… And if you're in here, I want you to go back and study. But in Matthew 25, verse 14 through 30, this whole story was about three different people who who the grace of God gave one of them five, one of them, two and one of them, one. And he didn't matter. It didn't matter about the amounts. He just wanted them to do something with what they had been given. So in this series, this whole thing about us being the blessed people that God wants us to be. I really started to look at this scripture because verse 29 really struck me. And I want to go there real quick as we end last week's service today. And I'm going to start a new message today, too. But I want you to see this real quick. Matthew 25, verse 29. It says, those who use well. Everybody say use well. Those who use well what they are given Even more will be given And I said man god what if we could have nobody have an excuse? …
… That's the first thing. Well done, good and faithful servant. That's the first reward. He says, you've been faithful with a few things. I will now put you in charge of many things. That's the second reward. Come and share your master's happiness. That's the third reward. If you want to write this down, it's three words. Affirmation, promotion, celebration. Affirmation, promotion, celebration. First he says, the first reward is affirmation. God says to you, well done, good and faithful servant. Good job. That's my boy. That's my girl. You passed the test. I was testing you to see what you would do. Could you be trusted with what I gave you? And you passed the test. Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of more. That's the second, promotion. First affirmation, good job. Promotion, greater responsibility. Did you know that what you do in heaven, your job, your responsibilities, your roles, rewards are gonna be determined by how you use what you were given here? …
… This is the words of Christ. Well done, good and faithful servant. You've been faithful with a few things. I will now put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness. Now if you're taking notes, I want you to circle the phrase, put you in charge. Would you circle that? I'm gonna talk to you about that for just a minute. It says that when you get to heaven, God is gonna put you in charge of something, but it's gonna be based on how well you managed what you were given here on earth. he says if you're faithful in the little that I gave you on earth I'm going to give you a whole lot more to be in charge of in heaven if you were faithful with the little bit of talent I gave you here on earth I'm going to give you more talent in heaven if you were faithful with the little bit of possessions here on earth I'm going to give you more in heaven if you were faithful with the little bit of influence on earth I'm going to give you more in heaven if you were faithful with the little bit of your time here on earth I'm going to give you more in heaven If you were, whatever you are a good manager of here on earth, you're going to get more of in heaven. …
Master, he said, you trusted me with five bags of gold. See, I gave five more. Verse 21, it says, his master replied, well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness. Verse 22, I'm reading slow because I need y'all to get every single word. The man with two bags of gold also came. Master, he said, you entrusted me with two bags of gold, See, and I have gained two more. His master replied, well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness. Then the man who had received one bag of gold, So, master, he said, I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seeds. So, I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. …
… listen in and hear what the Savior can teach us about the shape of ambition in his kingdom. Matthew chapter 25, verses 14 through 30. Jesus said, For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. Now, after a long time, the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, Master, you delivered to me five talents. Here I have made five talents more. His master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant. …
… he is delighted and he says to them, well done. well done good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. You did exactly what I asked you to do. You've been faithful with a few things. I'm gonna put you in charge of many things to which they must have thought, well, I don't feel like this amount of money you gave us was a few things. He's like, oh, we're just getting started. Now that I know that you know what to do with my money and how to invest my money, hey, we're just getting started. And come, he says, come and share in my happiness. Come and share in your master's happiness. This is a win-win. it's a win for me and it's a win for you. And then the third servant who had been given the least amount to invest, which means he had the least amount to lose, he comes in to give his not so stellar report. And do you know what he brings with him to give his report? He brings an excuse. Now, it's important to know that in every parable that Jesus taught, there was someone in the parable that represented God. And then there was someone in the parable that represented Jesus audience. In our case, the people in the audience is us. And the God figure, as you probably would guess, is the rich man. And the people in the audience, which is us, are the servants. …
… in which they, in which we will hear Jesus say, well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little. I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master. You see, we're part of God's eternal plan and purpose. And since he will prevail, that means we will prevail. We were known before creation. We'll be alive after this creation, this version of creation. Those are just two of the nuggets we find as we quarry the story of the life of Christ. His story is your story. you know your story. So many people don't. A week ago yesterday, I asked an Uber driver, what do you think happens when we die? And he looked up at me through the rearview mirror. I could see his eyes. And he said, well, I've not given it much thought. Do you think that's interesting? Here's a guy who makes a living helping people get to their destination, but he has not given thought to his own. …
… This is the parable of the talents. And it says in Matthew 25, 21, well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. In other words, because your character has counted and you've displayed good character, I can trust you not just with small things. I can trust you with many things. And I'm praying over you that you don't just get trusted by people. Come on, even better, let's be trusted by God. The question today is not if God loves you. The question today is if God can trust you. Can God trust you with more money? Can God trust you with more influence? Can God trust you with people? Can God trust you with hearts? What can God trust? See, again, God's using what you're doing right now to develop where you're going in the future. And the way that you live, the character that you display today tells a signal to God whether you could be trusted with more or not. …
