Sermons on 1 Peter 3:7

Husbands, in the same way, treat your wives with consideration as a delicate vessel, and with honor as fellow heirs of the gracious gift of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered. You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman as to the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.Ye husbands, in like manner, dwell with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor unto the woman, as unto the weaker vessel, as being also joint-heirs of the grace of life; to the end that your prayers be not hindered.

Reasons Why God Doesn't Answer Prayers - Part 1
John K. Jenkins Sr., 2026-08-12

… marital strife 1 Peter 3 7 this is a verse that if I had the power to take it out of the Bible I would take it out but I don't have the power to do that it's almost a verse I wish God had not put in the Bible because he says husbands that's the first problem I had it's about husbands likewise dwell with them with understanding the dwell with them means your wife giving honor to the wife as to the weaker vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life that your prayers may not be hindered. Man, why would God go up and mess up a good Bible by putting a verse like that in there? But it's true. God says, I want you to understand that if you want me to answer your prayers, you have to have peace and understanding in your marriage. And for brothers, it's a tough thing to try to understand. brothers don't leave me hanging out here by myself But I learned. …

… honor your wife 1 Peter 3.7 says honor women and they are not perfect but that's the beauty of what Adam does in Genesis chapter 3 verse 20 right after this entrance of sin into the world which by the way began with woman leading the picture into sin sentence of death, basically, from God. He looks at his wife in verse 20 and the man called his wife's name Eve. What does Eve mean? Eve means life. And man resists the temptation to run from God and disparage woman for her failures. Instead, he believes God and he affirms the grace of God in her life. And he says, you're life. and then we honor your wife. Do not belittle your wife for her failures. Do not belittle women in different weaknesses. We all got weaknesses that look different among men and women, but don't belittle her in weaknesses. Honor her by the grace of God in her life. By the grace of Christ laid on your life to honor women and to train boys to be men. …

… This is what we do in Christ. Same thing in 1 Peter 3, verse 1-7. So here's the picture. You put it all together. It's clear. Man was created to be head in a way that woman was not. In a way that woman was created to be helper. In a way that man was not. Man with loving authority over woman. Woman with glad submission under man's authority. Now, as soon as that is established, we think, isn't that demeaning to women? Isn't that at the very least slightly offensive to women? and it's not and I know that as soon as I say that you say well of course not you're a man and I get that but this is where I want to show you this is good both in the likeness of God both with different roles and the words of Genesis 1.31 is very very very good on so many different levels this is expressed so clearly in God and the beauty and the wonder and the community even we see in the Trinity between the Father and the Son. …

… what about kids kids know your dog and your kids know 1 Peter chapter 3 verse 7 1 Peter 3 7 men I need you to be praying for me right now because so far all of this has been on you guys and I'm running out of time I'm sure women are just can't wait to get to their part here 1 Peter 3 7 says husbands likewise dwell with your wives or with them with understanding giving honor to the wife as to the weaker vessel doesn't mean she's like something's lacking in her. Weaker means God has made her more tender, more perceptive, more of the things that we lack, he put in her. For example, we see things like that, and well, I ought to go over there, and the wife will say, now don't do that, you need to do this instead. We don't do well without our wives. We have to remember that. and GPS doesn't do well without my wife either. I noticed that too. Lisa and GPS, it's great. …

Fight for Your Family - Part 1
John K. Jenkins Sr., 2025-03-10

… verse 7 1 Peter 3 7 it says husbands likewise dwell with them with understanding this is this is the scripture talking to husbands about their spouses and it says dwell with them with understanding now for a man to get along with a woman is a tough understanding her can be a tough challenge. I heard a few deep amens there, just a few. It can be tough. It can be a challenge. Because my wife, women think emotionally. Men think logically. Amen. Amen. Do I have any men with any guts to say amen? And the scripture says, make an effort to understand them. I know it's difficult at times. Yesterday I was doing something, solving the problems of the world. And my wife calls for me to come and help her with something. And I said to myself, don't she know I'm solving the problems of the world right now? and I holler back I'll be right down when I finish solving the problems of the world She wanted me to come downstairs. …

Marriage Is from Heaven

… And both the male and the female, therefore, are heirs of the grace of life. 1 Peter chapter 3 and verse 7. husbands and wives are to dwell together as heirs of the grace of life. So we are joint heirs with the Lord Jesus Christ. Both a man and a woman are equal in their standing before God if they've been saved. Put this verse down, Galatians chapter 3 and verse 28. There is neither Jew nor Greek. There is neither bond nor free. There is neither male nor female, for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. So when our Lord looks at us, he's no respecter of persons. He doesn't say, well, you're of this race or you're that race. You're of this socioeconomic status and you're of that socioeconomic status. You're a male or you're a female and I'm going to divide between you on that basis. He says, oh no, oh no, not in Christ. Friend, in Christ we're all one. Say amen. Every race, every socioeconomic background, each gender, male or female, we are all one in the Lord Jesus Christ. …

Harmony in the Home

… side and had a fight. Well, I'm getting in too deep here. But anyway the Bible says in 1 Peter chapter 3 verse 7 that the woman is the weaker vessel. Why? Because of what God made man to do which was what? Tend the garden. Man has to be able to dig and to chop and to carry and to protect and to provide. What did God make the woman to do? She's the mother of all living. She's to be gentle. She's to be tender. She is to nurture and to take care of. Now the men tend to approach problems head first. Women approach problems heart first. That's just the way they are. A woman, her emotions come more to the surface. When you get into the male and female battle, the battle of the sexes, it's generally, not always, but logic versus emotion. And when I say this, some women get angry and they think, well he doesn't think I know what's going on. Well you do. But the thing that always astounds me is that women know what's going on without knowing what's going on. …

… And he, as a matter of fact, Peter says to all of us, you husbands dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife as unto the weaker vessel. as being heirs together, the grace of life. Your wife is a part of your ministry. Joyce is a part of my ministry. And you're also to give leadership to your children. Notice it says, having faithful children. I make no apology for putting my family before this church, putting my wife before this church. You can always get another pastor. I've got one wife. I'm going to keep her all my life. and yeah, if you go and clap, clap. Now, I don't say that arrogantly, but my chief responsibility and your chief responsibility as a bishop is to the family, to the home. Your home will preach as much as any message that you'll ever preach behind a pulpit or on the ball field or any place else. And so, like Noah who got his children into the ark, we'd get our children into the ark. …
