… have spoken about him. Now in verse 17, we see the victory of the king over his enemies. Again, Jesus prophesied about this in Matthew 24, 30, and then the sign of the son of man will appear in the sky. And then all the tribes of the earth will mourn and they will see the son of man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and with great glory. This brings about, there are three aspects of this victory of the king. First of all, it's referred to as the supper of God. Now listen to me. In the book of Revelation chapter 19, there are actually two suppers that are described. The first supper we've already talked about, the wedding supper of the lamb. And John said, blessed, happy are those who get an invitation to that supper. But this is a different supper here. It's called the supper of God. And that is an invitation you never want to receive in the mail. the first invitation the invitation to the wedding supper of the lamb is an invitation that is to be coveted this second invitation an invitation to the supper of god is an invitation to be dreaded the first invitation the lamb of god's supper is a invitation to come and eat the second invitation to the supper of God is an invitation to come and be eaten. You'll see what I mean here. This is a supper of judgment. Verses 17 and 18. Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, …
… the stars will fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens will be shaken then the sign of the son of man will appear in heaven and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn and when they see the son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory this is the second coming it's also called the great and terrible day of God and he will send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet. This has nothing to do with the rapture. Don't worry about it. Watch this. And they will gather together his elect from the four winds or the four corners of the earth from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn this parable from the fig tree. When its branches has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near at the doors. Church family, watch this. …
… its light, the stars will fall from heaven, the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and the tribes of the earth will mourn. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. In chapter 25, one of the verses, Jesus says, then he will say to those on the left hand, depart from me, you cursed, into, listen, into annihilationism, into being wiped out, and it's as though you didn't exist ever before. Into heaven because we're all going to be saved eventually in the end, no matter what you believe. No, he will say, depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. And final verse of that chapter, and these will go way into everlasting punishment. the word for everlasting is ionios it means ongoing perpetual never ceasing never ending these will go away into everlasting punishment now listen carefully but the righteous into eternal life. The word eternal is the word ionios. It's the same exact word for unbelievers being an eternal punishment. Those of us who believe will have eternal life. …
… sky, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds from one end of the sky to the other. But notice the phenomenon. The sun is darkened, the moon doesn't give its light, the stars fall, and the powers of the heaven are shaken. This is exactly what we find in the book of Revelation, chapter 6. Six frightening features are laid out here, so let's look at them a little more closely. The first one is, there was a great earthquake, and there's not much more to say except that there was a great earthquake. Great is an understatement, to put it mildly, because this is an earthquake where the entire earth is shaken. …

So during that period of time, there will be a false peace, followed by war, followed by famine, followed by catastrophe, followed by persecution, followed by the return of Christ. And again, the sequence is the same in Matthew as it is in Revelation. Now with that, go back to our text, if you remember what it was, Revelation 6, 1. So the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and one of the four living creatures, one of the angels around the throne of God says, this is in the vision, as with the voice of thunder, come, and He calls. And in this vision John looks, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow, and a crown was given to him. …

As soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But concerning that day and hour, no one knows, not even the angels of heaven nor the Son, but the Father only. …
