Sermons on Matthew 18:6

But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea.But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.but whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.

You will never Get through the door Whoever becomes Humble Like this child Is the greatest in the kingdom Of heaven Whoever welcomes one such child In my name welcomes me another translation verse 6 if any of y'all cause one of these little children to stumble, to be harmed, to sin. Jentezen Franklin, 2025-08-04 · Scripture reading

And it's so interesting to me that this text is attached to how we treat children. In a time when children are being abused, in a time when children are being molested, in a time when pornography is flooding and we're seeing a pandemic of child abuse and molestation, he says it would be better for you to cut off your hand and it be cast from you. and better for you to enter into life lame and maimed rather than having two hands and two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you, it is better for you to enter into life with one eye rather than having two eyes to be cast into hellfire. Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones. You harm, you mislead, you take heed. For I say to you that in heaven there are angels always. They have an assigned angel and they are recording and they see the face of my Father who is in heaven. …

Ans. 4. The different circumstances of our nature now, from what will he hereafter make that a virtue now which will be no virtue then. For instance, if a man be of a virtuous disposition, the circumstances of our nature now are such, that it will necessarily show itself by natural affection, and to be without natural affection is a very vicious disposition; and is so mentioned in Rom. i. 31. But natural affection is no virtue in the saints in glory. Their virtue will exercise itself in a higher manner. Ans. 5. The vengeance inflicted on many of the wicked will be a manifestation of God’s love to the saints. One way whereby God shows his love to the saints, is by destroying their enemies. God hath said, “He that toucheth you, toucheth the apple of mine eye.’’ And it is often mentioned in Scripture, as an instance of the great love of God to his people, that his wrath is so awakened, when they are wronged and injured. Thus Christ hath promised that God will avenge his own elect, Luke xviii. 7. and hath said, that “if any man offend one of his little ones, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” Matt. xviii. 6. …
