He Shapes What He Sends | Chad Veach
Chad Veach, 2026-05-03 · Scripture reading

… John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, you brood of vipers who warned you to flee from the coming wrath, produce fruit in keeping with repentance. I'm gonna give you six things to write down. Write down number one today. God prepares you through repentance. The way that God gets you ready for what he has for you is through the act of repentance. And if you don't know what repentance is, repentance is a turning away. Repentance is making a 180. And there might be parts of your life where you're walking against the will or plan of God. There might be parts of your life that you're not living up to God's standards. The way that God prepares you is he prepares you through repentance. Repentance, by the way, is not feeling bad about what you've done. Repentance, by the way, is not crying tears of remorse over what you've done. A repentance is changing your mind and making a U-turn and saying, I'm not going to live for me. …

A Conversation About Heaven
Guest speaker, 2026-03-22

… of being born a Jew of the seed of Abraham, and then because he did everything that was right that you could possibly do in the way of religion. In Matthew chapter 3 verse 7, we see John the Baptist, he's out baptizing, and as he's baptizing, a bunch of Pharisees and Sadducees come to the baptism. So he's down there baptizing, and he looks up, and he sees them, and he goes, could you imagine? We have a baptism coming up. Could you imagine? I'm out there baptizing, and I see some people coming down the stairs, and I stop, and I go, brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? You're like, Shadrach, that is not the message that we want to be sending to people coming to the baptism. I mean, that's kind of hard. But look at what he goes on to say. He's not done. Can you imagine? He's, hang on a second. I've got more to say. And don't begin to say or think we have Abraham as our father because that's what they believe. …

The (Second) Greatest Person Ever Born
Skip Heitzig, 2026-03-22

… Okay, that's not a good way to open your first Sunday morning service. Matthew tells us the story. When they came to him, John the Baptist said, you brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees and every tree that doesn't bear fruit will be cut down and tossed into the fire his winnowing fork is in his hand and he will thoroughly clean the threshing floor and gather the wheat into the barn and burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire if john the baptist came to the average town and went to the average church most people would run for cover with that message why was john so denunciatory why was he so accusatory why was he so excoriating in his tone here's why verse one of mark one tells us why look at it the beginning of the what? Gospel of Jesus Christ. What does gospel mean? Good news. That's why. Why was John so denunciatory? Because this is the beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ. Now listen, this is what John thought. They're never going to appreciate the good news unless they are aware of the bad news. The good news isn't good unless you know the alternative is really bad. …

12/07/25 Waiting Well: Trust His Timing
Mike Schmitz, 2025-12-06 · Scripture reading

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Might you have a seat. So last week we started this new series, the series through Advent called Waiting Well. And the reality is we call it Waiting Well because we don't know how to wait well. Here is a season of Advent, season of preparation, obviously. But it's also a season of waiting. I mean, just think of how much we dislike the season of waiting. Because right now, probably, you know, December 7th, we are probably already in a place of having gone to maybe already one or two Christmas parties that we, full disclosure, we had a Christmas party last night for our alumni. On Friday, we had a Christmas party for all of our students. And yeah, why? Well, we wanted to get in before the end of the semester, all of those things. We have excuses, but do you? No, we all have excuses. And the excuse is we don't like waiting. We want it to be here. In fact, there is actually a whole science on waiting, on the study of waiting. …
