Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven.“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Called To Be An Influencer – Part 2
Jack Hibbs, 2026-08-16

… therefore Jesus says by their fruits you will know them not everyone who says to me Lord Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my father in heaven many speaking out the day of judgment many will say to me in that day Lord Lord have we not prophesied in your name wow Lord, Lord, have we not proclaimed your name? Have we not preached your name? So that means there's going to be preachers and proclaimers of the word of God and they're going to do it in his name and they're going to call him Lord, Lord and they did miracles. Look, cast out demons in your name. How many people are suckers in religious settings right now that they'll gravitate towards something that gives them goosebumps. Oh, let's do this and let's do that because can you feel it? Oh, we go to this thing because can you feel it? Can you feel what? I mean, you just feel, you can feel the presence of God. …

… Are you producing good fruit or toxic fruit? All right, let's talk about Matthew chapter 7, verses 21 through 23. This is now the third of these pericopes, these short statements that Jesus makes. And this is what he says. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord. Now he's talking about the last judgment. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day, many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name. And then I will declare to them, I never knew you. Go away from me, you evildoers. You feel the tragic note in this. I mean, these are people, so Jesus has two categories of people at the last judgment. He says, you know, they were both calling him Lord, right? Lord means to be ruler, sovereign, master, right? …

… Verse 21, here we go. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven. but he who does the will of my Father in heaven. Do you know what the will of the Father is in heaven? To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. Do you know what that means? That when you're saved, he transforms you by the Holy Spirit from the inside out. God does this thing. Right now in my backyard, we have this big, beautiful nest, and it's got bluebirds. I'm not talking blue jays. I'm talking bluebirds. You know there's a difference. Beautiful bluebirds, and they've got their babies, and there's a bunch of babies. and when that mama shows up or then when that daddy shows up those those mouths they the mouths are wide open and they're even now sticking their face out of the hole looking for food I could walk by there and give them a donut I think they would take it Thank you. …

… This is an amazing statement. Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven, whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and my sister. Whoever does the will of my Father, This is why it was the perfect question. What should we do? And John says, I want you to do in your world what God is about to do for the world. And if you do, you'll recognize God when he does it. John knew that if the people listening to him would do compassion and do generosity and do others first and do for one, they would recognize God's work in the world. They would recognize the selfless other first lamb of God that was about to step onto the pages of history. Believers didn't change the world. Doers changed the world. Followers changed the world. The men and women, the men and women whose lives advertise the kingdom of God, the men and women whose lives advertise thy kingdom come, thy will be done right here, right now in my world. …

The Only Way to Heaven (Matthew 7:13-27)
John MacArthur, 2023-04-30 · Scripture reading

… you will know them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? And then I will declare to them, I never knew You. Depart from me, You who practice lawlessness. Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house, and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and slammed against that house, and it fell, and great was its fall. …

… to them, I never knew you. Not everyone who says, Lord, Lord, he says, will enter the kingdom of heaven. But he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven will enter. It's not what you say. It's not what you claim. It's what you do. It's the fruit. At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, He said there were two people who built houses, one built on sand, one built on rock. The flood came and the house on sand was destroyed. The house on sand looked good on the outside, but it was not built on a foundation of obedience, of doing the will of God. James picks up this same reality and writes in James 1.22, But prove yourselves doers of the Word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves." You can't audit Christianity. You can't audit the Bible. You have to prove yourselves doers of the Word, not just those who listen. In fact, James goes on in verse 26 to say, "'If anyone thinks himself to be religious in the true sense, and yet does not bridle his tongue. …

… There are the many and the few. John verse 21, "'Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? Then I will declare to them, I never knew You. from me you who practice lawlessness. God didn't want the lawless and unrighteous in His temple. He doesn't want them in His heaven. They don't belong in worship. I wonder in this particular form of evangelical today, if we aren't producing some broad-gate Baptist churches, the first broad-gate Baptist church of whoever, wherever. Maybe even some broad-gate Bible churches. We've been talking about the gospel. We all understand that. And you heard a classic message from Steve on preaching the Word. And in that message, he came down to verse 5. …

