Scripture reading: Genesis 37:3-8
3Now Israel loved Joseph more than his other sons, because Joseph had been born to him in his old age; so he made him a robe of many colors. 4When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him. 5Then Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more. 6He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: 7We were binding sheaves of grain in the field, and suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around and bowed down to mine.” 8“Do you intend to reign over us?” his brothers asked. “Will you actually rule us?” So they hated him even more because of his dream and his statements.

0:05 Genesis chapter 37, and I want to talk for a few moments about, look at your neighbor and say, don't sweat the player haters. Did y'all sing it? Don't sweat it. I want to read Genesis 37 verses 3 through 8. Genesis 37 verse 3 through 8. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children because he was the son of his old age. Also he made him a tunic of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him.

0:58 now Joseph had a dream and he told it to his brothers and they hated him even more so he said to them please hear this dream which I have dreamed there we were binding sheaves in the field then behold my sheaf arose and also stood upright and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf. And his brothers said to him, shall you indeed reign over us or shall you indeed have dominion over us? So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. I want to talk about being hated. It's important that you understand that at some point in your life, people are going to hate you. Somebody's going to hate you.

1:53 Somebody's going to not like you. And the story of Joseph is the story of a brother who's hated by his own brothers. His brothers hated him. As a matter of fact, the scripture teaches us that they hated him so much that they decided to kill him. That's a devastating thing to get to a place where you're willing to kill another human being.

2:18 And that's what they did. They planned, they schemed to take Joseph, dig a hole, put him in the hole so he couldn't get out and believed that he would die. But while they were there, another band of thieves came along and paid money to the brothers to sell Joseph to them into slavery. And they sold him into slavery and Joseph's journey begins. And it's a long journey. It's a long story. By the way, Joseph was hated and disliked by his brothers and sold into slavery when he was 17 years old. He was 17 years of age. Where are the young people at? Let me see the young people in this building. Where y'all at? You young. Okay, you think you young. Where you at? Okay, then never mind.

3:10 Let me get the people who are young. Stand up, 17, 18, 19, 15, 14, 13. Let me see what y'all look like. All right, I'm talking to you all, but I'm talking to everybody, but I especially want you to know because you're in formative stages of your life, and so many young people are shaped by and discouraged by what other people say about them. And I want you to be aware of the fact that you're going to be hated by people, but it goals with the territory of where God's going to take you. You can be seated. Yeah, his journey, he's hated. And as a matter of fact, 17 years of age, they sell him into slavery. He goes through a long journey. He gets sold into slavery. He ends up in the house of a general, an Egyptian general. And the wife of the general lies on him. He ends up in jail. It's a long journey. And in 22 years after he was sold into slavery, he becomes the number two man in the land. Y'all missed a great spot to say amen.

4:36 22 years. Somebody say 22 years. But during this one slither of his life, this one piece of his life. He's hated by people who should have loved him, should have celebrated him, should have loved him, but because he had a dream. Here's why they hated him. They hated him because he was his father's favorite child. And his father loved him because he was born to him when he was an old guy and he loved his mother. And so he was hated by his brothers. Why did they hate him? They hate because his father loved him. The first thing I want y'all to know right now, when you get hated, people are going to hate you. You know why? Because our father in heaven loves you.

5:23 Y'all missed a great spot, amen. Let me break that down for you. It's important for you to know and understand and to comprehend and to embrace the understanding that there's something special about you. You special. God loves you. Amen. And because he loves you, nobody can do anything against you to hurt you, to defeat you, to frustrate you because you are loved by God. That's an important thing because the enemy wants you to think that God doesn't love you. The enemy wants you to think you're not loved, you're not cared for. But my assignment is to drop this little nugget in your heart to tell you that God has a destiny for you. He has a future for you. He has a plan for you and he loves you. He loves you. somebody ought to thank God. We serve a God that loves us. Yeah, yeah, he loves you. Yeah, he cares about you. Joseph was loved by his fathers. It is a symbol to show us that we have a father that loves us. Our father, our heavenly father loves you. Your natural father might have abandoned you. Your natural father might not have owned you. Your natural biological father may have rejected you, but we have a spiritual father that regardless of what your natural father did, he loves you.

6:47 Look at your neighbor and say, he loves me. They hated him because his father loved him, but they also hated him because he had dreams. And they didn't like his dream. He dreamed that his sheave, his sheaf, and him tell you what a sheaf is, when you grow crop and you harvest a crop, you cut it all, gather it all together, and you put it in a bundle and you wrap a cord around that bundle, it becomes a sheaf. It's called a sheaf. That's what a sheaf is. And Joseph had a dream that his sheaves stood up. You know, when you normally wrap the sheaves, you lay it down. He has stood up and the other sheaves bowed down to him. And so they were sitting like, oh, so we're going to be serving you. So some of y'all don't understand the place that God's going to be taking you is going to be higher and greater than what some...

7:52 people thank you very much let me come over here and preach to you since you receive it I appreciate that wherever you is amen and see the reason people hate you listen to this the reason people hate you is because when they see where God is going to take you to they feel don't clap, wait, wait till I finish, they feel as though they're more qualified than you, more educated than you, more trained than you, and they think they ought to be where you are. Y'all aren't hearing what I'm saying today. But you know what I discovered? God elevates you not because you're more qualified, not because you're smarter, not because you're better looking. God elevated you because He has a special call and a special purpose and a special assignment on your life.

