… So just sit there. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Like, all I'm saying is, are we looking at the things that we are impatient in and we're passing up the opportunity to receive a fruit of the spirit? God's going to give you opportunities today. What are you working out of your flesh or your spirit? If patience is a fruit of the spirit, then impatience. Some of you are impatient with your wife. Some of you are impatient with your kids. Just because you had them doesn't mean you treat them any type of way. impatient they're three they're gonna touch stuff stop touching did god give you that child to teach you this fruit of the spirit because what you are you're going to develop in them and they're going to become just like you because you didn't have patience with them so they won't have patience for a destiny and so they'll quit because they feel like everything should come to them like this but you quit on them when they were born because you didn't want to teach them how to be disciplined so you punish them out of your emotions and embarrassment and so they become what you never wanted and then they repeat the cycle now all i'm all i'm saying to you is maybe patience is a bigger deal And there's promises that God has for you where the only payment will be patience. …
… I had nothing. And I'm going to leave that way. So the Lord gives, the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Job is not mercenary. He's not only worshiping God for what God can bless him with and give him things for. But because of who God is, blessed be the name of the Lord. See, pain will move you. Pain will always move you in some direction. It'll move you to him. It'll move you away from him. It'll move you into yourself. It'll move you in some direction. And you've heard me say this and others say this so many times. pain will make you better or bitter or battered. Some people are bitter. They're just angry, always mad. And you trace it back and their expectations weren't met. Suffering happened, grief happened, loss happened. They expected that not to ever happen because God should have a hedge about me. But it happened. So they get angry. They get bitter. And that bitter gets more acrid as time goes on. Some people become just battered. They just kind of grit their teeth and muster through it. And yeah, you kind of expect this in life. A lot of bad things happen. You just kind of just become crusty, battered. But some people actually become better. Some people are like tea bags, the flavor comes out when you put them in hot water. …

they'll curse God. But old Job said, I'm not going to curse him. I'm going to praise him. Job said, the Lord gave, the Lord had taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Look in chapter one, verse 20. Then Job arose and rent his mantle and shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshiped and said, naked came I out of my mother's womb and naked shall I return thither. The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Now watch this. In all of this Job sinned not nor charged God foolishly. Now here's the second question. First question is can God be trusted when I am submerged in suffering or when you are submerged in suffering? Here's the second question. Can God be trusted when you are forsaken by friends? When you're forsaken by friends. Now it's one thing to be submerged in suffering. But what about when we suffer and there's nobody there with us to suffer with us? …
… SHALL I RETURN THITHER. THE LORD GAVE, AND THE LORD HATH TAKEN AWAY, BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD." IF THAT'S NOT UNDERSCORED IN YOUR BIBLE, UNDERSCORED, BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING TO NEED IT. THE LORD GAVE, AND THE LORD HATH TAKEN AWAY, BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD, AND IN ALL OF THIS JOB SINNED NOT AND HAD CHARGED GOD FOOLISHLY. NOW WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN UNEXPECTED TRAGEDY COMES? YOU PRAISE. YOU PRAISE. JUST PRAISE GOD BY FAITH. YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW WHY. YOU DON'T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND. YOU JUST SIMPLY SAY, GOD, I PRAISE YOU. YOU SAY, I'D BE A HYPOCRITE. NO, YOU'D BE A SAINT. YOU SAY, WELL, I DON'T FEEL LIKE PRAISING. OF COURSE YOU WOULDN'T. YOU SAY, I DON'T UNDERSTAND. OF COURSE YOU DON'T. BUT IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS. JUST SIMPLY SAY, GOD, I WORSHIP YOU. GOD, I PRAISE YOU. I praise you. If you're enjoying this message from Adrian Rogers and would like to dig a little deeper into today's topic, download this free companion Bible study. …
