1 Timothy 6

1All who are under the yoke of slavery should regard their masters as fully worthy of honor, so that God’s name and our teaching will not be discredited.Let as many as are bondservants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine not be blasphemed.Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.Let as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed. 2Those who have believing masters should not show disrespect because they are brothers, but should serve them all the more, since those receiving their good service are beloved believers. Teach and encourage these principles. Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but let them serve them the rather, because they that partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. These things teach and exhort. 3If anyone teaches another doctrine and disagrees with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and with godly teaching,If anyone teaches a different doctrine and doesn’t consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; If any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4he is conceited and understands nothing. Instead, he has an unhealthy interest in controversies and disputes about words, out of which come envy, strife, abusive talk, evil suspicions,he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, insulting, evil suspicions,He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5and constant friction between men of depraved mind who are devoid of the truth. These men regard godliness as a means of gain.constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. Withdraw yourself from such.Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.wranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain. 6Of course, godliness with contentment is great gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain: 7For we brought nothing into the world, so we cannot carry anything out of it.For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.for we brought nothing into the world, for neither can we carry anything out; 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.but having food and covering we shall be therewith content. 9Those who want to be rich, however, fall into temptation and become ensnared by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. But they that are minded to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and hurtful lusts, such as drown men in destruction and perdition. 10For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. By craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession before many witnesses.Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.Fight the good fight of the faith, lay hold on the life eternal, whereunto thou wast called, and didst confess the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. 13I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession in His testimony before Pontius Pilate:I command you before God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession,I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession; 14Keep this commandment without stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:that thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15which the blessed and only Sovereign One—the King of kings and Lord of lords—will bring about in His own time.which at the right time he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords.Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;which in its own times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16He alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light. No one has ever seen Him, nor can anyone see Him. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.He alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen. 17Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be conceited and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of wealth, but in God, who richly provides all things for us to enjoy.Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and ready to share, that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19treasuring up for themselves a firm foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed. 20O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid irreverent, empty chatter and the opposing arguments of so-called “knowledge,”Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of what is falsely called knowledge,O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called; 21which some have professed and thus swerved away from the faith. Grace be with you all.which some profess, and thus have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen. The first to Timothy was written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest city of Phrygia Pacatiana.which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.