8:52 I wish I had a praying crowd with me here today for just a few moments. It's not because it's something about, you ain't the smartest. Listen, I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and my elevator does not always go to the top floor. sometimes I'm in the boat rowing but I ain't got no oars y'all ain't understand what I'm saying but God's got something special on my life I got here not because I'm the smartest not because I graduated magna cum laude or cum laude I graduated thank you lordy I don't there's something I just did get I just did get out of school and people I learned it since I became the pastor first Baptist Church of the Martin and the church started growing and and other people got jealous and mad and upset and mad and they talk about me and they make up stuff about me and they say stuff about me because they jealous Because they think they ought to have a big church like this.

10:01 They think they ought to have this or have that. But listen, I didn't have nothing to do with making this a big church. I just preached the gospel is all I did. I told people about Jesus. Come out and say, God calls this church to be what it is. He put an anointing on my life. He gifted and anointed me. I give God the praise. All the credit goes to Him. Amen. and people hate me because of it. And I'm trying to prepare you that where God is about to take you, people are going to hate on you.

10:37 I don't want you to get surprised. I don't want you to be shocked. I don't want you to be disappointed. It goes with the territory. Lean over, tell your neighbor, it goes with the territory. As a matter of fact, when you get hated by people, you are in good company. Amen. You know who else got hated? David was hated, got hated by his father, hated him. His wife hated him. The king hated him. His boss hated him. The men he led hated him. He got hated. Joseph was hated by his brothers. Jesus was hated, despised and rejected. Y'all not hear what I'm saying. Jesus got despised and rejected. So you are in a good club. You're in the hated club. Don't be upset about that. Don't cry. Don't be mad because they don't like you. Go ahead and thank God that… Wait, hold up. Being hated, God allowed hatred to come your way. It's an indication. It's a sign to tell you God got something special for your future.

11:43 I wish I had a praying crowd with me here right now. It's a sign. It's an indication. It's a gifting, it's a calling. I've had people, I used to have a good government job years ago. Before I started passing, I had a good job. And my boss took another job and my boss's boss told me if I could apply for the job, but I wasn't going to get it. So I didn't apply for the job. But one day she called me in her office, and she was sitting behind her desk like this, with her legs crossed, and her arms were. And she said, I called you in here to tell you that you've been selected for the job. I say it. Thank you very much.

12:46 I'm so honored that I got selected for the job. I appreciate it. I'm going to do the best that I can. I got up and went back to my office. Inside I said, You said I wasn't going to get it. You said I could apply, but I wouldn't get it. I didn't apply, but I still got it. Whoo!

13:12 How many of y'all know we serve a God that'll do and exceed exceedingly abundantly above what you ask or what you think? Not long after I became the pastor of this church,

13:36 one of the members of the church started hating on me. Hated on me, left the church, wrote letters, passed it out to the members of the church, called the deacons to try to get me fired, created a website, a whole website to try to mess and kill John Jenkins.

14:01 But I'm still here. and I'm still preaching the gospel. Still doing what I've been doing for 36 years here at First Baptist Church of Good Honor. Who am I talking to today? Somebody hating on you, somebody not liking you. It's okay. Lift up your heads, all ye gates, and be lifted up. The King of Glory is about to open some doors for you and work miracles for you. The fact that they hate you is a sign that God has something special for you. I feel a shout down in my sanctified soul. I feel like giving God the praise and giving Him the glory.

14:53 Amen. Yeah, the fact that you are being hated launches you into your destiny. When hatred starts coming, it launches you into your destiny. Write that down. hatred launches you into your destiny when i started getting hated by that person next thing i know god gave look here we are in the building that god gave us built for us amen god i got launched into my destiny hatred being hated is an indication that you have god's hands on you Amen. Did y'all get that? Okay, all right. I'm running out of time. My time is up. So here's what, matter of fact, people hate you because Satan hates you. And Satan hates you because you represent a threat to his kingdom.

15:52 When you get to your destiny, when you get to being and doing everything God's called you to be and do, you're going to reap havoc and destruction on the satanic kingdom, and he doesn't want you to get there. But I hear, I'm coming to tell you today, you're going to get there. You're going to make it. You're going to arrive, and you're going to reap havoc. Amen. Somebody say amen. You might be disliked. You might be dismayed. You might be disregarded. You might be disinherited. You might be disapproved. Some of y'all are going to be discharged. You're going to be dismissed. You're going to be disappointed. You're going to be disavowed. You're going to be discounted. You're going to be disadvantaged. But all it means is that God is about to discover you. He's going to keep you hidden. you ain't nobody then God's gonna pull the cover off of you Somebody go ahead and say, I'm about to be discovered.

17:02 I'm about to become what it is God called me to become. I'm about to get to the place that God is about to take me. Yeah, they tried to stop me. They tried to hurt me. They said I couldn't do it. They said I wouldn't get there. But look at what God has done. Can I get an amen right there? Somebody high five your neighbor, say, I'm headed somewhere.

17:27 Hit somebody on the other side, say, you might not like it, but I'm going somewhere. A charge I have to keep and a God to glorify. He's anointed me. He's called.
