… 16 through 19 gives seven things that god hates first couple he says god hates haughty eyes a lying tongue hands that shed innocent blood but the final thing that proverbs 6 says that god hates is one who sows discord among his brothers and sisters. God hates gossip because it's so deadly. Because when you think about this, even an apology doesn't undo gossip. There's a story about St. Philip Neary years ago who at some point, St. Philip Neary was trying to express the devastation, devastating quality of gossip. And someone had come to him and said, you know, Father, what do I do about gossip? I apologize already and it seems like they're not really forgiving me. and St. Philip Nere said this, he said, okay, go home, get a feather pillow and take that feather pillow and go to a high hill outside of town. And on top of that high hill, open the pillow and shake out all of the feathers and let the wind blow them all away. …
… There are seven things which are an abomination to him. Look at verse 16. There are six things which the Lord hates. Yes, seven which are an abomination to him. Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. A heart that devises wicked plans. Feet that run rapidly to evil, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers. Do you notice three of these top seven have to do with speech? A lying tongue, a false witness spreading strife among brothers. Make no mistake about it, God absolutely hates lying and he hates liars. Why is that? Well, lying, untruth is the very antithesis of who God is. God defines himself by truth. On the other hand, Satan is the essence of untruth. In John 8, 44, Jesus describes Satan this way. He said, you are of your father, the devil, and therefore you want to do the desires of your father. Satan was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he, that's talking about Satan, speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and he is the father of lies. In what sense is Satan the father of lies? Think about it. The very first words recorded from Satan's lips in the Bible were words of a lie. Satan said to Eve, said, you're not really going to die if you eat of this tree? God didn't really say that, did he? And he's been lying ever since. Ladies and gentlemen, …
… This is what God hates. A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among the brethren. That's a perfect description of Haman the Agagite. So he promises to pay for this scheme. now back to this idea of jewish extermination just want to remind you of a premise that we brought out before here's the premise if god's plan to redeem the world follow me here if god's plan to redeem the world required the existence of a nation and the continuance of that nation. Theoretically, if you destroy the nation, you destroy God's plan. that's the spiritual warfare thinking the satanic thinking behind so many of the plots for jewish extermination throughout history all the prophets all the promises go back to the jewish nation god's plan of redemption came from a jewish man named yeshua to the Jewish nation, to the Jew first, Paul said, also to the Gentile. So if God's plan for redemption requires the existence and continuance of a nation, if you can exterminate the nation, you will have thwarted God's plan. That's why Pharaoh did what he did. That's why Herod wanted to kill all the babies in Bethlehem. That's why the royal seed of David was exterminated down to one male that survived, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. That's why this is going on. …
… Seven that are detestable to him. Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, the lucatrade, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. God hates, but specifically two of those things he hates refer to lying. God hates when we don't tell the truth. You don't believe me? Ask Ananias and Sapphira. In the New Testament, Acts chapter 5, in the new church, they were doing basically their version of an anchor project. People were bringing tithes and gifts to the community to build the kingdom. And some people were actually selling property and bringing the proceeds from there to the church. How great is that? Ananias and Sapphira did the same thing. They sold property, but they kept some to themselves, which is not in and of itself bad. Problem is, that's not the story that they told. They wanted people to think that they gave the whole thing. …
… That's the dominating sin. But the first two expressions of that, a lying tongue and hands that shed innocent blood. Lying and hating, hating to the point where you would kill someone. That's how angry you can be. God hates lying tongue, and He hates the anger that becomes hate that can go as far as to kill. And Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, 21 and 22, if you hate in your heart, it's the same thing as murder. People are filled with lies and deception and anger and hate. The only thing that restrains them from murdering is the consequences. And Proverbs 26, 28 says, a lying tongue hates those it crushes. A lying tongue hates those it crushes. When you lie to people, you lie to them because you hate them. This is particularly true for people in leadership, and Proverbs makes that clear. Listen to Proverbs 29, 12. If a ruler pays attention to lies, all his ministers become wicked. That is amazing, isn't it? …
