Psalm 103, the next verse. Psalm 103, verse seven on your outline. God let the people of Israel see his mighty actions, but he revealed his ways to Moses. Now, why am I teaching this to you? Because friends, as your pastor who loves you, I want you to be better than everybody else. I want you to not just know what's going on in the world. I want you to understand the ways of God. You can get current information from any media source. That doesn't make you better than anybody. But it doesn't make you better. We have tons of information, tons of news, and still are unwise. And my deepest desire that this church will be filled with women of wisdom, men of wisdom, with understanding, not simply knowledge, with perspective, not just information. People are arguing about information around the whole world and they're missing the wisdom of God. And that's why they're fighting each other. They don't know the wisdom of God. Where does that wisdom come from? …

… that are examples or definitions of God's mercy to you. Here's what it says, Psalm 103, verse 2 to 11. I will not forget the glorious things that God does for me. He forgives, you might circle that, he forgives all my sins. He heals me, that's mercy. He ransoms me from hell, that's mercy. He surrounds me with loving kindness, that's mercy. He fills my life with good things. He is merciful and tender. Toward those who don't deserve it, that's mercy. He's slow to get angry. I'm glad for that, that's mercy. He never bears a grudge. Aren't you glad for that one? Some of you don't believe that. You think that something you did a long time ago, God's still trying to get even with you for it. Anything bad happens in your life, go, God's getting even with me. God, it says, does not carry a grudge. He's not getting even. How many times have you heard me say, God is not mad at you, he's mad about you. …

… and it's by the word of the Lord. He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel. No one has ever seen God, the only God who is in the Father's side. He has made him known. Jesus, this is Jesus, is the final and decisive revelation of God. And oh, how sweet it is that we have four portraits of Jesus that lead off the New Testament and the rest of the New Testament explains it all even more deeply. So right now I'm reading Mark, and I read this morning, even the demons obey him. That's world-shaking. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Observation number four. This is all introduction, trying to get our minds soaked with a little bit of reality so that when we deal with these glorious things, we'll have a mindset that just might be ready. God upholds and governs all things from galaxies to subatomic particles. That's a quote from the Bethlehem Elder Affirmation of Faith. I'll be quoting the Elder Affirmation of Faith for five weeks because I want you to know that what we believe is believed by all the elders, not just me. …

The Thread of Grace - Louie Giglio
Louie Giglio, 2024-12-08

… were spared by the grace of God and a scarlet cord out the window, the thread of God's grace that is woven through history. The psalmist wrote it this way. He made known his ways to Moses. We've just seen all that. His deeds to the people of Israel. The Lord is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever. He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. How can the psalmist say this? Because the prophets are coming and the prophets are speaking about what God is going to do. I love how we see it in Isaiah 53. And you should read the whole chapter of Isaiah 53. But let's zoom in on any point that you want to. …
