… that are happening at the Sea of Galilee. One is in Matthew chapter eight. Both of them are pointing to the same thing. And all three gospels are pointing to the same thing. These stories are not simply telling us about a storm that happened a long time ago. with Jesus in the boat, the story's about us. Like when we read it, we're meant to remember that what Jesus did a long time ago for the disciples is what he still does in our lives today. And so the first point to be made in this message is that storms happen. There are storms that happen at life. Now, the storms that happen in life, sometimes they're just normal storms, like we see in this story. We've had a lot of big storms here in Kansas City recently, so that there was microbursts and there was some severe damage, maybe tornadoes in Wyandotte County recently, and damage still being cleaned up and terrible hailstorms and thunder and lightning. It's been pretty dramatic this summer, the storms we've had. …

… Peter said to him in reply, Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water. He said, Come. Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how strong the wind was, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me. Immediately, Jesus stretched out his hand and caught Peter and said to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt? After they got into the boat, the wind died down. Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, Truly, you are the Son of God. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for having a seat. So Joshua Slocum was 51 years old when he left Boston Harbor in 1895. At 51 years old, he got on a 27, 37 foot oyster boat. And he began to sail around the world completely by himself. took him three years three years and two months 1895 left boston and traveled over the pacific ocean the the the indian ocean the the atlantic ocean and he did all of this first the first person ever to do this alone to sail around the world solo joshua slocum came back to boston in massachusetts in 1898 and he had so many incredible teachings things to say insights of of what it takes to sail around the world by yourself. He has a lot of insights when it comes to fear. …

If You Don't Believe Me
Jamal Bryant, 2025-10-19 · Scripture reading

… Lord if it's you Peter replied tell me to come to you on the water you may be seated When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. Peter, of all the disciples, was the only one who asked, if it's you, let me come to where you are. I want to preach for a little while today using as a subject, if you don't believe me, just watch. If you elbow your neighbor, tell them if you don't believe me, just watch. Look at the person behind you. Look at the person behind you. Tell them if you don't believe me, just watch. Writer C.S. Lewis once said, without risk, faith is an impossibility. Somebody needs to write that down. Without risk, faith is an impossibility. Very few people would understand that better than the late Madam C.J. Walker. He was born into slavery in 1867, orphaned at seven, married at 14, widowed by 20. She worked as a washerwoman earning a meager $1.50 a day. …

Sinking In The Storm
Steven Furtick, 2025-08-25

… So I'm excited about Jesus. I want to preach about Jesus today from Matthew chapter 14, verses 22 through 35. First Bible story that I ever preached for our last sermon in the series, That's What I Thought. Tell your neighbor, that's what I thought. I say this is the last one. I think it's the last one. If the Lord wants me to keep going, I will. but my plan is today to take some of the things we've been preaching about and minister them to your heart. Welcome to all of our locations. Put it in the comment on YouTube. That's what I thought. This is our final installment. Yeah, this is the first Bible story I ever preached, so I always try to preach it at least once a year just to check in and see how dumb I was the last time I preached it or what new thing God will show me. Glad you're here today. Welcome. Welcome to the presence of God. Welcome to a new beginning. Welcome to a space where grace reigns supreme and where Jesus is Lord and King. Welcome to a place where you can hear his word. …

… bid me to come to you on the water bid me to come to you on the water bid me to come to you on the water bid me to come to you so what people who walk on water aren't people who are trying to walk on water. People who walk on water are people who are trying to get to Jesus. did you hear what I just said he didn't say help me walk on water he said help me come to you and if you will prioritize coming to him then Jesus will enable you to walk on what other people drown in And this is the difference between vain ambition and godly ambition. One wants to walk on water. The other wants to get to Jesus. I just want to give to Jesus. He says, bid me to come, bid me to come to you on the water. Bid me to come to you on the water. Bid me to come to you on the water. …