… hey, Lord, Lord. And he goes, not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, is going to enter the kingdom of heaven. Only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. So then I start getting concerned for people who went to services and going, wait a second. I know you're calling him Lord, but I know what your life is like. It doesn't seem like, it seems like a good tree is going to bear good fruit. then I'd read passages like Matthew 17. Where he says, you know what? I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you'll say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it'll move, and nothing will be impossible to you. whoa see I just took everything literally and I remember going into my bedroom closing the door and just staring at things and trying to make a move I did I just thought man if I can move a mountain let me start with this pencil I did I swear and I'm just in my room going Lord I believe I believe, I believe. …

Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name, and done many wonders in your name. And then I will declare to them, I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice lawlessness. I realize that probably much of what I felt in my heart to share tonight has been heard quite a few times over in this group, so I will consider it a privilege to preach to the choir. this verse is used often to somehow to persuade people that miracles are not for today which to me sounds like the most I don't get it should I say what I'm really thinking that's just stupid Jesus didn't warn against prophets. He warned against false prophets. He didn't warn against signs and wonders. He warned against false signs and wonders. …

… HAVE NEVER EVER SURRENDERED TO THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST. JESUS SAID, NOT EVERYONE THAT SAITH UNTO ME, LORD, LORD, SHALL ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, BUT HE THAT DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN. HE IS NOT TALKING HERE ABOUT A WORK SALVATION, BUT HE IS SAYING, FRIEND, THAT WE MUST SURRENDER OUR LIVES TOTALLY TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ELSE OUR BELIEF IS A BAREN BELIEF. NOW, JAMES MAKES IT VERY CLEAR WITH, HE GIVES, HE GIVES TWO ILLUSTRATIONS AND, UH, AND I WANT YOU TO SEE THIS, OR TWO EXAMPLES AND ONE ILLUSTRATION. LOOK IN VERSE 21, WAS NOT ABRAHAM OUR FATHER JUSTIFIED BY WORKS WHEN HE HAD OFFERED ISAAC HIS SON UPON THE ALTAR? NOW WAIT A MINUTE. IF YOU KNOW YOUR BIBLE HISTORY, WHEN WAS ABRAHAM, COUNTED RIGHTEOUS. WELL, HE OFFERED ISAAC UPON THE ALTAR IN GENESIS CHAPTER 22. BUT IN GENESIS CHAPTER 15 THE BIBLE SAYS THAT ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD AND IT WAS COUNTED TO HIM FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? WHAT HAPPENED IN GENESIS 15 WHEN ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD WAS SEEN OVER HERE 30 YEARS LATER IN GENESIS 22 WHEN HE OFFERED UP ISAAC. THAT'S WHAT Paul is talking about over here, Abraham truly believed God and it showed up over here. Don't tell me, friend, don't tell me that you are saved and you love God if you're not living by the Word of God. Jesus Christ said, why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say? And then he gives another illustration. Was not Rahab the …

… NEITHER CAN A CORRUPT TREE BRING FORTH GOOD FRUIT. EVERY TREE THAT BRINGETH NOT FORTH GOOD FRUIT IS HEWN DOWN AND CAST INTO THE FIRE. WHEREFORE BY THEIR FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM. NOT EVERY ONE THAT SAITH UNTO ME, LORD, LORD, SHALL ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. BUT HE THAT DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN. MANY WILL SAY UNTO ME IN THAT DAY, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Have you ever passed a house or been walking up to a house wanting to knock on the door and you see a sign that says, Beware the dog. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THAT? WHAT DO YOU DO? WELL, YOU BEWARE THE DOG, DON'T YOU? WHEN THERE'S A SIGN THERE THAT SAYS JUST BEWARE THE DOG, YOU STOP RIGHT AWAY AND YOU LOOK AROUND AND WONDER, SHOULD I GO IN THERE? BUT WHATEVER, IT SENSITIZES YOU. I WANT YOU TO IMAGINE WALKING UP TO A HOUSE AND SEEING A SIGN THAT SAYS, BEWARE THE WOLF. I JUST SUPPOSE RATHER THAN HAVING A, A, A, A DOG IN THE YARD. THERE IS A WOLF IN THE YARD. I THINK YOU WOULD DO A DOUBLE TAKE. THE TITLE OF OUR MESSAGE TODAY, BEWARE THE WOLVES. THAT'S WHAT JESUS IS SAYING. AND THESE WOLVES WHO HAVE DISGUISED THEMSELVES IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING. …
