The Priorities of Christ
Skip Heitzig, 2026-05-17

… the angel said to the shepherds outside of Nazareth unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior who is Christ the Lord not a motivational speaker not a good example a Savior, one who saves people from sins. The seven statements of Jesus on the cross. You remember when Jesus was put on the cross for those several hours? He said, made seven statements. And what was the very first statement Jesus made on the cross? I know you know it. Father, forgive them. You know why he said that first? Because that's the most important thing to say. forgiveness is God's greatest gift because forgiveness is man's greatest need it all it all comes down the irreducible minimum can be boiled down to is are you forgiven I had a friend he used to preach here he was an old man then he's been in heaven for years his name was Roy Gustafson he was a buddy of Billy Graham's and he said skip when I die I want one word on my tombstone. Forgiven. …

… not just some, but for all people. For unto you this day in the city of David is born a savior who is Christ the Lord. Savior was a term that was used both of God and of kings and warriors. It meant deliverer, rescuer. And the emperor took on that title himself. He was the savior of the world, he thought, when the Romans said. And then there's the title Christ. Christ is the Greek version of the Hebrew Messiah, which means anointed one, one in a sort of shorthand usually for king. It could mean prophet too, but generally for king. And then there is Lord. And Lord is master, sovereign, ruler, the highest authority in a given realm. The emperor was Lord of the earth. King Herod the Great was Lord of his little kingdom in Judea. But Jesus was the Lord, the Lord of the cosmos. So those three titles are pointing to the fact that this baby who was born wasn't just an ordinary baby, and he is for us, those who believe in him, our Savior, our Messiah, and our Lord. Now, this humble birth for him is so remarkable, and it then sets the pace for everything else he does. So when he begins his ministry, his ministry is with the down and out, the outcast, the lowly, the broken, the mentally ill, the demon-possessed, the people who were, you know, who were considered outsiders to the church. They were called the Amha Arets of that time, that meant the people of the land, the kind of yokels and the people …

… All the people. For unto you this day in the city of David is born a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign to you, he says. you'll find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. In a manger? Our Savior, the Christ, the Lord? By the way, those three titles are really important. Savior is a term that's used of God and also of other earthly kings and warriors. It means deliverer, rescuer. The Emperor Augustus, who ordered the census, he took on the title of Savior of the world. And Christ is a word, it's not Jesus' last name. It means in Hebrew, Messiah is the, Mashiach is the Hebrew, means anointed one. It typically was shorthand for king. So he is the savior, he is the king. And then he's the Lord. And the Lord is the highest authority in a given realm. So Emperor Augustus was the Lord of the world, he said. Well, he was really Lord of the Roman Empire. …

… This is going to be good news of great joy today. In the town of David, a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord. There's our word. A Savior has been born to you. The 12 words of Christmas. A Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you, the angel continued. You'll find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly, a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, glory to God in the highest. And on earth, peace to men on whom his favor rests. this most significant person on earth, the angel said, is a savior. That word, obviously, is the word that leads to salvation. That's the same root word. But it also has another meaning, and the meaning is deliverer. I'm coming to set people free, to set the captive free, to set those in all kind of bondage free, to set everybody with chains holding them back free. …

THE STAR
Ed Young Jr., 2025-12-24

… a star will come out of Israel, Jacob. That announces, Luke chapter two, verses 10 and 11, I bring you good news that will cause great joy. People sometimes ask me, what's the Bible about? Very, very simple. Bad news, worse news, good news, great news. That's the Bible. bad news it says that we have a problem sin i have a problem so do you worst news is because of my sin god's holy i'm not he's perfect i'm imperfect there's a cosmic chasm between myself and god well the bible doesn't stop there good news what's the good news what i'm talking about now the redemption the fact that jesus did what he did on the cross rose again just for you and me and the great news is we can make that choice. I cannot force you or coerce you to make this decision. It's up to you. Go back to our magi. The star was in the sky. They either received it or not. So remember, a star is a sign that announces what? Redemption. What's redemption? The price has been paid for our sins. Romans 3, 24, all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Redemption, redemption. Christ's redemptive work was sufficient for all of mankind, but it only can be applied to those of us who bow the knee and receive Christ. …

Humble Beginnings | Chad Veach
Chad Veach, 2025-12-24 · Scripture reading

… I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you. Look at the person next to you and tell him, to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you. You will find a baby wrapped in cloths, lying in a manger. Right down the title of today's message, it's called Humble Beginnings. You'll find this Savior. You'll find this baby. He'll be wrapped in clothes. He will be lying in a manger. I like that after the first song today, Josh got up and read a beautiful verse. It was so beautiful. I'm telling you that because only seven of you heard that verse. Shots fired. But he got up and he talked about how this is the great news to us that Jesus was not born in the four seasons. He wasn't born in a five-star hotel. He wasn't born in a palace. We find our Savior wrapped in clothes, lying in a manger. …

This Must Be The Place
Levi Lusko, 2025-12-22 · Scripture reading

… It's for you. There's born to you this day in the city of David. What? A savior. A savior who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you. You will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill toward men. So it was when the angels had gone away from them into heaven that the shepherds said to one another, let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us. Can you believe we got to hear about this? and they came, underline this next adjective, with haste. How'd they come? They came with haste. This is exciting. This is worth running for. And they found Mary and Joseph and the babe lying in a manger. Now, when they had seen him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this child. …

… for all people. Today in the city of David, a savior has been born to you. The doors have been thrown wide open and everybody is invited. So at Christmas, we celebrate the arrival of that way, the way, the truth, and the life. We celebrate the way in a manger. If you weren't with us last time, we're in part two of this series entitled The Way in a Manger, where we're talking about this extraordinary thing that Jesus said and this extraordinary thing that Jesus demonstrated throughout his ministry. Now, understandably, when Jesus made this statement, I'm the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father through me, the guy's in the room, because this is the very night he's arrested, so there's a lot going on. There's a lot of emotion. Judas slips out. They don't know where he's going. I mean, a lot's about to happen. They didn't understand this the way he meant it. I mean, in fact, if you read the passage, they ask so many questions. …

… That's what the angel said when they showed up on day one. They said, today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you. He is the Messiah, the Lord. If you're a teacup under a bowling ball, that's what you want the angel to say. Now, today in the city of David, the greatest moral teacher alive has showed up. Not going to help you if you're dead. We see in the Old Testament, in Isaiah 43, the prophecy, Before me no God was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the Lord. And apart from me there is no, can you say it? Savior. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed. and I am not some foreign God among you. You are my witnesses, declares the Lord, that I am God. I love it. When you go to Titus 3, at one time we too were foolish. This is like the language that Paul was using to Timothy. Disobedient, deceived, and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. …

One Day Closer To A Miracle | Jentezen Franklin
Jentezen Franklin, 2024-12-16 · Scripture reading

… Joseph went up from Galilee to the city of Nazareth, which is basically 70 miles, by the way, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, from Nazareth to Bethlehem, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. That's a powerful verse that she had to go through all the days to get to the day. Deliverance day, birthing day, miracle day. The days had to be completed, nine months, 274 days. We only hear about the last day, the Christmas day, but all the days she had to walk through. And she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the end. Now there were in the same country shepherds out in the fields keeping watch over the flock by night. And the angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. …
