But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. But if he hear thee not, take with thee one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established.

… He says, okay, basically, if you're going to be my disciple, if your brother sins against you, go and... Go and... Go and what? If your brother sins against you, go and what? Question, what do we do? Jesus says, go and tell him his sin or his fault between you and him alone. So what do we do? I think we go and I think we tell, but I think we go and tell everyone except for the person who's involved. and then this first blind spot we have to look at this weekend is something that every one of us has been hurt by. That's the crazy thing about it. It's something that every one of us hates when we see it in others, but we are willing to compromise when it's ourselves. We say things like, well, I'm just processing. The term is gossip. Say, no, I'm just processing, which apparently means I need to tell three people what they did so I can figure out how I feel about her. …
… you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, Take one or two others along so that every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector. I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven. And whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Now flip with me over to Galatians chapter 6. Matthew chapter 18, verse 15 through 20. And we saw that whole picture of treat him as you would a pagan or tax collector, excommunication from the church addressed in 1 Corinthians 5. …
… expressed in the whole context surrounding Matthew chapter 18, verse 15 through 20. We talked about approaching church discipline. How does Jesus approach church discipline? He tells us we need childlike humility. It takes a great deal of humility to confront one another in a way that honors Christ in their sin. And then it takes a great deal of humility to receive correction from one another. We need childlike humility. We need a deep concern for holiness. We need to be serious about sin. We have become so casual with sin. Thank you. we today are so flippant with the holiness of God. And we need a deep concern for holiness. We need to see sin, not like our culture sees it, but like a holy God sees it. such a way that we would not be surprised to hear Jesus say, if your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. Sin is that serious. We need a deep concern for holiness along the way. …
