“I Will Rejoice!” (Part 2 of 2)
Alistair Begg, 2026-10-10

… then you will be tremendously encouraged. Because it's there, remember, he says, if God be for us, who can be against us? See, he doesn't say, who can be against us? Because the answer to that is, well, a lot of people and a lot of stuff. But what he says is, get some perspective. If the sovereign Lord of the universe is for you, has redeemed you, then you know, Khrushchev banging his shoe, hey. Come on. Or your wife banging her shoe, or somebody banging her shoe. Hey. And then he says, who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? You see, what he means by that is not that people won't come and accuse us. The devil accuses us, our consciences accuse us, people accuse us. But at the cross, the case is closed. You can't file with any higher court than this. God has brought the judgment of eternity into time in the death of his Son, and all who are in Christ who have been justified and set apart. …

… And those he justified, he also glorified. What then, Paul says, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also along with him graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It's God who justifies. Who is he that condemns Christ Jesus who died? More than that, has raised the life and is at the right hand of God. Right now, he's interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it's written, for your sake we face death all day long. We're considered like sheep to be slaughtered. He says, no, in all these things we're more than conquerors through him who loved us. We're convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, nor the present nor the future, nor any powers, nor heights nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. …

… sitting here like yo I don't really understand how I need to be confident right now and all I have is a word from God. That's all you need. My Bible tells me in Romans 8 31, if God before us, who, who, who, who can be against me when God is for me? And I don't know if Gideon had that understanding yet. Um, but, but you're going to see how this story plays out that when God tells you, he's for you, take it to the bank. If, if he tells you that I'm going to do this, y'all, do y'all realize when I started at transformation church as the sound man, I was the sound man at this church. I was right back there in the sound booth. And when God called me to pastor this church, we had less than 400 people here and they were all black. Everybody except the pastor. And it was, it was one of those things. And God told me the pastor and Darren, Darren's here. …

PRIVATE PREPARATION | Chad Veach

… There's no way we can do this. two of them stood with a different report of faith. They said, if God is for us, who can be against us? Their names are Joshua and Caleb. Watch here on the screen. Put it up here. Numbers. Watch this. I love this verse right here. It says in Numbers 14, Joshua, son of Nun, and Caleb, son of who were among those Ana Wayala who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes, and they said to the entire Israelite army, the land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into the land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and he will give it to us. Ten said, no way. Ten said, impossible. 10 said absolutely not. Two said if God is for us, who can stop it? See, you've got to get to the place where impossible things become possible things through Jesus. That you look at what the doctor said in the natural, they can never be healed, but through the lens of faith in the supernatural, Jesus is a healer. …

You Can’t Stop Me
Michael Todd, 2026-08-29

… Oh, we're getting there. Go to Romans 8 31. Because if God's going to do something unprecedented in our life, he can't do it without us. And most of us want God to do a miracle besides us. He wants us to circumvent our will. And make us do what we don't want to participate in. And that's not going to happen, but I think if we get the right perspective, everything can change. Paul goes to talk to us after he talks about the grace of God and the goodness of God and how we received and were called and we're his own and we are loved. He goes through all of that. And then it starts right here at Romans 831. He says, what then shall we say in response to all these things? Now, I want to keep preaching, but I just came to let you know in the next 34 minutes, I'm going to preach the fool out of this scripture. like i'm like when i tell you that sometimes i teach and sometimes i'm very sophisticated and eloquent i'm about to act a fool on this scripture right here why are you saying that pastor mike because this has real meaning to me because paul is saying to all of us he said what should we say in response everybody say response to all these things see the power of this scripture i've never read it like this before but but god was showing me he said michael the power of this scripture …

