trustworthy. He is the alpha and omega. He is sovereign yesterday, today, and forever. He invites you today to trust him. …
