He who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself. He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul. But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.He that committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: He doeth it who would destroy his own soul.

… slaughter right now Proverbs 6.32 He who commits adultery lacks sense. He who does it destroys himself. You do not realize how dumb you are right now. you're walking to your death and convincing yourself it's good. Run, run. This is the gracious word of God to you today. Don't rationalize, run. Don't flirt with it, flee. Now, back here in Matthew 19, notice that Jesus does not say that when adultery occurs, divorce is certain or required. Instead, Jesus says divorce is possible in this situation. So you might think, it sounds like Jesus was lining up with that first school of thought among first century Jews, but the reality is they would have seen divorce as certain in cases of sexual immorality, adultery. But this is where we begin to see implications of the gospel for divorce in Scripture because Jesus is approaching the possibility of divorce in a redemptive manner with a totally different perspective than the Pharisees. They were searching for circumstances in which it would be possible for them to divorce. …
… victimless sin. Sin always destroys people around the sinner, but sin also destroys the sinner himself. Listen to what Solomon said in Proverbs 6 verse 32. The one who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense. He who would destroy himself does it. How is it that sexual immorality, especially adultery destroys a person, consider first of all the physical cost of sexual immorality. The physical cost. You know, there's some people, and in our culture, sometimes we portray the adulterer as the victor. But most of the time, he is the victim. Listen to Proverbs 7, verses 21 to 23. This is the anatomy of a seduction, how it happens. With her many persuasions, the adulteress entices him. With her flattering lips, she seduces him. Suddenly he follows her as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as one in fetters to the discipline of a fool, until an arrow pierces through his liver as a bird hastens to the snare, the trap, so he, the adulterer, does not know it will cost him his life. Sometimes that's literally. Sexual immorality sometimes costs a person his physical life. Do you know how to protect yourself against sexually transmitted disease? All this talk today about safe sex, you cannot safely sin against Almighty God without consequence. The Bible says the only way to truly engage in safe sex is to obey that boundary that God has put into effect, no sex outside the marriage relationship. …
… God has a way. God has a plan. Listen to Proverbs chapter 6 and verse 32. Turn to that and look at it. BUT WHOSO COMMITTETH ADULTERY WITH A WOMAN LACKETH UNDERSTANDING. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT SAYS? IT SAYS, MY DEAR FRIEND, THAT IMMORALITY IS STUPID. IF THAT HURTS YOUR FEELINGS, YOU COME UP TO ME AFTER THE SERVICE AND APOLOGIZE AND I'LL FORGIVE YOU. WHOSO COMMITTETH ADULTERY WITH A WOMAN LACKETH UNDERSTANDING. YOU JUST SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW. HE THAT DOETH IT DESTROYETH HIS OWN SOUL. A WOUND AND DISHONOR SHALL HE GET, and his reproach shall not be wiped away. Now the very first thing, my dear friend, is the instruction factor. You need to be instructed. You need to learn. And we need to teach in our churches today with no uncertain sound. We have social engineers today who put the Bible out of school. They put sex education and condoms and birth control and abortion without parental consent into school. We've taken the Ten Commandments down from the walls and put policemen in the halls. …