Called To Be An Influencer – Part 3

… God's thoughts toward you, according to his word, is a precious thing, an encouraging thing. Romans chapter 8, verse 31, and you want to seize upon this for your life. You want to memorize this. What then shall we say to these things? Paul made this great list of the great things of life and adversity and challenges and blessings and difficulties and good moments of life. What then shall we say to these things? The word if there is in the English Bible, but in some of your margins of your notes, you'll see the Greek word. It's translated since. I like since. Watch this. Since God is for us. That's the reality. Since God is for us, who can be against us? everybody listen up God has called you and he's instructing you so that you might enjoy his good hand to be a blessing to others but in a world that is hostile toward you and I in the midst of all of these things if God is for us since God is for us who can be against us and the first time I ever read that I'll never forget it I read that as a young believer and this is how I read it what then shall we say to these things? …

Why This Storm? | Jentezen Franklin
Jentezen Franklin, 2026-08-03

… Then he said in verse 31, what shall we say to these things? And then he tells us what to say. If God be for us, who can be against us? And then he said in verse 37, yea, in all of these things, all of these storms, God's perfecting, he's working in all of these things. We're more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, whatever kind of storm comes, nor height, depth, any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. If that don't make you shout, I don't know what it's going to take. Shout, he's praying for me, and I'm going to keep the faith. Shout, he's coming for me. Nothing can separate me from the love of God. This trial, this storm can't separate me from the love of God. it reaches to the lowest valley. It reaches to the highest mountain. And lastly, if you're in a storm and you're a believer and you're doing your best to serve the Lord, he's praying for you. I can't hardly get past that. My best friend is praying for me. …

Worth the Wait

… I said, it's like how the Bible says, if God is for us, who can be against us? Yeah, she said, it's like that. If doesn't mean maybe, it means because God wills it. Period. End of story. But what about Don? The guy we visited and took our survey We thought it was the end of the story But just as we were walking down his front steps that evening A cool breeze blows and a car pulls up A woman steps out Carrying a Happy Meal from McDonald's Don's dinner, we learned later The woman's name was Kelly, Don's wife We explained to her what we were up to And she agreed to take our survey too Avery gave the survey this time. She did great. And when we told Kelly about our church down the street, she said, you're kidding. You're from that church? You know, just the other day, Don and I were talking about visiting that church. And here you are. I've been looking for Don and Kelly these last few Sundays at church.

… that. He gives us Romans eight chapter 30, uh, chapter, uh, chapter eight, verse 31. He says, what then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who, who can be against us? And then another passage or text that pastor gives us, um, is Romans chapter eight, verse 37. Um, in all of these things, we are more than conquerors through him who has loved us through Christ Jesus. And what I love about these passages is that really, take a screenshot. If you're watching online, take a screenshot of this right now. If you're in the room, take a picture of it. These are affirmations. When you wake up in the morning and think about how we serve a covenant-keeping God, you can read these passages and remember that we do have it like that. Period. All right. So this is what Pastor Garner pulled out of. It's interesting how you can listen to a sermon, right? And we kind of said, well, I think that's the thesis of the sermon. …

You Can Change The End

You might want to set your alarm to 8.31 a.m. tomorrow morning so you can remember this one when the alarm goes off. See what you think about this verse. What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us. Who can be against us? I don't know where you're at in this story. For when he could swear by no greater, he took an oath out on himself saying blessings I will bless you. multiply I will multiply you I bless you going in I bless you coming out every place your feet touch I'll give it to you then he said I will curse them that curse you I bless them that bless you because eyes have not seen y'all act like y'all don't know the Bible in here. Ears have not heard, neither has it entered the hearts of a man the good things that God has in store to them that love him. But it has been revealed to those of us that are filled with his spirit. So the Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Who shall be right? when the wicked even my enemies and my foes come upon me to eat up my flesh they stumble and throw a host encamps against me in this will i be confident for one thing have i desired the lord that will i seek after that i may behold the beautiful and of lord and inquiring still for in the time of trouble come on he shall hide me and there is no weapon I said there is no weapon, I'mma try one more time, there is no weapon that is formed against me that's going to prosper for the weapons of our warfare are not caught but mighty through God to the pulling down a stronghold. …

