… And if God allows him into your life, it is for a good purpose. Psalm 125 verse 2 says, it's not shrubbery that surrounds us to protect us. It is a mountain. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people from this time forth and forever. The fact that God has surrounded you is his direct way of protecting you. And nothing that is without purpose happens to the godly, the scripture says. One way God protects you is through his direct fortification, that wall he has built around your life. A second way he protects us is through angelic intervention. Angelic intervention. Remember the writer of Hebrews, what he said about angels? They're real. Verse 14 of Hebrews 1 says, Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation? Angels are what I call God's triple-A service, always available to assist. We're not to worship the angels, but we're to understand God uses angels to protect his children. …
… Or maybe the conjunction is so. Is the mountains surrounding Jerusalem so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forever? Or maybe your conjunction is but. Even the youth shall faint and be weary and the young men shall utterly fall. But.
… God. but abides forever as the mountains surround Jerusalem. So the Lord surrounds his people from this time forth and forever. Now, obviously that's a promise to Israel, but the Bible tells us in the new Testament that all the promises of God are yes and amen for the believer. God can, God will surround you. When you go out there, then the enemy's going to shoot darts, lies, evil, whatever comes. Think about this. The Lord God Almighty is guarding you just as he's promised to guard Zion. You shall not be moved. Marty Gatts sings that great song. It just popped into my head right now. I shall not be moved. And then look at Psalm 37. This is epic. We hit Psalm 37 verse 4 last week, but this is the whole of it, or most of it. …
Well, the World Cup is coming to Kansas City, which means for the next month or so, from June to July, we're going to have a chance to watch the game of soccer played at the highest level. And here in Kansas City, it's really exciting because we get to play host to four different nations, four different teams that are competing in the World Cup. And we also get to watch a lot of matches here in Kansas City, too, including one of those quarterfinal matchups. And so it's going to be an awesome time. It's an amazing experience. And to be candid, I'm kind of an expert in this because I'm one of the lucky ones that actually can remember back to 1994 when the United States hosted its very first World Cup. I was living in Detroit at the time. I was a little kid. And I had the privilege of being able to go and watch some of the games in that Pontiac Silverdome, which is where we watch the games in Detroit. …
