09/06/26 Blind Spots: Gossip
Mike Schmitz, 2026-09-05 · Scripture reading

… He says, okay, basically, if you're going to be my disciple, if your brother sins against you, go and... Go and... Go and what? If your brother sins against you, go and what? Question, what do we do? Jesus says, go and tell him his sin or his fault between you and him alone. So what do we do? I think we go and I think we tell, but I think we go and tell everyone except for the person who's involved. and then this first blind spot we have to look at this weekend is something that every one of us has been hurt by. That's the crazy thing about it. It's something that every one of us hates when we see it in others, but we are willing to compromise when it's ourselves. We say things like, well, I'm just processing. The term is gossip. Say, no, I'm just processing, which apparently means I need to tell three people what they did so I can figure out how I feel about her. …

A Post Moving Praise - Pastor Sheryl Brady
Pastor Sheryl Brady, 2026-08-02

… Heaven and earth was adoring him. and where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. I have been to a place where I went to bed troubled. I went to bed concerned. I went to bed worried about something. But when he comes in the room, sometimes he's got to knock you out to get you out of his way. And he'll let you fall asleep And while you're sleeping He'll release the greatest peace That you have felt Your situation may not change But you have transitioned Why? I seen him I seen him high I seen him lifted up I saw the Lord The problem with us church though Is that we're so Easily Satisfied I said we are so easily. Look at somebody and tell them, don't be so easily satisfied. You got to reach. You got to press. You got to stretch. You got to unite. You've got to come together. Because once we come together and once we come into agreement, once heaven and earth comes into agreement, that is where God comes in. …

… it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. Now flip with me over to Galatians chapter 6. Matthew chapter 18, verse 15 through 20. And we saw that whole picture of treat him as you would a pagan or tax collector, excommunication from the church addressed in 1 Corinthians 5. Now look at Galatians chapter 6 and listen to what Scripture teaches there. Galatians chapter 6 verse 1, Paul writes, Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks he is something, When he has nothing, he deceives himself. Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load. Come back to Matthew chapter 18, and here's the picture. …

… expressed in the whole context surrounding Matthew chapter 18, verse 15 through 20. We talked about approaching church discipline. How does Jesus approach church discipline? He tells us we need childlike humility. It takes a great deal of humility to confront one another in a way that honors Christ in their sin. And then it takes a great deal of humility to receive correction from one another. We need childlike humility. We need a deep concern for holiness. We need to be serious about sin. We have become so casual with sin. Thank you. we today are so flippant with the holiness of God. And we need a deep concern for holiness. We need to see sin, not like our culture sees it, but like a holy God sees it. such a way that we would not be surprised to hear Jesus say, if your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. Sin is that serious. We need a deep concern for holiness along the way. …

Living in the Throne Zone | Jentezen Franklin
Jentezen Franklin, 2025-02-03

… Praise God. Where two or three are gathered, Matthew 18, where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I where in the midst of them. If I can get three, that's ideal. But if I can't get three, I'll take two. I don't need a lot of unity in the house. But if I can get two, I think that's the husband and the wife. The crazy teenagers are crazy teenagers. You are a crazy teenager too. They're crazy as a bat. And they're going to do crazy stuff. I'm sorry. I don't know nothing but real raw life. Every one of mine were as crazy as a bat for a season. Maybe not Connor. I will have to say Connor was good. Well, there were moments. but God said, I don't need ideal. I just, if two or three, if two of you, if the husband, after he's beat up and she's beat up, you got that phone call and you're disappointed, your heart's broken, you're going through stuff, one of them out drinking with the wrong crowd, Another one's doing this, doing that. …
