… he turns to the 11 that are left and he says this, oh yeah, by the way, this very night, you will all fall away on account of me. To kind of tease this out with the original language, basically he says, you're gonna trip and fall over me and fall away from me. In other words, you're gonna leave me because you trip over me. I'm gonna be the reason you leave me. You're gonna trip and fall away on account of me. And Peter immediately speaks up and he says, even if the rest of these losers, this is the implication, even if the rest of these losers fall away from you, even if all fall away on account of you, I never will. Peter answered and said to him, Even if all were made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble. I'm different. I am special. Jesus said to him, Assuredly, I say unto you this night, Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times. Peter said to him, Even if I have to die for you, I will. He's arguing with him. Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you. And so said the other disciples. And they come, they go to the garden, they leave that upper room, They go to the garden. They fall asleep. …
