Matthew 10

1And calling His twelve disciples to Him, Jesus gave them authority over unclean spirits, so that they could drive them out and heal every disease and sickness. He called to himself his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness. And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. And he called unto him his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of disease and all manner of sickness. 2These are the names of the twelve apostles: first Simon, called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Now the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; Andrew, his brother; James the son of Zebedee; John, his brother; Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;Philip; Bartholomew; Thomas; Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus; Lebbaeus, who was also called Thaddaeus;Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus;Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphæus, and Thaddæus; 4Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus.Simon the Zealot; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.Simon the Cananæan, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. 5These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go onto the road of the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.Jesus sent these twelve out and commanded them, saying, “Don’t go among the Gentiles, and don’t enter into any city of the Samaritans. These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:These twelve Jesus sent forth, and charged them, saying, Go not into any way of the Gentiles, and enter not into any city of the Samaritans: 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’As you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!’And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons. Freely you received, so freely give.Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons: freely ye received, freely give. 9Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts.Don’t take any gold, silver, or brass in your money belts.Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,Get you no gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses; 10Take no bag for the road, or second tunic, or sandals, or staff; for the worker is worthy of his provisions.Take no bag for your journey, neither two coats, nor sandals, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.no wallet for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food. 11Whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy there and stay at his house until you move on.Into whatever city or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you go on.And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And into whatsoever city or village ye shall enter, search out who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go forth. 12As you enter the home, greet its occupants. As you enter into the household, greet it.And when ye come into an house, salute it.And as ye enter into the house, salute it. 13If the home is worthy, let your peace rest on it, but if it is not, let your peace return to you.If the household is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it isn’t worthy, let your peace return to you.And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14And if anyone will not welcome you or heed your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.Whoever doesn’t receive you or hear your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye go forth out of that house or that city, shake off the dust of your feet. 15Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town. Most certainly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city. 16Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.“Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. 17But beware of men, for they will hand you over to their councils and flog you in their synagogues. But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you.But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you; 18On My account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.Yes, and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations. And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19But when they hand you over, do not worry about how to respond or what to say. In that hour you will be given what to say.But when they deliver you up, don’t be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given you in that hour what you will say.But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. 20For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you. 21Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rise against their parents and have them put to death.“Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. 22You will be hated by everyone because of My name, but the one who perseveres to the end will be saved. You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved. 23When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next. Truly I tell you, you will not reach all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next, for most certainly I tell you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man has come. But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. 24A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his lord. 25It is enough for a disciple to be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household! It is enough for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant like his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household! It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household! 26So do not be afraid of them. For there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known. Therefore don’t be afraid of them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops. What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim on the housetops. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. What I tell you in the darkness, speak ye in the light; and what ye hear in the ear, proclaim upon the house-tops. 28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.“Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father: 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in heaven.Everyone therefore who confesses me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven.Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven. 33But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven. But whoever denies me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven. 34Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.“Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword.Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law: 36A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’A man’s foes will be those of his own household. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.and a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me;He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me.He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me isn’t worthy of me.And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.And he that doth not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me. 39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.He who seeks his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. 40He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives the One who sent Me.“He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 41Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. He who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward: and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. 42And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.”Whoever gives one of these little ones just a cup of cold water to drink in the name of a disciple, most certainly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.”And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you he shall in no wise lose his reward.
