… We are in our final week of a series that we have called Lasting Legacy. Our key verse in this series has been Psalm 112, verses 5 and 6, which says, It is well with the man who deals generously and lends, who conducts his affairs with biblical generous justice. For the righteous will never be moved. He will be remembered forever. Let me tell you something that you may not have heard talked about in church before, and that is that God put into you a desire to be remembered, a desire to have eternal significance, a desire for your life account for something beyond itself. Ecclesiastes says that God put eternity into our hearts, which means that that desire for a lasting legacy, that's from him. In this series, what I've tried to show you, what we've looked at together is how you can have that kind of eternal legacy, what you and I can do right now so that we can be remembered literally forever. … See, last year we introduced something to you called the legacy lanes. We took that language, by the way, from Psalm 112, verses 5 and 6, which says, it is well with the man who deals generously, for the righteous will be remembered forever. Remembered forever, that's legacy. By the way, that's the very passage Paul quotes in 2 Corinthians 9, 9, if you look at it. Paul says, because of your generosity, quote someone 12, people will give thanks to God forever. We have five legacy lanes at this church where we give in ways, mostly outside the walls of this church, that increase thanksgiving to God. Those five lanes are international missions, leadership multiplication, local outreach, domestic church planting, and triangle gospel expansion. At our church, at Summit Church, we have structured our budget so that 35% of everything we receive automatically goes into one of those five lanes. For those of you that are slow at math, that means 65% run all the ministries of the church. …
