… He is not here. He has risen just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples. Tell him what? That he has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. So the woman hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy and they ran to tell his disciples and suddenly Jesus met them. Hey, he said, they came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. And then Jesus said to them, do not be afraid, go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see me. But then look what happened. While the woman were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priest, everything that had happened. When the chief priest had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money telling them, you are to say his disciples came during the night and stole them away while we were asleep. If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble. So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. …
… Because he's the way. And then in Matthew chapter 20, verse 28, look at this. The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many. The word ransom, we don't see that word often, but it means that Jesus Christ came to pay what was hanging over your head by your enemy. You have been kidnapped. Are you guys listening? You guys have been kidnapped by sin, and Satan uses that against you. And the Bible says Satan is always accusing you before God about how bad you are. Did you know that? The Bible says he's before God day and night accusing us. Isn't that something? So why does God allow that? Don't worry. Read the rest of the Bible. It turns out really good for you. In fact, all that accusation falls right back on Satan's face. That's going to be a great moment. I want to make sure you want to capture that on film, on camera when you do that. …
… Come see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, he has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. Now I have told you. Now I want you to notice something interesting. You expect, so he rolls the stone away and I'm expecting, you know, if I'm just reading this story for the first time, that Jesus is gonna walk out of the tomb. But there's no Jesus in the tomb. That stone had been there and yet Jesus was gone. The angel didn't roll the stone away so that Jesus could get out of the tomb. He rolled the stone away so the women could go in the tomb and see that Jesus wasn't there, that the tomb was empty. Somehow God had transported Jesus, rematerialized him, took his dead body and brought it back to life. And Jesus didn't have to have that door open, the tomb open for him. He passed right through. …
… Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, he has been raised from the dead, and indeed he's going ahead of you to Galilee. There you will see him. This is my message for you. So they left the tomb quickly. with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly, Jesus met them and said, Greetings, and they came to him and took hold of his feet and worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers and sisters to go to Galilee. there they will see me. This is the word of God for you, the people of God. Thanks be to God. If you were tasked with writing a musical score for Easter, where would you start? Would you go with strings or brass? Would you opt for soft piano chords or a thunderous drum roll? Would you lean toward the shimmering lilt of a harp? Or perhaps you can imagine no finer sound than a trumpet's trill. …
… He has risen just as he said he would. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples he has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you in the Galilee. There you will see him. Now I have told you. So the woman hurried away from the tomb and after yet filled with joy, she ran to tell the other disciples and suddenly Jesus met them there. I want to tell somebody today, you might not expect Jesus to show up, but I want to tell you for somebody today, God will suddenly meet you at the right place at the right time. We serve the God of the suddenly. Amen. Suddenly Jesus appeared. He said, greetings. In Spanish, bienvenidos. Sorry. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. And then Jesus said to them, do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, or for us, that's Rancho Cucamonga, and there they will see me. I want to preach a message today. Write down the title. It's called There's More to the Story. And I just love this because I know we're celebrating the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, the fact that the stone was rolled away. But I want to tell somebody today, that's just the tip of the iceberg. There's more to the story. And I want to encourage you, there's more to your story. God's not done with you yet. There's always more with God. …