Speak Boldly – Part 2

He who did not spare his own son but gave him up for us all, will he not also along with him graciously give us all things? How about when that husband or wife leaves, or when the mom or dad is no longer in the house and God whispers to our hearts that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation that can ever separate you from my love. How about when we're afraid and we don't know what's coming in the future and God says in Isaiah 43, fear not, I have redeemed you. I have called you by name and you are mine. And when you pass through the waters, I will be with you. And when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. …

Proclaim His Glory

… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. St. Paul asks in Romans 8 verse 31, The power of God that is active in the gospel of Jesus Christ can take the stuff of your life and turn it into a great story and a real story. No spin here. Now, what good is a story if you can't tell it? My daughter Katie called me the other day on her cell phone. She was ecstatic because she had gotten a great sale price on some clothes. That's the way it is for all of us. Everyone has a story to tell. And that's the way it is with people whose lives have been turned around by God. It's like the apostles said, We cannot but help speaking about what we have seen and heard. Acts chapter 4 verse 20. But let me now make one more point using this word, turn. When you and I tell our faith stories, let's make sure that sooner or later we turn the focus away from ourselves and to Jesus Christ. …

He just said, I mean, all of Romans 8 to this point, 28, 29, 30, all things work together for good, foreknown, predestined, called, justified, glorified, golden, unbreakable chain. And Paul says, Romans 8, 31, what shall we say to these things? You might expect Paul to say, I've said it all. I've said it all. What more can be said? That's it. You can't top this. And then what does Paul do? He keeps talking. He keeps looking. He keeps seeing. He keeps enjoying. He keeps saying the glories. and then he goes on to write what might be the most glorious nine consecutive verses in the Bible and all that after he says what more can be said so brothers and sisters what's it to you the plans that Jesus has for your collegiate seminary peers what's that to you you follow Jesus. …

The Triumph of God's Love (Romans 8:31-39)
John MacArthur, 2024-03-08

… it comes to pass? What should we say to these things? And first Paul poses the question, can God reject us? Back to verse 31. It's assumed. If God is for us, who is against us? Can God find reason to take away our salvation? Well, certainly not based on verses 28 to 30, because whom He foreknew, He predestines, He calls, He justifies, and He glorifies. Look at that first part of the second half of verse 31. God is for us. The assumption here is that God is for us. There are some people in some forms of evangelicalism who think God is against us. But listen to what Scripture says, Psalm 27, 1 to 3, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life, whom shall I dread? When evildoers came upon Me to devour My flesh, My adversaries and My enemies, they stumbled and fell. Though a host encamp against Me, My heart will not fear, though war arise against Me. …

This is familiar, but I think a glimpse of it will be an encouragement to you. Romans 8, verse 31 says this, "'What then shall we say to these things, if God is for us, who is against us?' Paul has been talking about the gospel, and in the previous verse he said, "'If you were predestined by God, you were called to salvation, and if you were called, you were justified, And if you are justified, you will also be glorified. The elect will be glorified. Nobody gets lost, as Jesus said in John 6, all that the Father gives will come to me, and I'll lose none of them. So in response to that secure salvation, Paul poses the question, what shall we say to these things? Well, we say this, if God is for us, who is against us? There's no higher court. There's no one more powerful. There's no one more wise who could circumvent this. If God is for us, that settles our eternity. And because He didn't spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? …

More Than Conquerors, Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley
Howard-John Wesley, 2020-09-07

… That's Romans chapter 8. if God be for us, who can be against us? That's Romans chapter 8. And I am persuaded that in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us. You know where that is? That's Romans chapter 8. As a matter of fact, that's a good title for this series, more than conquerors. And for the next few weeks, I want to walk you through Romans chapter 8 in the hope that it will help your faith. It will strengthen your resolve to hold to God's unchanging hand. It'll help you make sense of what you see in the world. And it will remind you that no matter what comes our way, we are more than conquerors. Before we get into the series and begin walking through these verses, I would suggest to you, as I would with any passage of scripture, that if you would handle the Bible correctly, you must put what you read in context. The Bible taken out of context is one of the most dangerous writings in all the world. …
