… because I get so much encouragement from it. in Matthew 28, verse eight, after she received this news, guys, right after they said, and this is what the angel told her, it said, so they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and they ran to tell the disciples. With fear, it's a very real part of the story. It didn't naturally just go away. Again, they were dealing with the impossible. With fear, How'd they overcome it? With great joy. What did they do? They ran. Some of you might be afraid when you leave here. Some of you might feel a little nervous when you leave here. I've never done this before, but what will keep you running? Great joy, confident hope, confident trust that this is true. Even Jesus, you know, before he endured the agony of the cross, what did it say? He was thinking about the future. He was thinking about what was to come with great joy. He endured the cross with fear, but great joy, they ran to do what? To tell the disciples. And behold, verse nine, didn't even have to wait long. Jesus met them and said, greetings. And he came and he took hold, they came and took hold of his feet and they just began to worship him. Can you imagine? …

… Because he's the way. And then in Matthew chapter 20, verse 28, look at this. The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many. The word ransom, we don't see that word often, but it means that Jesus Christ came to pay what was hanging over your head by your enemy. You have been kidnapped. Are you guys listening? You guys have been kidnapped by sin, and Satan uses that against you. And the Bible says Satan is always accusing you before God about how bad you are. Did you know that? The Bible says he's before God day and night accusing us. Isn't that something? So why does God allow that? Don't worry. Read the rest of the Bible. It turns out really good for you. In fact, all that accusation falls right back on Satan's face. That's going to be a great moment. I want to make sure you want to capture that on film, on camera when you do that. …

Scott Black Johnston, 2026-04-05 · Scripture reading

… So they left the tomb quickly. with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly, Jesus met them and said, Greetings, and they came to him and took hold of his feet and worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers and sisters to go to Galilee. there they will see me. This is the word of God for you, the people of God. Thanks be to God. If you were tasked with writing a musical score for Easter, where would you start? Would you go with strings or brass? Would you opt for soft piano chords or a thunderous drum roll? Would you lean toward the shimmering lilt of a harp? Or perhaps you can imagine no finer sound than a trumpet's trill. What sort of music would you use at dawn on Easter? Personally, I lean toward strings. I like the warmth of strings. Now, don't get me wrong. Brass is great. Brass is bright and powerful. Brass can wake a body up, lift a spirit. There's absolutely a place on this day for brass. …

Chad Veach, 2025-04-20 · Scripture reading

… the dead and is going ahead of you in the Galilee. There you will see him. Now I have told you. So the woman hurried away from the tomb and after yet filled with joy, she ran to tell the other disciples and suddenly Jesus met them there. I want to tell somebody today, you might not expect Jesus to show up, but I want to tell you for somebody today, God will suddenly meet you at the right place at the right time. We serve the God of the suddenly. Amen. Suddenly Jesus appeared. He said, greetings. In Spanish, bienvenidos. Sorry. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. And then Jesus said to them, do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, or for us, that's Rancho Cucamonga, and there they will see me. I want to preach a message today. Write down the title. It's called There's More to the Story. And I just love this because I know we're celebrating the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, the fact that the stone was rolled away. But I want to tell somebody today, that's just the tip of the iceberg. There's more to the story. And I want to encourage you, there's more to your story. God's not done with you yet. There's always more with God. …
