YOU ARE WHAT YOU WORSHIP
Brad Hughes, 2026-05-17

… As we worship, we start to become more like the thing that we are worshiping. Psalm 115 verses four through eight say this. But their idols are silver and gold made by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear, noses but cannot smell. They have hands but cannot feel, feet but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. those who make them will be like them and so will all who trust in them in other words if you want to be deaf and blind and lame and dumb and dead then go worship an idol but if you want to have life and life to the fullest then worship the king of kings and the lord of lords whose name is Jesus Jesus Christ. You are what you worship. You are what you worship. And I can't help but think of the story of Peter, the apostle. … he does whatever he pleases that's like my favorite verse he does whatever he pleases verse 4 their idols are silver and gold the work of men's hands they have mouths but they do not speak. Eyes they have, but they do not see. They have ears, but they do not hear. Noses they have, but they do not smell. They have hands, but they do not handle. Feet they have, but they do not walk. Nor do they mutter through their throats. Those who make them are like them. So is everyone who trusts in them. What you fear determines what you trust. What you trust is what you become like. And we don't have that type of thing today. But the Apostle Paul said that greed is idolatry. Greed is the worship of other gods. …

IMAGE IS EVERYTHING
Ed Young Jr., 2026-01-18

… You might be thinking, what? Well, Psalm 115, verses 3 through 7. God, check this out, this is about false God. Our God is in heaven. He does whatever pleases him. But their idols are silver and gold made by human hands. They have mouths, but they cannot speak. Think about the gods that I've talked about already. They can't speak. We have a God, though, that speaks to us through his word. through situations and conversations, through worship, on and on and on. They have mouths but cannot speak. Eyes but cannot see. Our God sees it all. There's no such thing as a closed office door, bedroom door, or car door. God sees it all in the brilliant blaze of his glory. Idols can't do it. They don't have the juice to do it. They have ears but cannot hear. God hears everything. The Bible says even when we don't even know how to articulate our prayers, He takes our moanings and groanings and sighs, and he knows what we're saying. …
